God-Truth vs. Foreknowledge: Why Christians Should Question Precognition

God-Truth vs. Foreknowledge: Why Christians Should Question Precognition

God-Truth vs. Foreknowledge: Why Christians Should Question Precognition

Humans have long been fascinated by the idea of precognition — the supposed ability to know or sense future events before they happen. From eerie dreams to intuitive flashes, precognitive experiences are reported in many cultures. But from a biblical / Christian standpoint, precognition raises serious spiritual and theological questions. Is precognition simply an innocent intuition, or does it fall under forbidden divination? Is it inconsistent with God’s sovereignty? This article explores what precognition is, its beliefs and origins, its spiritual framework, what purpose it serves, why people are drawn to it — and whether or not it is divination or deviation from God’s Word.

What Is Precognition? Beliefs & Definitions

  • Definition: Precognition means “fore-knowledge,” especially knowledge of events before they occur, often considered a psychic or extrasensory ability. Wikipedia+2Encyclopedia Britannica+2

  • People who believe in precognition report dreams, visions, intuitive impressions, or sometimes auditory or visual flashes of future events. It may occur spontaneously, often in states like dreams, meditation, or in moments of heightened sensitivity. themystica.com+2Wikipedia+2

  • Though widely believed, there is no conclusive scientific evidence that precognition is real, and it is classified by many as pseudoscience. It also poses logical problems, like violating causality (events occurring before their natural causes). Wikipedia+2Encyclopedia Britannica+2

Who Created the Idea / Where Did It Come From?

  • The term comes from Latin praecognitio (“before knowledge”). Etymology Online+1

  • Precognitive beliefs are ancient. Many cultures have traditions of prophetic dreams, oracles, seers, or similar phenomena (ancient Israel, Greece, indigenous peoples, etc.). Encyclopedia Britannica+2Wikipedia+2

  • In modern times, parapsychology (e.g. J. B. Rhine) has studied extrasensory perception (ESP), including precognition, though results are disputed. Encyclopedia Britannica+1

Who Is Their God or Gods? Spiritual / Religious Framework

  • Precognition isn’t always associated with a specific god or pantheon. Often it is framed in terms of impersonal spiritual forces, universal energy, psychic or spiritual sensitivity, or through connection to divine beings in various religious or mystical traditions.

  • In some frameworks, precognition is either a gift from a divine being (or God), or the result of tapping into unseen spiritual realms (spirits, ancestors, astral entities, etc.). The precise spiritual “authority” depends on the surrounding belief system.

  • Some claim that biblical prophets had precognitive experiences, but in their cases, the source was God. That is different from claiming a human-controlled or independent psychic ability outside direct revelation. GotQuestions.org+2Encyclopedia Britannica+2

Purpose & Why It’s Used / Why People Are Drawn to It

  • People may use or pursue precognition to gain control over uncertainty, to predict outcomes, avoid harm, or make decisions more confidently. Research shows belief in precognition often increases when people feel out of control. PubMed+1

  • For some, precognition offers comfort or reassurance — feeling that there is some order beyond randomness, or that future misfortune can be avoided or at least anticipated.

  • Other motives: curiosity, spiritual experience, psychic or mystical gift, personal power, desire for insight, wanting to help others (warning them ahead), or influence future events.

  • Some may confuse prophetic or spiritual insight (in a Christian context) with psychic precognition, treating both as similar though the differences are significant in theology.

Is It Divination or Deviation?

  • Divination in the Bible is The practice of seeking knowledge of the future or hidden things apart from God, often via mediums, omens, astrology, necromancy, or spiritistic channels. Scripture condemns it. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Leviticus; Isaiah; Revelation) GotQuestions.org+2Bible Hub+2

  • If someone claims precognition via psychic ability, ESP, or other spiritual means apart from God, many Christian thinkers consider that to be divination (or closely akin) and therefore forbidden.

