The word chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit, and in Eastern spiritual traditions, chakras are believed to be spinning vortexes of energy within the human body. There are seven main chakras, each corresponding to physical, emotional, and spiritual states.

Chakras are gateways between the body and “soul consciousness,” often called the “windows to the soul.” Practitioners claim blocked or misaligned chakras can lead to illness or emotional turmoil. They can be cleansed or activated through techniques like meditation, yoga, crystals, Reiki, or sound healing.

While this may sound harmless or even beneficial, the spiritual roots of chakra cleansing are deeply occult and incompatible with the Christian faith.

Who Founded Chakra Cleansing?

Chakra theory does not originate from a single founder but is rooted in ancient Hinduism and Tantric Buddhism, dating to around 1500–500 BC. The earliest texts referencing chakras are found in Vedic scriptures, such as the Upanishads, and were later elaborated upon in Tantric spiritual practices.

These traditions describe the chakras as part of a complex energetic body that interacts with divine forces or cosmic energy. Over time, chakra philosophy was adopted by various New Age and occult movements, especially in the West during the 20th century, combined with psychic healing, meditation, yoga, and energy work.

What Is the Belief Behind Chakra Cleansing?

At the core of chakra cleansing is the belief that the human body contains subtle energy centers that must be balanced and aligned for spiritual health. It presumes that spiritual enlightenment and healing come from within the individual or from manipulating unseen energies.

This belief system is pantheistic, meaning God is seen as a force or energy that permeates all things, rather than a personal, holy, and sovereign Creator. In chakra cleansing, there is no concept of sin or repentance—only energy imbalances that must be corrected through human effort or ritual.

This denies the gospel of Jesus Christ and replaces it with a man-centered, mystical approach to spirituality that opens doors to deception and demonic influence.

What Culture and Religion Is It From?

Chakras are primarily rooted in Hindu and Buddhist religious systems. Both are polytheistic and idolatrous, worshipping numerous deities such as Shiva, Vishnu, Lakshmi, and Kali. These religions engage in spiritual rituals, mantra chanting, and meditation to awaken the kundalini energy, believed to lie dormant at the base of the spine and rise through the chakras for spiritual awakening.

Therefore, chakra work is not merely physical or psychological—it is deeply spiritual and intentionally designed to connect with spiritual realms that are not of God.

Is It Divination or Energy Healing?

Chakra cleansing falls under energy healing and divination, both strictly forbidden in the Bible. The use of chakras to read spiritual health or predict emotional conditions is a form of divination, as it attempts to access secret knowledge through spiritual channels outside of God.

“Anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer… is detestable to the Lord.” — Deuteronomy 18:10-12

The Danger for Christians

Christians are warned not to adopt the practices of pagan nations or false religions. Chakra cleansing may seem like a neutral health technique, but its roots are in demonic spirituality and false gods. Engaging in these practices, even unknowingly, can lead to - it can awaken the kundalini spirit.

Emotional torment
Nightmares or spiritual oppression
Seeing shadows, orbs, or unexplained lights
Hearing voices or experiencing confusion
Intrusive or tormenting thoughts
Persistent fear and unease

These are signs of demonic infestation, often requiring deliverance through prayer, repentance, and renouncing involvement in occult practices.

Why Christians Must Reject Chakra Cleansing

You cannot take a pagan practice, repackage it, and label it as “Christian.” Jesus never cleansed chakras, activated energy centers, or taught energy healing. Instead, He cast out demons, healed the sick by His authority, and called for repentance and faith in Him.

“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

All physical, emotional, and spiritual healing must come through Jesus Christ, not mystical rituals or New Age philosophies. Any attempt to use chakra cleansing or similar modalities opens the door to spiritual deception and bondage.

Methods of discernment:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Many occult practices in Christianity need to be discerned. Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

Prayer to pray if you have been involved with Chakra cleansing: - “Father God in Jesus' name, I repent for the Occult belief in chakras and chakra cleansing. I repent for opening any doors or gates to the demonic in Jesus' name. I open every door and gate to my spirit/soul and physical body to the Lord Jesus Christ, Father God, and His Holy Spirit, and invite You in. I repent for any attempt to cleanse and heal blockages in my spirit/soul and physical body without the Lord Jesus Christ. I declare that I can only be cleansed, healed, and made whole by His precious sacrifice and blood to remit sin. Any attempt to do this myself using any form of occult energy is a sin, and I repent in Jesus' name. I cast out in Jesus' name every demon who has been involved with chakra cleansing and anything else I have used to remove energy blocks from my spirit, soul, and physical body. I now close every gate and door to the demonic and command that they can only ever exit and not enter in Jesus' name, Amen.”

