Soul Travel Exposed: A Biblical Warning Against Astral Projection, Out-of-Body Practices, and Occult Deception

Soul travel is often presented as a harmless spiritual experience, a way to leave the body, explore higher realms, gain hidden knowledge, or experience spiritual enlightenment. It may also be called astral projection, astral travel, out-of-body travel, soul wandering, spiritual journeying, or consciousness travel.

But behind the peaceful language is a dangerous occult practice that teaches people to seek spiritual experiences outside the boundaries of God’s Word. For Christians, this is not innocent curiosity. It is a spiritual doorway.

The Bible never instructs believers to attempt to leave their bodies, travel through spiritual dimensions, contact hidden realms, seek spirit guides, or gain revelation through altered states of consciousness. God calls His people to walk by the Holy Spirit, test every spirit, remain sober-minded, and reject occult practices.

Where Did Soul Travel Come From?

The idea of the soul or spirit leaving the body is ancient and appears in many mystical, occult, pagan, shamanic, and New Age systems. Throughout history, different cultures have practiced forms of spirit travel, trance journeys, vision quests, dream travel, and communication with unseen realms.

In modern times, the phrase “Soul Travel” is especially connected to Eckankar, a modern spiritual movement introduced publicly in the 1960s by Paul Twitchell. Eckankar teaches that Soul is eternal and can travel beyond the physical body into higher spiritual planes. This teaching blends ideas similar to Eastern mysticism, reincarnation, karma, inner sound and light, and out-of-body spiritual exploration.

Astral projection, another related term, became widely used in occult and Theosophical circles. It teaches that a person has an “astral body” or subtle body that can leave the physical body and travel through the astral realm.

While these ideas may sound spiritual, they are not biblical. They are rooted in occultism, mysticism, and the pursuit of hidden knowledge outside of Christ.

Who Founded Soul Travel?

Soul travel as a concept does not have one single founder because forms of spirit travel appear in ancient occult and mystical traditions. However, the modern religious teaching called “Soul Travel” is strongly associated with Paul Twitchell, the founder of Eckankar.

Paul Twitchell presented Soul Travel as a path to spiritual freedom and God-realization. Yet the God of the Bible never teaches that believers must travel through spiritual planes to know Him. Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” — John 14:6.

The Christian does not need soul travel. The Christian needs Jesus Christ, repentance, the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and obedience.

What Is Soul Travel Used For?

People use soul travel or astral projection for many reasons, including:

  • Seeking hidden spiritual knowledge
  • Trying to visit heavenly or spiritual realms
  • Attempting to communicate with spirits or guides
  • Escaping pain, trauma, grief, or depression
  • Seeking supernatural power or experiences
  • Trying to spy spiritually on people or places
  • Exploring dreams, altered states, or the astral realm
  • Seeking enlightenment apart from Jesus Christ
  • Trying to prove that life exists beyond the body

Some people are drawn to it because they want peace. Others want control, power, healing, mystery, or answers. But Satan often disguises bondage as enlightenment.

Second Corinthians 11:14 warns, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”

Not every spiritual experience comes from God. A person can have a real spiritual encounter and still be deceived if that encounter does not line up with the Word of God.

Why Would Someone Get Involved in Soul Travel?

Many people become involved in soul travel because they are spiritually hungry but lack biblical grounding. They may have trauma, fear of death, grief, curiosity, or a desire to understand the unseen realm.

Others become involved through New Age books, meditation, hypnosis, lucid dreaming, yoga, occult teachers, online videos, Eckankar teachings, psychic practices, or guided out-of-body exercises.

A person may say, “I just wanted to experience God.” But God has already revealed how we are to come to Him—through Jesus Christ, not through occult techniques.

Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace…” We come by faith in Christ, not by leaving the body, chanting sounds, entering trance states, or traveling into spiritual planes.

Why Is Soul Travel Against God’s Word?

Soul travel violates God’s Word because it seeks spiritual knowledge, power, and experience through forbidden spiritual methods.