  • However, there is an important distinction: prophecy from God (as in biblical prophets) is accepted in Scripture. These prophets were chosen by God, communicated God’s Word, often to warn or instruct the people. That is different from individuals claiming spontaneous or self-derived foreknowledge via psychic or occult means.

  • So, is precognition a deviation? Many Christians believe yes, if it is claimed through occult or psychic means. If someone believes God reveals future things in a biblical prophetic way, that may be acceptable in certain Christian traditions. But the risk of deception or relying on non-biblical spiritual sources is high.

Why It Is Seen As Against the Bible / God

  • Because trusting in precognition can shift one’s reliance from God’s sovereign will, Scripture, prayer, and faith, to human-derived or mystical experiences.

  • It often involves seeking knowledge not authorized by God, possibly opening doors to false spirits, deception, or confusion.

  • The Bible repeatedly warns against divination, mediumship, sorcery, and other practices that attempt to access hidden knowledge outside God’s revelation. (Deut. 18; Isaiah; Galatians; Revelation) GotQuestions.org

  • It may lead people away from repentance, faith in Christ, and obedience, substituting fascination with supernatural knowledge.

  • Also, because many claims of precognition are vague, subjective, and often unverified, they may prey on fear, uncertainty, or desire for control — areas in which Christian teaching calls believers to trust in God rather than in their own insight or occultic tools.

Conclusion

Precognition is a belief in foreknowledge of events before they happen, often linked to dreams, intuition, psychic experiences, or spiritual sensitivity. While it has deep roots in human history and many claim benefit or warning from it, from a biblical Christian perspective there is good reason for caution. When claimed through non-God sources, when divorced from biblical prophetic tradition, or when used to bypass God, Scripture views precognition as close to or part of forbidden divination. For those committed to following Christ, discernment, relying on Scripture, prayer, and avoiding spiritual practices not grounded in God’s Word are essential.

Energy Healing or Occult? A Christian View on Pranic Healing

Energy Healing or Occult? A Christian View on Pranic Healing

Energy Healing or Occult? A Christian View on Pranic Healing

In recent decades, Pranic Healing has gained popularity worldwide as an energy-healing modality. Founded by Choa Kok Sui in the 1980s, it teaches that the human physical body is surrounded by an “aura” or energy field, and that “life force” (called prana) can be manipulated to cleanse, energize, and restore health, emotions, and even spiritual well-being. While many report benefits, from a biblical Christian perspective there are serious concerns: many see Pranic Healing as conflicting with Scripture, possibly even falling under divination or occult practice. This article examines its beliefs, origins, spiritual foundations, whether it qualifies as divination, and why Christians should exercise caution.

What Were Their Beliefs?

Pranic Healing is built on several core beliefs:

  • Humans are not just physical but have an energetic body or aura surrounding them. Energy centers or “chakras” correspond to physical organs, emotions, mental states. Disturbances, blockages, or “congestion” in the aura/energy field are believed to cause illness or emotional imbalance. pranicayurveda.com+2Wikipedia+2

  • By cleansing or removing “diseased” or “stagnant” energy, and by replenishing fresh life force from natural sources (sun, air, earth, etc.), health and improvement follow. pranicayurveda.com+2pranichealingmena.com+2

  • The energy is considered universal, not necessarily tied to any particular deity in many implementations — it is often described more like natural law or spiritual force rather than a personal god. Practices may borrow from or be influenced by Theosophy, yoga, chakra systems, esoteric and mystical older traditions. pranicwellnesscentre.com+3Pranic Healing IS+3Wikipedia+3

Who Created It?

  • The modern system was developed by GrandMaster Choa Kok Sui, born in the Philippines in 1952. He was trained as a chemical engineer, had interests in spirituality, esotericism, studied various mystical traditions (Theosophy, Rosicrucian, etc.), and in the mid-1980s systematized Pranic Healing and related practices like Arhatic Yoga. pranicwellnesscentre.com+2pranichealing.com.ph+2

  • His book The Ancient Science and Art of Pranic Healing (later editions under titles like Miracles Through Pranic Healing) was published around 1987. Since then, centers, courses, instructors, charitable work, etc., have spread globally. pranicwellnesscentre.com+2pranichealing.com.ph+2

Who Is Their God or Gods?