Practitioners use their thumbs or fingers to perform subtle, rolling movements across muscles, tendons, and fascia. The therapist often leaves the room between these movements for a few minutes, claiming that the body needs time to “absorb” the signals and begin self-healing. While this method may appear harmless or even relaxing, the deeper roots and spiritual implications of Bowen Therapy reveal a troubling connection to New Age energy healing and occult philosophy—a serious concern for any follower of Jesus Christ.

Who Founded Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy was developed by Thomas Ambrose Bowen (1916–1982), an Australian with no formal medical training. Despite this, he claimed his technique could help the body heal naturally. Bowen reportedly received his inspiration through what he called a "gift from God" or intuition, although he could not fully explain how he developed the movements.

This is common in New Age and occult circles, where many healing techniques are said to be “revealed” through spiritual insight, divine messages, or even channeled wisdom. The Bible warns us about revelations that do not come from God but from familiar spirits (Leviticus 19:31, 1 Timothy 4:1).

What Is the Belief System Behind It?

Though Bowen Therapy is marketed as a physical therapy, its core philosophy is rooted in the belief that the body can heal itself when properly "triggered". These "triggers" are often energetic, implying that the body stores trauma, imbalance, or disease that must be released or realigned.

This is a hallmark of New Age healing, which incorporates beliefs from Eastern mysticism, energy manipulation, and even forms of divination. The idea that a therapist can stimulate “energy flow” or guide the body’s innate wisdom to heal itself reflects a worldview that is entirely contrary to Biblical Christianity. It removes the focus from Jesus Christ as the healer and places healing in the hands of mystical bodywork and energy theories.

What Spirituality or Culture Is Behind Bowen Therapy?

Though Thomas Bowen did not publicly adhere to a specific religion, his approach aligns closely with New Age spirituality, which borrows heavily from Hindu, Taoist, and occult philosophies. These systems believe in an impersonal universal energy (often called chi, prana, or life force) that flows through the body and must be balanced for health. This belief is not scientific—it is spiritual, and deeply pagan.

Such ideas stem from cultures that worship multiple gods or believe in a cosmic force rather than a personal, sovereign God. These systems do not acknowledge sin, salvation, or the authority of Jesus Christ. Instead, healing is seen as a self-directed process powered by mystical energies.

"For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator..." — Romans 1:25

Can Christians Use It?

Absolutely not. While the movements may seem physically harmless, the spiritual philosophy behind Bowen Therapy is not. The Bible clearly warns us not to engage with practices rooted in false religion or occultism.

“What fellowship can light have with darkness?” — 2 Corinthians 6:14
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” — Romans 12:2

Attempting to “Christianize” a New Age or occult practice does not sanctify it. If Jesus didn’t do it, and if it doesn’t point to the cross, we should not participate in it.

Many believers who dabble in occult healing methods suffer from spiritual torment as a result. Symptoms often include:

Bypassing the curses - instead of looking at the spiritual roots of disease
Heal yourself - no dependence on God

Bloodletting, the ancient practice of removing blood to cure or prevent illness, dates back thousands of years. Though today it seems outdated or even barbaric, bloodletting was once a mainstream medical treatment rooted in a deeply spiritual and philosophical system known as humoralism. For Christians seeking true healing through Jesus Christ, it is essential to understand the origins of such practices and why participating in them—even in modern or disguised forms—can open the door to demonic torment and spiritual bondage.

The Founder and Origins of Bloodletting

Bloodletting as a practice does not have a single identifiable founder. It evolved over centuries, rooted in ancient Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Greek, and Roman cultures. The earliest records trace back to the Egyptians around 1000 BC, but it was Hippocrates, often called the "Father of Medicine" (c. 460 – c. 370 BC), and later Galen of Pergamon (129 – c. 216 AD), who codified and expanded the theory of humorism that gave rise to bloodletting as a standard practice.

According to humorism, the human body was governed by four humors: blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile. Health was believed to result from a perfect balance of these fluids. Illness, conversely, was thought to stem from an imbalance, especially an excess of blood. The solution? Drain the excess.