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 warns against occult practices, divination, witchcraft, enchantments, consulting spirits, and seeking hidden spiritual knowledge through forbidden means. God calls these practices an abomination.

Soul travel also encourages altered states of consciousness, spiritual passivity, and contact with unseen realms. The Bible commands believers to be sober and vigilant.

First Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

Soul travel is dangerous because it trains a person to open themselves spiritually without biblical protection, discernment, or submission to Jesus Christ.

God does not tell us to empty our minds. He tells us to renew our minds.

Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

God does not tell us to travel outside the body. He tells us to walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16 says, “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

God does not tell us to pursue spirit guides. He gives us the Holy Spirit.

John 16:13 says the Spirit of truth will guide believers into all truth.

How Can Soul Travel Hurt a Christian?

When a Christian dabbles in soul travel, they may believe they are only exploring spirituality, but they are stepping outside the covering of God’s Word. This can open doors to demonic deception and oppression.

Possible spiritual consequences include:

  1. Confusion and deception
The person may believe every spiritual encounter is from God, even when it contradicts Scripture.
  2. Opening doors to familiar spirits
Spirit guides, beings of light, deceased loved ones, or “masters” may appear, but these can be familiar spirits masquerading as truth.
  3. Spiritual oppression
After occult involvement, people may experience fear, nightmares, voices, torment, heaviness, anxiety, sleep paralysis, or a sense of being watched.
  4. False revelation
The person may begin trusting visions, dreams, sensations, and experiences more than the Bible.
  5. Pride and spiritual elitism
Soul travel can make people feel spiritually advanced, chosen, or enlightened, while moving them away from humility and obedience to Christ.
  6. Fear, torment, and bondage
What begins as curiosity can become spiritual harassment, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and demonic visitations.
  7. Separation from biblical truth
A Christian may drift into New Age teachings, reincarnation, karma, spirit guides, meditation, energy work, and other occult practices.

First John 4:1 warns, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God…”

What Curses Can Come on a Christian Through Soul Travel?

When Christians participate in occult practices, they may give legal rights to demonic spirits through disobedience, agreement, curiosity, or ignorance. These are not always immediate, but over time the fruit can become visible.

Possible curses and spiritual consequences may include:

  • Curse of occult bondage
  • Curse of divination and false revelation
  • Curse of spiritual confusion
  • Curse of fear and torment
  • Curse of nightmares and night attacks
  • Curse of familiar spirits
  • Curse of deception and false light
  • Curse of spiritual pride
  • Curse of rebellion against God’s Word
  • Curse of double-mindedness
  • Curse of mental torment and intrusive thoughts
  • Curse of passivity and spiritual vulnerability
  • Generational occult doors passed to children
  • Open doors to witchcraft, psychic power, and New Age practices

Galatians 3:13 tells us that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law. But believers must repent, renounce, and close the doors they opened.

Scriptures Warning Against Soul Travel and Occult Practices

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 — God forbids divination, witchcraft, enchantments, consulting spirits, and occult practices.
Leviticus 19:31 — “Regard not them that have familiar spirits…”
Isaiah 8:19 — God rebukes people for seeking familiar spirits instead of seeking Him.
1 Peter 5:8 — Be sober and vigilant because the devil seeks whom he may devour.
1 John 4:1 — Test the spirits.
Colossians 2:8 — Beware of philosophy and vain deceit after the tradition of men.
2 Corinthians 11:14 — Satan transforms himself into an angel of light.
John 14:6 — Jesus is the only way to the Father.
Acts 19:18–19 — Those involved in occult practices confessed and burned their occult books.

What Should a Christian Do If They Practiced Soul Travel?

If you have practiced soul travel, astral projection, guided out-of-body exercises, Eckankar, spirit travel, or any related practice, do not panic—but do repent.

Renounce the practice out loud. Ask Jesus Christ to forgive you. Break agreement with every spirit, guide, teacher, realm, portal, initiation, mantra, sound, meditation, and occult covenant connected to it.