  • Pranic Healing does not always explicitly invoke a singular god or gods in the way many religions do; rather, it often speaks of life force, prana, universal energy, cosmic forces, etc. These are spiritual or metaphysical forces rather than named deities in many versions.

  • However, the spiritual framework is undeniably esoteric or mystical: borrowed from, or influenced by, older pagan, Eastern (yogic, chakra, etc.), Theosophical sources. Some practitioners may mix it with other spiritual/religious beliefs. The system’s spiritual aim (in cases like Arhatic Yoga) includes spiritual growth, enlightenment, connection with higher consciousness, etc. pranicwellnesscentre.com+2Pranic Healing Hawaii Inc.+2

What Is the Purpose and Why Is It Used?

Purposes of Pranic Healing include:

  • Physical healing of illnesses, speeding recovery from injuries or disease.

  • Emotional healing: stress, anxiety, depression, trauma.

  • Spiritual uplifting: balancing energies, finding inner peace, personal growth, enlightenment.

  • Preventative health: keeping the aura clean to prevent disease, maintaining vitality.

  • People often use it because conventional medicine or therapy may have failed, because it promises natural, non-invasive healing, or because they are seeking spiritual experiences or alternative wellness modalities.

Why Would Anyone Use This or Get Involved?

  • It's appealing: fast improvements, sense of self-empowerment, non-drug, non-invasive.

  • For people open to spiritual metaphors, holistic health, alternative medicine.

  • Cultural or family tradition; exposure through media, wellness movements.

  • Desire for relief for physical or emotional suffering.

  • Desire for spiritual growth or connection beyond mainstream religion.

Is It Divination or a Deviation?

From a Christian biblical standpoint, there are several questions:

  1. Definition of Divination in the Bible
Divination is typically the seeking of hidden knowledge or control through spiritual or supernatural means outside of God’s revealed Word. Includes mediums, sorcery, necromancy, spirit-communion, magic, etc. E.g. Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Leviticus 19:26; Galatians 5:19-21; Acts 8:9-24.

  2. Does Pranic Healing overlap with those?

    • Pranic Healing invokes unseen spiritual energy; works with chakras, energy fields, non-physical spiritual forces.

    • It attributes the cause of physical/emotional problems to spiritual energy imbalances.

    • It promises healing through manipulation of universal spiritual energy, rather than through prayer to God or medical means alone.

  3. Deviation vs. Divination
Some Christians would argue Pranic Healing is a deviation (i.e. straying from orthodox faith), because it introduces non-biblical beliefs about energy, chakras, cosmic forces. Some would say it is divination or even occultism if it involves seeking supernatural knowledge, or working with spiritual entities not explicitly God or angels in the biblical sense (or if it opens doors to demonic or spirit interference).

  4. Scriptural warnings

    • God explicitly forbids occult practices: “Let no one be found among you… a medium or spiritist, or one who practices divination or sorcery … for whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord.” (Deut. 18:10-12)

    • Believers are commanded to trust God’s power, not to manipulate spiritual forces outside His revealed will.

Thus, many Christians believe Pranic Healing crosses a line: though some aspects (like caring for one’s health, believing in God’s healing) are good, the belief in or reliance upon energy fields and spiritual forces outside biblical revelation can constitute a spiritual deviation or even dangerous ground.

Why It Is Seen as Against the Bible / God

  • It places trust in human mastery or manipulation of spiritual forces rather than dependence on God.

  • It may open doors to deception or spiritual influence not from God.

  • It promotes esoteric, non-biblical cosmologies (chakras, prana, energy bodies) which are not taught in Scripture.

  • It may blur the line between accepted Christian spiritual practices (prayer, faith, healing in God) and occult or mystical ones.

  • The risk that people stop relying on Christ, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit, and instead rely on techniques which claim power through unseen spiritual laws or energies.