The Spiritual Roots of Humorism

The theory of the four humors was not just medical; it was deeply spiritual and philosophical. It arose from pagan Greek thought, heavily influenced by natural philosophy, astrology, and mysticism. Practitioners believed the body was governed by cosmic forces, seasons, and even the alignment of planets. Health was about harmony with the universe, not submission to the Creator.

These beliefs align with pantheistic and polytheistic worldviews, where gods and spirits controlled aspects of life and nature. Greek and Roman deities such as Asclepius, the god of healing, were invoked for cures. Healing was often sought through rituals, incantations, and sacrifices.

This system was not based on truth from God’s Word but on human philosophy, nature worship, and divination. Therefore, bloodletting and similar practices come from a false religious system—a system that bypasses the curse of sin and denies the need for salvation through Jesus Christ.

Can Christians Redeem Pagan Healing Practices?

The short answer is no. Scripture is clear that believers must not adopt pagan practices or attempt to “Christianize” them.

“Do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who…practices divination or sorcery…” — Deuteronomy 18:9-10

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” — Ephesians 5:11

Practices like bloodletting—especially those rooted in occult philosophies, false gods, and mystical energy manipulation—cannot be repackaged for Christian use. Healing does not come from manipulating the body’s fluids or balancing energies. Healing comes from Jesus Christ alone, the Great Physician.

To attempt to use methods rooted in pagan or occult belief systems is to open a spiritual door to demonic oppression. Many who have participated in New Age healing practices or ancient occult modalities report symptoms such as:

Death from releasing too much blood
Weakness

These are not just psychological issues—they can be spiritual infestations. Deliverance through Jesus Christ is often needed to restore peace and freedom.

A Call to Discernment

Christians must test everything by Scripture. If Jesus didn’t do it and His apostles didn’t teach it, it has no place in the believer’s life. Bloodletting and the occult philosophies that birthed it fall into that category.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” — Colossians 2:8

Instead of trusting in ancient philosophies and false gods, we are called to trust Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord who heals. He heals not only our bodies but our souls, minds, and spirits.

The Black Mass is one of the most blasphemous and occult rituals in human history. It is not just a dark aesthetic or performance art—it is a deliberate inversion and mockery of Christian worship, especially the Holy Eucharist. Scriptures Against Involvement

God has not left us in the dark about such practices. His Word speaks clearly:

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – “There shall not be found among you anyone... who practices witchcraft or calls up the dead. For all who do these things are detestable to the Lord.”

Black magic has roots in various ancient religions:

Babylon: Magicians and astrologers tried to control destiny and communicate with spirits.
Egypt: Priests used spells from the "Book of the Dead" to guide spirits and manipulate gods.
India: Tantric rituals mixed sexuality and magic to access hidden spiritual realms.
Europe: During the Middle Ages, grimoires (magic books) were used to summon demons for knowledge, love, or revenge.

The core belief in all these systems is the same: that humans can become god-like by manipulating spiritual forces, bypassing submission to the Creator.

Who Are Their Gods?

Black magic often involves invoking:

Ancient deities (Baal, Isis, Marduk)
Nature spirits
Fallen angels or demons
Satan himself in Satanic or Luciferian systems

The Bible is clear that these are not gods but demons (Deuteronomy 32:17; 1 Corinthians 10:20). Any attempt to access power apart from God aligns the practitioner with the kingdom of darkness.

Divination, Energy, or Something Else?

Black magic includes divination, energy manipulation, and direct demonic communication. Today, it is often disguised through more acceptable names like:

Astrology
Tarot cards
Spell casting
Crystal healing
Candle magic
“Manifestation” rituals

But no matter how it’s dressed up, it’s still rebellion against God. These practices claim power apart from Christ and open spiritual doors to demonic oppression.

Biblical Warnings Against Black Magic

God gives stern warnings against any form of occult involvement:

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – “Let no one be found among you who... practices divination or sorcery… Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”
Galatians 5:19–21 – “Those who practice sorcery... will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Acts 19:19 – New believers burned their books of magic, demonstrating full repentance.
Leviticus 19:31 – “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.”

Christians Cannot Redeem Pagan Practices

There is a dangerous trend in some circles to “Christianize” practices that have occult roots. But you cannot take something born in rebellion, slap a Bible verse on it, and make it holy. If Jesus didn’t do it, teach it, or command it, Christians must reject it.

We are not called to borrow from darkness—we are called to expose it (Ephesians 5:11).

