What Is “Talking to the Animals” in the Occult Sense?
Talking to the animals in the occult or New Age sense is not simply speaking to a pet, training an animal, or understanding normal animal behavior. In this practice, a person claims to communicate with animals telepathically, psychically, or spiritually. Some believe they can place a spirit within an animal, connect to the animal through mind power, or receive messages from the animal through inner voices, impressions, visions, or spiritual energy.
This is often presented as a gift, an intuitive skill, or a form of higher consciousness. But in reality, this kind of spirit-based communication is rooted in occultism, spiritism, and familiar spirits—not in the Holy Spirit.
Where Did It Come From?
This kind of occult animal communication has roots in ancient paganism, animism, shamanism, witchcraft, and spiritism. Many tribal and pagan belief systems taught that animals carried spiritual messages, housed spirits, or could be used as channels for supernatural guidance. In New Age practices today, these ideas continue through psychic animal communication, spirit animals, animal guides, and telepathic bonding.
The belief that a spirit can be put into an animal or that a person can communicate with it through supernatural means is not biblical. It is another counterfeit spiritual practice that seeks revelation apart from God.
Who Is the Founder?
There is no one single founder of this practice. It has existed in different forms throughout history in pagan religions, occult traditions, spiritism, and modern New Age teachings. Today it is often promoted through animal communicators, psychics, shamans, energy healers, and intuitive practitioners.
Though it may be packaged in modern language, the root is still the same: seeking supernatural knowledge or contact apart from God.
What Is It Used For?
People use occult animal communication for many reasons, including:
- trying to hear what an animal is “saying”
- receiving guidance through an animal
- connecting with spirit animals
- finding lost pets through psychic means
- healing animals through energy or spirit transfer
- trying to place or invoke a spirit into an animal
- seeking comfort, companionship, or mystical experiences
- receiving messages supposedly through the animal realm
Some people think this is harmless, loving, or spiritual. But when it crosses into psychic, telepathic, or spirit-based communication, it moves into forbidden territory.
Why Would Someone Get Involved in It?
A person may get involved because they:
- deeply love animals
- are grieving the loss of a pet
- want special power or unusual spiritual experiences
- are drawn to psychic abilities
- are involved in New Age, witchcraft, or shamanism
- want answers about an animal’s behavior or health
- are lonely, curious, or spiritually deceived
- think it is just intuition and not occultism
Satan often disguises occult practices as harmless, compassionate, healing, or spiritually advanced. But behind the fascination is often deception.
Why Is It Against God’s Word?
This practice is against God’s Word because it depends on psychic or spiritual revelation outside of the Lord. It opens the door to spiritism, divination, and familiar spirits.
God never told His people to seek wisdom through psychic communication with animals or to place spirits in animals for supernatural connection. He told us to seek Him.
Scriptures
Deuteronomy 18:10–12
There shall not be found among you anyone that uses divination, an observer of times, an enchanter, a witch, or a consulter with familiar spirits. These things are an abomination to the Lord.
Leviticus 19:31
Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them.
Isaiah 8:19
When they say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits... should not a people seek unto their God?
Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:20
The things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God.
The Bible is clear: believers are not to seek supernatural knowledge or power through occult means.
How Does It Hurt a Christian That Dabbles With It?
A Christian who gets involved in psychic or spirit-based communication with animals may open the door to:
- deception
- confusion
- spiritual oppression
- false guidance
- familiar spirits
- New Age bondage
- psychic impressions
- fear and torment
- spiritual heaviness
- counterfeit spiritual experiences
What starts as curiosity or affection for animals can become an open door to demonic influence if a person begins to seek spirit contact, telepathic revelation, or occult power through animals.
What Are Some of the Curses or Open Doors?
Possible spiritual consequences or open doors may include:
- familiar spirits
- divination
- deception
- confusion
- torment
- fear
- occult oppression
- spiritual defilement
- idolatry
- rebellion
- soul ties with occult practitioners
- deeper involvement in New Age or witchcraft practices
If a person is already involved in Reiki, spirit guides, psychic readings, shamanism, animal totems, or energy healing, this practice can strengthen those same demonic pathways.
Can Animals Be Used in the Occult?
Yes. Throughout occult history, animals have often been used as symbols, spirit carriers, sacrifices, omens, or companions in witchcraft and pagan practices. Some witches and occultists speak of familiars, which are believed to be spirit helpers connected to animals. While a regular pet is just a pet, when someone spiritually uses animals in occult ways, it becomes dangerous.
The issue is not loving animals. The issue is trying to access supernatural revelation or spiritual power through them.
What Should Someone Do If They Have Been Involved?
If you have been involved in occult animal communication, psychic pet readings, spirit animal practices, telepathic communication with animals, or trying to place a spirit within an animal, you should:
- Repent for participating in it
- Renounce every occult agreement
- Break ties with every psychic, medium, animal communicator, or shaman involved
- Remove books, tools, charms, or items related to the practice
- Ask God to close every open door
- Seek deliverance if you are experiencing torment, fear, oppression, or spiritual attacks
Prayer of Repentance and Renunciation
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I repent for all involvement in occult animal communication, telepathic communication with animals, spirit transfer into animals, divination, and all psychic practices. I renounce every agreement with familiar spirits, occult power, deception, and false revelation.
I ask You to forgive me and cleanse me through the blood of Jesus Christ. I break every open door, every curse, every soul tie, and every demonic assignment connected to this practice. I renounce every spirit guide, familiar spirit, animal spirit, psychic spirit, and lying spirit that came in through this involvement.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I command every unclean spirit associated with this practice to leave me now. I declare that Jesus Christ alone is my Lord, my guide, and my Deliverer. Amen.
Final Warning
Talking to animals through normal affection or training is not the issue. The danger comes when people enter into telepathy, spirit communication, psychic impressions, or occult animal practices. That is not from God. It is a counterfeit spiritual practice that opens the door to deception and bondage.
Jesus Christ is the only true source of wisdom, healing, and deliverance.