A simple prayer:

“Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ, I repent for participating in soul travel, astral projection, out-of-body practices, spirit travel, and every occult practice connected to hidden knowledge and forbidden spiritual experiences. I renounce every spirit guide, false light, astral realm, demonic teacher, familiar spirit, and counterfeit revelation. I close every door I opened through curiosity, ignorance, rebellion, trauma, or deception. I ask You to cleanse me by the blood of Jesus Christ. I command every demonic spirit that entered through these practices to leave me now in the name of Jesus. Holy Spirit, fill every place that was occupied by darkness and lead me into truth. Amen.”

Final Warning

Soul travel is not a harmless spiritual adventure. It is a deceptive occult doorway that can lead Christians into confusion, demonic oppression, false revelation, and spiritual bondage.

You do not need to leave your body to find God. You need to surrender fully to Jesus Christ.

Jesus is not hidden in an astral realm. He is revealed in the Word of God, by the Holy Spirit, through repentance, faith, obedience, and truth.

If you have been involved in soul travel, astral projection, New Age practices, witchcraft, divination, or occult practices, you may need deliverance.

Under Witchcraft or Demonic Attacks?

Under Witchcraft or Demonic Attacks?

Under Witchcraft or Demonic Attacks?

Have you or your family experienced tormenting dreams, confusion, mental fog, recurring sickness, or an invisible heaviness in your home or mind? You may be under spiritual attack—not by accident, but because a door was opened. That door may have been through personal involvement in the occult, New Age practices, or even through your ancestors.

🔥 What Is the Occult and What Does "Occult" Really Mean?

What is the Occult? The word "occult" comes from the Latin occultus, meaning hidden, secret, or concealed. But biblically, we can trace similar meanings in Greek and Hebrew that show how God views such hidden knowledge and forbidden practices.

  • Greek: The word pharmakeia (φαρμακεία) is used in Galatians 5:19–21 to describe witchcraft or sorcery. It refers not only to drug use but to magical arts and spellcasting.

  • Hebrew: The word qesem (קֶסֶם) means divination—a forbidden practice of seeking supernatural knowledge outside of God (Deuteronomy 18:10).

Anything that seeks spiritual power or hidden knowledge apart from the Holy Spirit is considered occultic, even if it appears good or peaceful. The devil often disguises danger as light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

God forbids nine practices in His word.

The occult, as He warns the Israelites to avoid and abhor it. Pronouncing it as towebah God, in His wisdom, lays out the Nine Forbidden Practices. They are:

1) Passing Children Through the Fire (Child Sacrifice / Moloch Worship / Abortion)
🡆 Leviticus 20:2–5 – warns of severe judgment for offering children to Molech

🡆 Jeremiah 32:35 – “They built high places for Baal... to cause their sons and daughters to pass through the fire…”

2) Divination The Heart of the Occult. Manipulation from demonic sources.
🡆 Deuteronomy 18:10

🡆 Ezekiel 13:6–9 – warns of false prophets using divination

🡆 Micah 5:12 – “I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand...”

3) Astrology We either trust God or the Zodiac, but not both!
🡆 Isaiah 47:13–14 – condemns astrologers and star-gazers

🡆 Leviticus 19:26 – “You shall not... practice divination or soothsaying.”

4) Enchantment/Encantations Someone satanically endowed to produce seductive spells.
🡆 Isaiah 47:9–12 – speaks of enchantments and sorceries

🡆 Psalm 58:5 – mentions the enchanter enchanting skillfully

5) Witchcraft and Witches Include its modern, organized counterpart, Wicca.

🡆 Exodus 22:18 (KJV): “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.”
🡆 Deuteronomy 18:10: “There shall not be found among you… anyone who

practices witchcraft...”

🡆 Micah 5:12: “I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers.”
  🡆 Sorcery - Galatians 5:20 – “...idolatry, sorcery (pharmakeia)...”
🡆 Revelation 21:8 – sorcerers listed among the damned

6) Charmer One manipulates objects or beings via demonic power.

🡆 Deuteronomy 18:11: “Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits…”

🡆 Psalm 58:5: “Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.”(This refers to snake charmers, but figuratively shows manipulation by magical means.)

🡆 Isaiah 19:3: “...they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits...”