Demonic Infestation and the Need for Deliverance

Engaging with black magic or any occult practice can open the door to demonic torment, even for believers. Common symptoms of demonic infestation include:

Emotional torment and depression
Tormenting intrusive thoughts
Nightmares and sleep paralysis
Seeing shadow figures, orbs, or lights
Hearing voices or whispers
Spiritual confusion and fear

These are not psychological quirks; they are spiritual battles. If you or someone you know has dabbled in occult practices, deliverance may be necessary. Freedom and peace can be restored through repentance, renouncing, and prayer in Jesus' name.

Final Call: Jesus Is Enough

The allure of black magic is about power, control, and hidden knowledge. But it is a lie. Only in Jesus is there true spiritual authority, peace, and healing. Everything else is a counterfeit that leads to bondage and destruction.

Christians must renounce all connections to the occult, burn their magic items (literally or spiritually), and cling to the cross of Christ. He is enough.

Birthstones and the Occult: Why Christians Must Avoid This Spiritual Trap

At first glance, birthstones seem harmless—colorful gems associated with birth months, worn as jewelry or gifts. But beneath their glittering surface lies a spiritual system deeply rooted in occultism, astrology, and pagan beliefs. For Christians committed to truth and freedom in Christ, examining the origins, spiritual implications, and scriptural warnings about engaging with birthstones and their associated practices is essential.

The Origin of Birthstones

The concept of birthstones traces back to ancient Babylon and the zodiac-based astrological systems, where gemstones were linked to the twelve signs. Later, Jewish historian Josephus (1st century AD) and Christian scholar St. Jerome (4th century AD) connected the 12 stones on Aaron’s breastplate (Exodus 28:17–20) with the 12 months and zodiac signs. This was never a biblical teaching—only a speculative connection that later cultures adapted into a belief system.

The modern list of birthstones was solidified in 1912 by the American National Retail Jewelers Association. Their motives were commercial but drew from centuries of mystical associations tied to the stones. What started as pagan astrology became mainstream, masked in cultural tradition.

Spirituality and Culture Behind Birthstones

Birthstones are deeply tied to astrology, Hindu mysticism, Babylonian spirituality, and New Age energy beliefs. In Hindu culture, Navaratna (nine gems) are believed to correspond with celestial deities and are worn to balance planetary influences. Similarly, New Age and occult practitioners claim birthstones hold healing energy, emotional balancing powers, or even spiritual protection.

This spirituality assumes power exists outside of God and can be accessed, channeled, or manipulated through physical objects—a clear violation of biblical teaching.

Beliefs and Deities Behind the Practice

The gods behind these systems are not the God of Scripture. In Hinduism, gems are associated with planetary gods like Surya (sun) and Chandra (moon). In Babylonian religion, celestial gods ruled the zodiac and influenced human destiny. In New Age belief, the "universe" or “energy” becomes a replacement deity.

The Bible is clear: these are false gods and demonic forces (Deuteronomy 32:17, 1 Corinthians 10:20). Any spiritual power outside of the Holy Spirit is counterfeit and dangerous.

Is It Divination or Energy?

Both. Birthstones fall into the categories of divination and energy manipulation. Many people use them for horoscopes, spiritual guidance, or chakra healing. These practices claim hidden knowledge, energy alignment, and emotional healing, all apart from the Gospel.

Using physical objects to access supernatural power is a form of occultism. Whether called astrology, healing crystals, or energy work—it is all spiritual rebellion cloaked in “wellness” or “tradition.”

Scriptures That Warn Against This

God gives no room for compromise:

Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – “There shall not be found among you... one who practices divination... or interprets omens… For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.”
Isaiah 47:13–14 – God mocks Babylon for trusting astrologers and star-gazers: “Let them save you... Behold, they are like stubble.”
Acts 19:19 – Believers burned magic scrolls worth a fortune when they turned to Jesus.
Galatians 5:19–21 – Sorcery is a work of the flesh that prevents entrance into the Kingdom of God.

Wearing birthstones for protection, healing, or “luck” is spiritual adultery. If Jesus didn’t wear gemstones to heal or cast out demons, neither should we. You can’t convert a pagan object into a Christian tool—it remains defiled.

Spiritual Dangers for Christians

Many believers unknowingly open themselves to demonic torment by using birthstones or other New Age practices. These are not neutral items—they carry spiritual weight. Symptoms of demonic infestation may include:

Emotional torment and mental fog
Trapping to pull you away from the things of God

These are signs not of "bad energy" but of demonic influence, which can enter through open spiritual doors. Birthstones, when treated as more than decorative, can be such doors. Deliverance through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ is often needed for peace to return (James 4:7, Mark 16:17).