Conclusion

In summary, Pranic Healing is a system of energy healing developed by Choa Kok Sui, based on beliefs in prana (life-force), auras, energy centers, etc. While many report physical and emotional benefits, Christian theology raises strong concerns: the practices draw on metaphysical systems not taught in the Bible, rely on spiritual forces outside of God, and may lead to divination or occult territory. For believers, a wise path is discernment, grounding in Scripture, seeking God’s guidance, and avoiding spiritual practices that are not clearly rooted in biblical revelation.

Poppets, Magic Dolls, and the Bible: A Christian Warning

Poppets, Magic Dolls, and the Bible: A Christian Warning

Poppets, Magic Dolls, and the Bible: A Christian Warning

In an age when many are exploring alternative spiritual practices, the concept of a poppet (a doll made to represent a person in magical ritual) has re-emerged in interest and controversy. But from a biblical and Christian perspective, using a poppet is not merely benign or symbolic — it is deeply problematic, bordering on divination and occultism. This article examines what a poppet is, where the beliefs come from, what gods or spiritual forces are involved, why people use them, and whether Christianity deems it a deviation.

What Is a Poppet?

A poppet (also spelled poppit, moppet, or mommet) is a doll or effigy made to look like a person, used in magical or folk practices so that actions done on the doll will transfer to the target person via “sympathetic magic.” Wikipedia+2Learn Religions+2 Poppets can be made from cloth, wax, root carvings, clay, or even food (like a potato). Patheos+2Learn Religions+2 Some practitioners embed hair, fingernails, or personal items to strengthen the link. Glasse Witch Cottage+2Learn Religions+2

They’re used for many purposes—healing, protection, prosperity, love workings, or also cursing or hexing, depending on the practitioner’s intent. badwitch.co.uk+3Learn Religions+3Patheos+3

What Were Their Beliefs / Origins?

The idea of using effigies and dolls for magic is ancient. In ancient Egypt, wax figures and ushabti figurines were used for spiritual rites. badwitch.co.uk+1 In ancient Greece, forms like kolossoi were used in ritual or binding spells. Patheos+1 Through medieval folk magic, pagan traditions, and later European witchcraft and hoodoo/folk conjure, the use of poppets was adopted and adapted. badwitch.co.uk+3Learn Religions+3Learn Religions+3 In American hoodoo practices especially (post–Civil War), poppet (or “doll baby”) magic became more common. Learn Religions+2kiwimojo.com+2

There is no single “author” or founder of poppet magic; rather, the practice arises from a convergence of folk belief systems, pagan magic, animism, and occult traditions. Modern occult or witchcraft authors have popularized or systematized poppet usage in recent decades.

Who Is Their God or Gods?

Poppet magic does not always invoke a single named deity; rather, it often taps into impersonal spiritual forces, spirits, energies, or ancestral forces. Some traditions will call on a pantheon of spirits, deities, or “loas” (in Vodou contexts) to empower the poppet. deliverancexorcisms.com+2HowStuffWorks+2 In hoodoo or rootwork, sometimes Christian elements (such as invoking God or using baptism) are syncretized, but the magic itself is believed to rely on spiritual forces beyond or behind the physical realm. kiwimojo.com+2Glasse Witch Cottage+2 Some practitioners view the poppet as a “spirit bridge” or vessel to allow spiritual energies to act. Patheos+3Wikipedia+3Learn Religions+3

In short: the spiritual power behind poppet magic is not the God of the Bible, but rather spiritual forces often considered occult or demonic in Christian theology.

Purpose & Why It’s Used

The primary purpose is manipulation or influence—to effect change in the person represented by the poppet without needing their physical presence. This can be for good (healing, protection, blessings) or evil (hexes, curses, control). Glasse Witch Cottage+4Patheos+4Learn Religions+4 The operative principle is sympathetic magic: that “like affects like,” so that operations on the effigy will “mirror” on the target. badwitch.co.uk+4Wikipedia+4Learn Religions+4

Why would someone get involved?

