How to Repent and Renounce Sin for Deliverance and Freedom
The Bible tells us that confession of sin is necessary for salvation—but for full deliverance and freedom, true repentance and renunciation must follow.
What Does “Renounce” Mean?
To renounce is to publicly disown, reject, and forsake something evil or unclean. It's more than feeling sorry—it's cutting ties with sin, Satan, and anything that once ruled over you.
“As we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty...”
—2 Corinthians 4:1-2
✝️ Two Biblical Reasons to Renounce Sin
✅ Reason #1: To Provide Evidence of a Transformed Life
When believers publicly renounced occult practices and burned witchcraft books, it proved God’s power and caused revival to spread.
“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together and burned them... So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
—Acts 19:18–20
Your public renunciation becomes a testimony and a weapon in the spiritual realm.
✅ Reason #2: To Stay Free from Demonic Bondage
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
—Proverbs 28:13“As the bird by wandering... so the curse causeless shall not come.”
—Proverbs 26:2
Sin opens legal doors to demons. Demons accuse, torment, and oppress where repentance is lacking. But when we renounce and forsake, the curse is broken, and legal rights are revoked.
🚨 What Happens If We Don't Renounce?
Unrepented sin invites demonic attachment. Jesus may have forgiven you, but if you’re still entangled, demons still have a foothold. Many Christians suffer mental torment, anxiety, poverty, lust, addiction, and unexplained illnesses—because the door remains open.
“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh... the works of the flesh... they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
—Galatians 5:16–21
🧱 The Works of the Flesh Must Be Renounced
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication... idolatry, witchcraft... murders, drunkenness... and such like...”
—Galatians 5:19–21
These aren’t minor issues—they give demons legal ground. If we continually practice them without true repentance, we forfeit spiritual inheritance.
🧎♂️ What Needs to Be Renounced?
1. Personal Sins
These are sins you committed that grieved God. Even after salvation, if not renounced, demons may remain.
Renunciation prayer example:
_“I humble myself before the Lord. I confess and renounce the sin(s) of ______. I break all legal rights of the enemy and expel every associated demon in Jesus' name.”
2. Ancestral Sins (Generational Curses)
Even if you didn’t commit the sins of your forefathers, demonic spirits still travel through bloodlines unless severed.
Renunciation prayer:
_“I renounce all ancestral and generational sins in my bloodline, especially ______. I break every curse and command every demon to leave me in Jesus’ name.”
3. Sins Done Against You
Abuse, molestation, witchcraft, and manipulation by others can leave spiritual residue and trauma that must be healed and renounced.
Renunciation prayer:
_“I renounce the sins done to me, including ______. I break the soul ties, curses, and demonic entrance these actions caused. I forgive and release them in Jesus’ name.”
❗️ You Must Forgive and Renounce Together
If you’ve been hurt, abused, abandoned, or molested, you must forgive the abuser. Unforgiveness keeps demonic doors open.
“If ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
—Matthew 6:15
4. False Religions and Occult Involvement
“What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? …Come out from among them and be ye separate.”
—2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Even if you "just dabbled," it gave legal ground to demonic spirits.
Renunciation prayer:
_“I renounce every involvement in false religion and occult practices including _____. I break all covenants, curses, and demonic rights in Jesus’ name.”
Occult Religions Include:
Wicca, Witchcraft, Freemasonry, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Islam, Buddhism, New Age, Santeria, Taoism, Hinduism, Kabala, Satanism, Christian Science, Atheism, Agnosticism, and all systems that deny Jesus Christ as Lord.
5. Objects Offensive to God
Even physical items can carry demonic attachments. Ask God to show you what needs to go.
Examples of cursed objects:

Occult books (Witchcraft, Wicca, Satanic Bible)

Pagan statues, idols, crystals

Harry Potter books, Magic cards, Pokémon items

Pornography
-
Yoga paraphernalia
-
Dreamcatchers, spirit masks
-
Drugs, sex toys, horror movies
Prayer:
“Lord, reveal to me every item in my possession that is offensive to You. I renounce and destroy every cursed object in Jesus’ name.”

🩸 Bitterness & Rejection:
Unforgiveness, rage, hatred, violence, suicide, self-hatred, rejection
🗣️ Accusation & Gossip:
False accusation, backbiting, slander, judging
👁️🗨️ Perversion & Sexual Sin:
Fornication, masturbation, pornography, sodomy, incest, molestation, homosexuality, bestiality, adultery
🕯️ Occult & Witchcraft:
Rebellion, sorcery, idolatry, control, necromancy, spirit guides, horoscopes
😨 Fear:
Doubt, anxiety, unbelief, torment
💣 Break Free Through Bold Renunciation
Every sin, curse, or occult practice must be confessed, renounced, and cut off. This is how you reclaim your soul and body from demonic bondage.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

🕊️ Prayer of Repentance & Renunciation
Repeat this prayer out loud and mean it from the heart:
“Heavenly Father, I repent for all my sins, known and unknown. I renounce every sin, iniquity, and rebellion in my life and bloodline. I sever ties with every false god, demonic spirit, soul tie, cursed object, and evil covenant. In the name of Jesus, I command every evil spirit that entered through these sins to leave me now. I am bought by the blood of Jesus and belong to Him alone. Amen!”