7) Consulter with Familiar Spirits One who gleans knowledge from demonic contact.
🡆 Leviticus 19:31 – “Do not turn to mediums... I am the Lord.”
🡆1 Samuel 28:7–20 – Saul consults the medium of Endor, which leads to his downfall

8) Wizards Practitioners of magical arts
🡆 Leviticus 20:6 – God sets His face against anyone who seeks spiritists

🡆 Isaiah 8:19 – “Should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?”

9) Necromancers Those who claim to be in contact with the dead.
🡆 Deuteronomy 18:11 – forbids communication with the dead
🡆 2 Kings 23:24 – Josiah removes those who work with spirits and the dead

🚫 God Strongly Forbids All Occult Practices or New Age Modalities for Healing

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells…”– Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (NKJV)

This includes:

  • Horoscopes and astrology

  • Yoga and Eastern meditation

  • Crystals and energy healing

  • Reiki and chakra alignment

  • Communicating with the dead (necromancy)

  • Ouija boards, tarot cards, and spirit guides

  • Burning sage or using pendulums

  • Channeling, astral projection, or dreamcatchers

  • and many more. See checklist.

Many people, even believers, do these things unknowingly, believing they are “harmless.” But in reality, they open legal doors for demonic spirits to enter.

🧬 Generational Doors You Didn’t Open

Even if you didn’t participate in the occult, your ancestors may have. The Bible tells us that sins can be passed down:

“...visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation...”— Exodus 20:5 (NKJV)

If your parents or grandparents were involved in Freemasonry, witchcraft, divination, New Age religion, or false religions, you may be inheriting demonic consequences like:

  • Mental torment

  • Poverty and failure cycles

  • Sexual perversion

  • Addictions

  • Fear and anxiety

  • Unexplained illness

😨 Do You Have These Symptoms of Occult Oppression?

If you’ve ever dabbled in these practices, or if you notice the following signs, you may need deliverance:

  • Nightmares, sleep paralysis, or seeing shadowy figures

  • Chronic anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts

  • Unexplained sickness that doctors can’t treat

  • Spiritual confusion or blocked prayer life

  • Constant fatigue or heaviness without reason

  • Financial loss, job trouble, or repeated relational failure

  • Feeling a “presence” in your home or on your body

  • Voices in your mind, paranoia, or sudden fear

These are symptoms of demonic torment. They will not go away with medicine or positive thinking. They must be broken spiritually.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”— Hosea 4:6 (NKJV)

Why Christians Need deliverance - Breaking Spiritual Chains

Breaking Spiritual Chains: The Biblical Power of Deliverance Ministry

Breaking Spiritual Chains: The Biblical Power of Deliverance Ministry

🔓 Breaking the Chains: The Power of Deliverance Ministry

In a fast-paced, chaotic world, many Christians silently suffer under the weight of spiritual bondage. They struggle with hidden issues like addictions, deep trauma, generational curses, demonic oppression, and past involvement in occult practices or New Age healing modalities.

You may have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, yet still battle fear, anxiety, depression, tormenting dreams, or strange illnesses. Why? Because salvation brings you into God's kingdom—but deliverance removes what’s still oppressing you from the old one.

🤔 Why Would a Christian Need Deliverance?

Many believers ask: If I’m saved, why do I need deliverance?
Because salvation secures your spirit for eternity—but deliverance sets your soul and body free now.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...” — Hosea 4:6

Spiritual doors can be opened through:

  • Personal sin

  • Sexual immorality

  • Witchcraft involvement

  • Family occult roots

  • Trauma, abuse, or rejection

  • Visiting a psychic, Reiki master, or yoga healer—even once

These open legal rights for demonic spirits to enter. If left unaddressed, Christians can suffer intense spiritual attacks, confusion, torment, and cycles of defeat.

