Why Applied Kinesiology Is Not Accepted by God: A Biblical Warning
Applied kinesiology, often practiced within alternative medicine, claims to diagnose illnesses and imbalances through muscle testing. While it may appear scientific or harmless, it is deeply rooted in spiritual practices contradicting God's Word. Christians should be discerning and avoid any method that taps into spiritual realms outside of God's guidance.
Applied kinesiology often relies on a practitioner “tapping into” unseen energies or using muscle strength to learn about internal issues or treatment paths. This bypasses scientific evidence and instead mirrors divination practices—seeking hidden knowledge through supernatural means. The Bible clearly condemns divination in all its forms. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 warns:
"There shall not be found among you anyone who... uses divination, or is a soothsayer... For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord."
Even if muscle testing appears to "work," we must question the source of that power. Is it from God, or from deceptive spirits? Satan often disguises lies as truth (2 Corinthians 11:14). Just because something produces results does not mean it is righteous. Remember, in Acts 16:16, Paul confronted a slave girl who practiced divination and made accurate predictions. Though she spoke truth, her power came from a demonic source—not from God.
Applied kinesiology promotes a worldview where health and insight are found through human intuition, energy balancing, and hidden forces—rather than through God’s wisdom, prayer, and sound medical counsel. This is dangerous spiritually. Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Depending on muscle testing for insight is leaning on human or mystical sources, not on the Lord.
Christians are called to test every spirit (1 John 4:1) and avoid any practice that could open doors to deception. Even if performed with good intentions, engaging in applied kinesiology aligns us with practices rooted in the occult.
In conclusion, applied kinesiology is not just an alternative therapy—it is a form of divination masked as health practice. As followers of Christ, we must reject what God rejects. Instead, seek healing and guidance through prayer, Scripture, and trustworthy medical care, always keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus, the true source of wisdom and healing.
Methods of discernment:
• Who was the founder of this modality?
• What was his/her spirituality?
• What culture did it come out of?
• What were their beliefs?
• Who is their God or gods?
Many occult practices in Christianity need to be discerned. Another method of discernment is the word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we will discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.