Final Warning: Don't Imitate Paganism

Just because a practice is widespread, beautiful, or culturally accepted doesn’t mean it’s harmless. You cannot redeem the unredeemable. God calls us to holiness, not syncretism. What He forbade in Israel, He forbids now. If Jesus didn’t use gemstones for healing or spiritual alignment, Christians shouldn't either.

True peace, identity, and healing come only from the cross, not from crystals or cosmic forces. Put your trust in Christ alone.

The Dark Roots of the Black Arts: Why Christians Must Steer Clear

The term Black Arts refers to practices that fall under the occult—sorcery, necromancy, divination, and ritual magic—used to manipulate spiritual forces for personal gain or insight. These arts have always been tied to spiritual forces opposed to the God of the Bible. For Christians, understanding the origins, beliefs, and dangers of these practices is vital to protecting one’s spiritual well-being and remaining faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Origins and Founder of the Black Arts

The Black Arts don't have a singular human founder but are rooted in ancient pagan cultures such as Babylon, Egypt, and later medieval Europe. These practices were often passed down through esoteric knowledge, mystery schools, and secret societies. In modern history, figures like Aleister Crowley, often called "the most wicked man in the world," popularized ceremonial magic and explicitly demonic rituals. Crowley’s teachings inspired various occult movements, such as Thelema, Wicca, and parts of the New Age movement.

Spirituality Behind the Black Arts

The spirituality associated with the Black Arts is not neutral or benign—it is deeply anti-Christian and explicitly pagan. It often includes communication with “spirit guides,” channeling of energies, ancestor worship, and the invocation of deities or demons. This worldview claims that spiritual power is attainable through human effort and esoteric knowledge, not through a relationship with the one true God. These practices deny the sufficiency of Christ and seek power apart from Him.

Cultural Context and Beliefs

The Black Arts emerged from cultures steeped in idolatry and false gods. Babylon, for example, was a hub for astrologers, diviners, and magicians (see Daniel 2:2). These cultures believed in manipulating unseen forces through rituals, talismans, chants, or alignment with celestial bodies. Many of their gods were spirits of the dead, fallen angels, or elemental forces. Such beliefs are in direct opposition to biblical doctrine, which declares that there is one true God (Isaiah 45:5) and that spiritual power belongs to Him alone (Psalm 62:11).

Divination, Energy, or Something Else?

The Black Arts often use divination (seeking hidden knowledge through supernatural means), energy manipulation (as in Reiki, chakras, or crystals), and other metaphysical techniques. These are not mere “tools” but doorways to spiritual deception. Christians cannot sanitize or “Christianize” these methods. Just because something appears to produce peace or healing does not mean it is from God. Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

God or gods?

The deities invoked in the Black Arts vary by tradition—Egyptian gods like Thoth and Isis, Norse gods like Odin, or demonic entities masked as “ascended masters” or “spirit guides.” These are not harmless cultural figures; they are demons in disguise (Deuteronomy 32:17; 1 Corinthians 10:20). Worship or even passive engagement with these beings is idolatry, and it places one under demonic influence.

Why Christians Must Not Participate

Scripture is clear and uncompromising:

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 – “Let no one be found among you... who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft... Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”
Acts 19:19 – Early believers who practiced magic burned their scrolls publicly as a sign of repentance.
Galatians 5:19-21 – Sorcery is listed among the acts of the flesh, which disqualify a person from inheriting the kingdom of God.

There is no room for blending the occult with Christianity. You cannot take a modality that originates from demonic deception and try to convert it into a “Christian version.” If Jesus did not do it, teach it, or endorse it, neither should we. He did not balance energy, read auras, or consult the stars—He cast out demons, healed by the Holy Spirit, and always pointed to the Father.

Spiritual Consequences

Christians who open themselves up to occult or New Age practices can experience demonic oppression—emotional torment, nightmares, hear voices, see orbs or lights or something from the corner of their eye, confusion, and fear. In more serious cases, they may require deliverance (Mark 16:17). Only the blood of Jesus, repentance, and renunciation of these practices can bring freedom and lasting peace.

Final Warning

The seductive nature of the Black Arts lies in their promise of empowerment and hidden knowledge, but in reality, they lead to spiritual bondage and deception. Christians must remain vigilant, discerning, and grounded in the Word of God. True healing, peace, and power are found in Jesus Christ alone, not in occult modalities disguised as light.