🚫 Demonic Manifestations from Occult and Trauma Exposure

Here are real-life signs of demonic bondage if you or your ancestors dabbled in the occult:

  • Sleep paralysis or hearing voices

  • Chronic fear, suicidal thoughts

  • Tormenting dreams of snakes, shadows, or drowning

  • Financial ruin without cause

  • Repeated miscarriages or infertility

  • Intense resistance to reading Scripture or praying

  • Family patterns of abuse, addiction, or early death

“And give no opportunity to the devil.” — Ephesians 4:27

Even if the sin was committed by ancestors, demons can still claim legal ground through the bloodline (Exodus 20:5). Deliverance breaks those inherited chains.

🔥 What is Deliverance Ministry?

Deliverance ministry is a biblical practice of casting out demons and healing inner wounds caused by sin and trauma. It’s not spooky—it’s spiritual surgery.

Jesus said:

“These signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons.” — Mark 16:17

It involves:

  • Renouncing sin and occult involvement (yours or your ancestors’)

  • Breaking generational curses

  • Casting out demons in Jesus’ name

  • Healing the soul with the Holy Spirit’s power

🙌 How Can You Receive Deliverance?

  1. Acknowledge you need help

  2. Repent of personal and generational sins

  3. Renounce involvement in the occult, New Age, and trauma ties

  4. Seek trained deliverance ministers for one-on-one prayer

  5. Maintain your freedom by staying in the Word and worship

At Touch of God International Ministries, we offer:
✅ Personal ministry sessions
✅ A detailed Deliverance Prayer Manual
✅ Free bi-weekly webinars
✅ Thrive Group Mentoring for Women

📖 Biblical Proof of Deliverance

  • Jesus cast out demons daily — Luke 8:2, Mark 1:39

  • Paul delivered oppressed believers — Acts 16:16-18

  • We’re told to resist the devil — James 4:7

  • Deliverance is the children’s bread — Matthew 15:26

Jesus came to:

“Set the captives free... give liberty to those who are oppressed.” — Luke 4:18

So if you’re feeling stuck—it’s not weakness. It’s time for freedom!

🛑 Dangers of Ignoring Deliverance

Ignoring spiritual bondage can lead to:

  • Lifelong cycles of defeat

  • Emotional torment or panic attacks

  • Marriage destruction

  • Unexplained sickness

  • Blocking of your God-given destiny

Don’t tolerate what Jesus already died to remove!

✅ Take Action Now

Deliverance is not a one-time prayer—it’s a process of healing, renouncing, and replacing lies with God’s truth. If you’ve:

  • Been to a psychic, energy healer, or medium

  • Practiced yoga, centering prayer, or reiki

  • Suffered abuse, neglect, or repeated trauma

  • Been born into Freemasonry or ancestral idolatry

👉 You need deliverance.

✝️ Final Thoughts

God wants you completely free—spirit, soul, and body. Jesus didn’t just come to save you but to liberate you from every chain.

“If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.” — John 8:36

Now is the time. Take back what the enemy stole. Walk in healing, boldness, and freedom.

The Hidden Dangers of Drumming Circles for Christians

The Hidden Dangers of Drumming Circles for Christians

The Hidden Dangers of Drumming Circles for Christians

Drumming Circles: Spiritual Experience or Deceptive Practice? A Christian Perspective

In recent decades, drumming circles have become increasingly popular in the West, particularly among New Age practitioners and holistic wellness communities. Promoted as a tool for healing, connection, and spiritual awakening, these rhythmic gatherings draw participants into a communal drumming rhythm often under the moon's light. But behind the surface-level appeal of cultural exploration and inner peace lies a deeper spiritual danger that Christians must not ignore.

What Are Drumming Circles?

Drumming circles are ceremonial gatherings in which individuals—often sitting in a circle—play hand drums or percussion instruments together. These gatherings frequently occur outdoors and are particularly popular during new moon or full moon phases, when participants believe they are harnessing cosmic energy for healing or manifestation.

Practices vary, but often include:

  • Rhythmic drumming to induce altered states of consciousness.

  • Chanting or vocalizing prayers to the earth, the moon, or spirit guides.

  • Meditation or trance-like states, where participants feel they have spiritual encounters.

  • Ceremonial elements borrowed from Native American, African, or other indigenous traditions.