  • Desire for control over life circumstances (health, relationships, finances)

  • Fear or envy toward another, wanting to curse or influence them

  • Curiosity or experimentation with occult or esoteric spirituality

  • Belief that conventional prayer or medicine failed

  • Cultural or ancestral heritage where folk magic is normalized

Is It Divination or Something Else?

Yes — in Christian and biblical terms, poppet magic falls under witchcraft, sorcery, or divination — practices explicitly condemned in Scripture. The Bible consistently forbids attempts to manipulate spiritual forces through occult means. deliverancexorcisms.com+1

  • Deuteronomy 18:10–12 warns: “There shall not be found … a diviner, a conjurer, a witch, or one who casts spells … for all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord.”

  • Galatians 5:19–21 includes “witchcraft / sorcery” among the works of the flesh.

  • Acts 8:9–13 shows Simon the Magician, a practitioner of sorcery, being rebuked.

  • Revelation 21:8 lists sorcerers among those who will face condemnation.

Because poppet magic seeks hidden spiritual forces to achieve material ends, it precisely falls into the category of forbidden occult arts. It is not allowed or neutral in Christian spirituality. It is a deviation or departure from faith in God’s providence.

Why It’s Against the Bible / God

  1. It usurps God’s sovereignty — the practitioner seeks to exert control via supernatural means rather than trusting God.

  2. It opens doors to demonic influence — occult arts are considered steered by evil spirits or demons.

  3. It violates Scripture’s mandates — God prohibits sorcery, divination, and the manipulative occult.

  4. It relies on deceptive spiritual powers — not the Holy Spirit, but hidden forces.

  5. It distracts from Christ’s mediation — believers are called to approach God through Christ, not through spells or magical implements.

In short, using a poppet is a deviation from biblical faith — a flirtation with occult powers that Scripture warns against.

Ouija Boards: The Doorway to Demons and Why God Forbids It*

Ouija Boards: The Doorway to Demons and Why God Forbids It

Ouija Boards: The Doorway to Demons and Why God Forbids It

Introduction

The Ouija board—often marketed as a “game”—has been a tool of spiritual deception for more than a century. What many believe to be harmless fun or a way to “talk to ghosts” is, in reality, a direct invitation for demonic spirits to communicate with humans. Behind the playful exterior lies a practice God clearly forbids in His Word.

In this article, we’ll uncover the history, beliefs, and spiritual dangers behind the Ouija board, explaining why it’s a form of divination and why no Christian should ever touch it.

What Is the Ouija Board?

The Ouija board, also called a “spirit board” or “talking board,” is a flat board inscribed with the letters A–Z, numbers 0–9, and the words yes, no, and goodbye. Players lightly rest their fingers on a movable pointer called a “planchette.” When questions are asked, the planchette appears to move on its own, spelling out answers from supposed “spirits.”

What many fail to realize is that this movement is not random or subconscious—it is spiritual. The Ouija board serves as a portal, a focal point for communicating with unseen entities that are not the souls of the dead but deceptive demonic spirits.

What Were Their Beliefs?

Those who developed and used the Ouija board believed it was a means to contact the spirit world. In the late 19th century, during the rise of Spiritualism—a movement that taught the living could communicate with the dead—mediums and occultists sought tools to make this easier.

Spiritualists believed the dead lingered near the living and could offer wisdom or comfort. The Ouija board was designed to “simplify” these séances, giving even ordinary people a supposed way to hear from deceased loved ones or guides.

But Scripture makes it clear: the dead do not speak to the living. “There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination, or who calls up the dead” (Deuteronomy 18:10–11). These “voices” are not from God but from familiar spirits—demons imitating human souls to deceive.

Who Created the Idea?

The Ouija board was commercialized in 1890 by Elijah Bond, a businessman, and Charles Kennard, founder of the Kennard Novelty Company in Baltimore. The name “Ouija” reportedly came through the board itself when asked what it should be called—it spelled “O-U-I-J-A,” which users later discovered was an Egyptian word meaning “good luck.”

