The Black Mass Exposed: A Demonic Mockery Christians Must Reject

The Black Mass is one of the most blasphemous and occult rituals in human history. It is not just a dark aesthetic or performance art—it is a deliberate inversion and mockery of Christian worship, especially the Holy Eucharist. Born from satanic rebellion and fueled by demonic forces, the Black Mass represents the full rejection of God and the embrace of evil. For Christians, understanding its origins and spiritual implications is critical.

Who Founded the Black Mass?

While the Black Mass has no known founder, it originated in medieval Europe, particularly during the 14th to 17th centuries. Early reports describe corrupt priests or occultists performing inverted versions of the Catholic Mass, often in secret, to mock Christ and summon demonic power. These rituals gained more attention during the witchcraft trials in France and Britain.

One of the most infamous figures connected to the Black Mass was Abbé Étienne Guibourg, a defrocked priest in 17th-century France who conducted satanic masses involving blood sacrifice during the reign of Louis XIV. Later, figures such as Aleister Crowley and Anton LaVey (founder of the Church of Satan) promoted similar blasphemous rituals in modern times.

The Belief Behind the Black Mass

The Black Mass is based on the belief that magical spells and rituals can harness occult forces or evil spirits to produce unnatural or supernatural effects in the world. It includes:

  • Inversion of Christian liturgy

  • Desecration of sacred objects

  • Invocation of Satan or demons

  • Sacrifice (real or symbolic)

  • Sexual perversion or ritual abuse

The participants believe that by mocking Christ, they gain power from demonic forces. This is not symbolic or theatrical—these are spiritual covenants made with darkness.

Spirituality and Cultural Origins

The Black Mass is rooted in Satanism, witchcraft, and occult mysticism. It emerged within a Western European culture where Christianity was dominant, but underground movements sought to subvert and destroy its influence.

Its practitioners are deeply spiritual, but in rebellion against God. They embrace doctrines of self-will, anti-authority, hatred of holiness, and worship of Satan or the self.

The ritual often uses elements of divination, demonic invocation, and ritual energy work. These are not neutral practices. They are spiritual crimes.

Who Are Their Gods?

Participants in the Black Mass may explicitly invoke:

  • Satan (as a being or archetype)

  • Lucifer (light-bearer, rebel against God) - lucifer same as satan

  • Baphomet (occult symbol of duality)

  • Other demons or pagan deities

These entities are not metaphorical. Scripture identifies them as real demonic powers (1 Corinthians 10:20). The rituals honor them as false gods in direct defiance of the one true God.

Is It Divination, Energy, or Something Else?

The Black Mass encompasses divination, ritual magic, and energy manipulation to gain forbidden knowledge, supernatural results, or demonic empowerment. Whether it’s called “magick,” “ritual performance,” or “dark energy,” it’s all a perversion of worship and a doorway to demonic bondage.

Scriptures Against Involvement

God has not left us in the dark about such practices. His Word speaks clearly:

  • Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – “There shall not be found among you anyone... who practices witchcraft or calls up the dead. For all who do these things are detestable to the Lord.”

  • Ephesians 5:11 – “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”

  • 1 Corinthians 10:21 – “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.”

  • Acts 19:19 – New believers burned their occult items after encountering Christ.

God does not permit syncretism. You cannot Christianize a ritual rooted in satanic blasphemy. If Jesus didn’t do it, neither should you.

Spiritual Consequences and Demonic Infestation

Participation—even passive—can open a door to demonic torment. This includes:

  • Emotional torment and spiritual oppression

  • Intrusive thoughts and suicidal ideation

  • Nightmares or sleep paralysis

  • Seeing orbs, shadow figures, or flashing lights

  • Hearing voices or unexplained noises

  • Confusion, paranoia, or overwhelming fear

These are signs of demonic infestation—real, destructive consequences of engaging with the occult. Many people require deliverance through the name and blood of Jesus to be set free (James 4:7, Mark 16:17).

Christians Must Completely Reject the Black Mass

There is no redemptive value in anything related to the Black Mass. It is not cultural, artistic, or academic—it is a demonic parody of the holiest act in Christianity. God commands His people to be separate from darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14-17). We cannot “redeem” what was born in hell.

If you or someone you know has dabbled in the occult or attended such rituals, repent, renounce, and receive healing through Jesus Christ. Freedom is found in Him alone.

Methods of discernment:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Many occult practices in Christianity need to be discerned.  Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

If you've been involved in a new age, occult, or cult, it can invite demonic spirits to torment you. If you feel tormented, you may need deliverance.