Though modern advocates see it as harmless community building or self-exploration, the roots and intent of these practices tell a very different story.

Where Did Drumming Circles Come From?

While drums have been used for centuries in nearly every culture, the ceremonial drumming circle in its modern form is largely a New Age invention. It borrows from a blend of tribal rituals without genuine understanding or respect for their sacred origins.

This blending often includes:

  • Native American powwow rhythms (intended for cultural rituals).

  • West African healing drum traditions (involving ancestral worship).

  • Shamanic drumming used to communicate with spirit worlds.

In other words, modern drumming circles often imitate pagan and animistic rituals, rebranded as wellness tools without confronting their spiritual implications.

How Does It Work?

The mechanism behind drumming circles is based on rhythm and repetition. Steady beats—especially those around 4 to 7 beats per second—can affect brainwave patterns, leading to theta brainwave activity, the same state experienced during deep meditation or hypnosis.

This creates:

  • A trance-like state.

  • A lowered mental guard.

  • Heightened suggestibility and emotional openness.

Proponents argue that this opens a door to higher consciousness. But from a biblical standpoint, this opens spiritual doors that should remain closed.

Why Christians Should Stay Away

Scripture consistently warns against practices that mimic pagan rituals or worship created things instead of the Creator. Drumming circles often:

  • Call on the moon, spirits, ancestors, or earth—blatant violations of God’s commandment.

  • Induce altered states of consciousness, leaving individuals vulnerable to demonic suggestion.

  • Promote a worldview based in pantheism and self-deification, rather than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." That alone is enough to caution Christians from participating in these events. Romans 1:25 also rebukes those who “worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator.”

Spiritual Consequences of Participation

Engaging in spiritual activities outside of God’s design is not neutral—it is dangerous. Just as Saul experienced torment after seeking a medium (1 Samuel 28), Christians who step outside of God’s boundaries risk spiritual consequences:

  • Mental torment: Confusion, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts.

  • Emotional instability: Heightened emotional sensitivity or depression.

  • Spiritual oppression: Increased spiritual warfare, including tormenting dreams, fear, and a sense of distance from God.

What seems like a “healing experience” can instead open the door to demonic intrusion. Participating in spiritual practices rooted in paganism—even unknowingly—can lead to bondage and oppression.

The Illusion of Healing

New Age practices, like drumming circles, mimic the form of healing but not the power. They offer temporary emotional release or a false sense of peace but fail to bring true freedom.

John 14:6 says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

No ritual, moon phase, or rhythmic beat can replace the redemptive, life-transforming work of Jesus Christ. True healing—spiritual, emotional, and mental—comes only through repentance, faith, and communion with the Holy Spirit.

How to Respond as a Christian

If you’ve participated in drumming circles, either knowingly or unknowingly, there is hope and freedom in Christ.

Steps to take:

  1. Repent: Acknowledge the sin of participating in forbidden spiritual practices.

  2. Renounce: Verbally renounce any ties to the rituals or spirits involved.

  3. Break agreement: Pray for God to sever any spiritual influence that entered through that doorway.

  4. Seek deliverance: Ask the Lord to heal and deliver you from any spiritual oppression.

  5. Replace lies with truth: Fill your mind with the Word of God and align your practices with Scripture.

Conclusion: Worship the Creator, Not the Creation

Drumming circles may seem like harmless fun or a spiritual journey, but beneath the surface lies a deceptive trap that can pull Christians away from Christ and into spiritual bondage.

We were made to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24), not through rituals that mimic paganism or entertain the enemy’s counterfeits. Stay alert. Stay sober. The enemy prowls like a lion (1 Peter 5:8), looking for any door left open.

Let us close the doors to deception and walk only in the light and freedom of Jesus Christ.