But this so-called “good luck” was anything but. The first patent even described the board as a device “to communicate with the unseen.” What began as a parlor game became a gateway to spiritual darkness. Later, William Fuld, who took over production, admitted he was “guided by the board” in his business decisions—a chilling statement showing that even its creator came under demonic influence.

Who Is Their God or gods?

In the occult world, there is no worship of the true God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. Practitioners of spirit communication are often deceived into serving false spirits who masquerade as angels or deceased loved ones. These are demons, fallen angels aligned with Satan (2 Corinthians 11:14).

When people use the Ouija board, they unknowingly submit their spiritual authority to these demonic beings. Every letter spelled out, every question asked, becomes an invitation. They are not speaking to God—they are entering a counterfeit form of revelation.

The Purpose and Use of the Ouija Board

The Ouija board’s purpose is to act as a communication bridge between humans and the spirit realm. It is used for:

  • Spirit communication – talking to “dead” relatives or unknown entities.

  • Gaining knowledge – asking questions about the future, love, or destiny.

  • Entertainment – many use it out of curiosity or as a “party game.”

Regardless of intent, the Ouija board is a form of divination, because it seeks information from spiritual forces outside of God’s will. The Bible strictly forbids this:

“Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.” — Leviticus 19:31

Even innocent curiosity can open a door to spiritual oppression, nightmares, voices, and tormenting spirits.

Why People Get Involved

People are drawn to the Ouija board for several reasons:

  • Curiosity about the unknown or fascination with the supernatural.

  • Grief—wanting to speak to deceased loved ones.

  • Entertainment—believing it’s just a game.

  • Peer pressure—friends encouraging participation.

  • Seeking answers that only God can give.

But every session comes with a spiritual cost. Once the door is open, demonic entities can attach themselves to individuals, homes, or objects. Many who used the board report cold presences, whispers, sleep paralysis, and uncontrollable fear afterward.

Is It Divination?

Yes. The Ouija board is divination—the seeking of hidden knowledge through spiritual means outside God’s direction. Scripture warns repeatedly against this practice.

  • “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.” — 1 Samuel 15:23

  • “And when they say to you, ‘Consult the mediums and spiritists,’ should not a people consult their God?” — Isaiah 8:19

The Ouija board replaces prayer with necromancy, faith with deception, and the Holy Spirit with lying spirits.

Why It Is Against the Bible

  1. It seeks knowledge apart from God — replacing divine wisdom with demonic deception.

  2. It involves contact with the dead, which is strictly forbidden.

  3. It opens the door to demonic possession and oppression.

  4. It denies the sufficiency of God’s Word, looking instead to false revelations.

  5. It offends God, who calls such acts detestable (Deuteronomy 18:10–12).

The only true communication with the spiritual realm should come through prayer to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit.

Closing

The Ouija board is not a toy—it’s a tool of the enemy. It disguises itself as harmless fun but draws unsuspecting souls into darkness. What starts as curiosity can end in bondage.

If you have ever used a Ouija board, repent, renounce the contact, and ask Jesus to cleanse and protect you. Break every agreement made through that act in prayer.

“Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7

Freedom and truth are found only in Jesus Christ, not in wooden boards or whispered voices from the shadows.

[Opening scene: dimly lit room, a Ouija board on a table]
Speaker (0–10s):
“Many believe the Ouija board is harmless fun—a game to talk to spirits. But behind the letters and planchette lies real spiritual danger.”

[Cut to eerie visuals of board movement]
Speaker (10–25s):
“The Ouija board began in the 1890s during the Spiritualist movement, designed to contact the dead. But the Bible says these spirits aren’t our loved ones—they’re demons deceiving the living.”

[Cut to Scripture visuals]
Speaker (25–40s):
“God forbids any form of spirit communication or divination in Deuteronomy 18. What seems like curiosity opens the door to oppression and fear. Only Jesus Christ gives true protection and peace.”

[Closing shot: cross glowing over the board fading away]
Speaker (40–45s):