Methods of discernment:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Many occult practices in Christianity need to be discerned.  Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

🔥 Breaking Through Demonic Strongholds: Prayer for Deliverance and Lasting Freedom

How to Pray for Deliverance and Breakthrough: Keys to Casting Out Demon

🔥 Breaking Through Demonic Strongholds: Prayer for Deliverance and Lasting Freedom

🔥 Breaking Through Demonic Strongholds: Prayer for Deliverance and Lasting Freedom

Deliverance ministry isn’t a feel-good moment or casual prayer—it’s spiritual warfare. When praying for someone’s freedom, the battle is real. Demonic forces do not surrender willingly. If we do not understand the biblical foundation of deliverance and breakthrough, people remain tormented, bound, and spiritually blocked—even as believers.

🚨 The Danger of Ignorance

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”Hosea 4:6
Many Christians suffer for years because they do not know how the enemy operates. Others unknowingly open spiritual doors through unrepented sin, generational curses, ungodly soul ties, or engaging in occult practices—even if it was their ancestors.

Demons are legalists. They won’t leave without confession, renunciation, and repentance. This is why many deliverance prayers fail. The demons still have legal ground to stay.

🧠 Why Renewing the Mind is Vital After Deliverance

2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us:

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

But this doesn’t happen overnight. The "all things becoming new" is a progressive work. Just because someone is saved doesn’t mean their mind is renewed or their soul is free from strongholds.

Deliverance may cast out the demons, but if the person does not renew their mind with the Word of God, the enemy will return, often with even greater torment (Matthew 12:43-45).

🧱 Strongholds That Keep Christians Bound

Strongholds are deeply rooted thought patterns built from trauma, lies, sin, or demonic deception. Examples include:

  • “I’ll never be good enough.”

  • “God doesn’t care about me.”

  • “I have to control everything or bad things happen.”

These mental blocks become demonic fortresses, holding believers captive in fear, shame, anxiety, or rebellion.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”2 Corinthians 10:4

🗝️ Keys to True Deliverance

A deliverance minister must discern the root causes of bondage and lead the person through biblical steps of freedom:

1. Confession of Sin

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive…”1 John 1:9
Sin gives demons legal rights. Confession removes it.

2. Renunciation of Demonic Agreements

This breaks any ties made knowingly or unknowingly with witchcraft, occultism, Freemasonry, New Age practices, ancestral idolatry, or inner vows.

Example:

“In Jesus' name, I renounce all involvement in [occult practice], knowingly or through my ancestors. I break every curse in Jesus’ name.”

3. Breaking Soul Ties and Curses

Ungodly soul ties from sexual sin or trauma must be broken. Curses from Freemasonry, generational witchcraft, and rebellion must be severed in prayer.

4. Casting Out the Demons

“In my name they shall cast out devils…”Mark 16:17
With the legal rights removed, the demons can now be cast out in the name of Jesus Christ.

5. Renewing the Mind

After deliverance, the person must be taught to feed their spirit with God’s Word daily. This is critical. Without it, old habits and thought patterns return, allowing re-entry of the enemy.

🧨 Demonic Manifestations If Ignored

If a person receives prayer without full repentance, or if they go back to sin afterward, the results can be terrifying:

  • Intense nightmares, paralysis, or hearing voices

  • Sudden fear, depression, or violent mood swings

  • Blocked finances, job loss, or strife in relationships

  • Addiction relapse, lust, or chronic sickness

  • Spirit spouses, demonic dreams, or tormenting spirits

Even visiting a psychic, medium, yoga practitioner, or being prayed over by someone with unclean spirits can open demonic portals.

🧬 Generational Doorways Must Be Closed

Have your ancestors been involved in:

  • Witchcraft or sorcery?

  • Freemasonry or Eastern mysticism?

  • Catholic idolatry (praying to saints, Mary)?

  • African, Caribbean, Native American, or Asian paganism?

These open generational spiritual doorways and must be renounced and closed through prayer and fasting.

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”Proverbs 28:13

✝️ Final Thoughts: Deliverance Is Just the Beginning

Deliverance brings freedom, but discipleship keeps you free.

It’s not a one-time event—it’s a lifestyle of crucifying the flesh, renewing your mind, and walking in the Spirit. Christ has given us the power to defeat the enemy, but we must learn how to use it.

“Behold, I give unto you power… over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”Luke 10:19
