Nine forbidden practices of the Occult

Nine Forbidden Practices of the Occult

Let’s look at the nine illegal practices of the occult forbidden by God.

What is the occult?

The word occult refers to what is hidden, concealed, or secret. The occult involves the spirit world – but the spirit world of darkness. The occult is particularly deceptive because the spirit world is very real. Practitioners are dealing with reality but dark, forbidden, and evil reality. Unfortunately, it can have 90% truth and 10% error and still be dangerous.

Many new age practices and occult practices misuse the Word of God for their benefit to pull innocent people into occult processes forbidden by God.

There are two kinds of spiritual reality. The first is God’s spiritual kingdom of truth and light, where Christ is King, the nature of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17), and where God’s holy angels dwell, worship, and serve Him.

The second is the world of Satan (a fallen angel); a world of deceit and hopelessness, void of God, where other fallen angels ( demons) who hate God work to advance this evil kingdom under their leader, Satan. Satan knows the Word of God and what better way to deceive than to twist the Word of God to deceive God’s sheep.

God forbids nine practices in His word. The occult, as He warns the Israelites to avoid and abhor it. Pronouncing it as towebah God, in His wisdom, lays out the Nine Forbidden Practices. They are:

1) Human Sacrifice We call that abortion today!
2) Divination The Heart of the Occult. Manipulation from demonic sources.
3) Astrology We either trust God or the Zodiac, but not both!
4) Enchanter Someone satanically endowed to produce seductive spells.
5) Witchcraft and Witches Include its modern, organized counterpart, Wicca.
6) Charmer One manipulates objects or beings via demonic power.
7) Consulter with Familiar Spirits One who gleans knowledge from demonic contact.
8) Wizards Practitioners of magical arts
9) Necromancers Those who claim to be in contact with the dead.

Furthermore, Romans 1:32 declares that those who entertain themselves with the images of evil, including the many brands of occult-based entertainment, are under the same judgment and curse as those who actually do the occult deeds! Wow!

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Back biters, haters of God, spiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them.

Doesn’t that sound exactly like our culture today; having pleasure in or being entertained by the things God condemns?

  • Stilling or emptying the mind, meditating, focusing on one thought or object to meet a peaceful state or subjective spiritual
    experience.

  • Visualizing the breath moving in unnatural ways.

  • Speaking with the dead, including prayers to saints or entering trance states to speak with dead people, pets, or Mother Mary (necromancy).

  • Channeling spirits and prophesying in another voice.

  • Channeling animal spirits: roaring like a lion, etc., through wrong types of meditation (centering prayer, contemplative prayer, listening prayer), being passive with your mind.

  • Soaking prayer involves a trance-like meditative or contemplative state in which the adherent is encouraged to empty their mind. This type of prayer seeks to experience God’s presence through mystical exercises which teeter dangerously on the edge of the esoteric. New Age practice that is adherent of Hinduism would take part in.

  • Passing electrical currents or waves of heat through laying on hands.

  • Waving flags to keep demons away or anointing with oil. To keep demons away is to repent and renounce any sin that opened the door to the enemy. Repentance closes the door.

  • Calling down a spirit to feel its ecstatic influence (soaking in the spirit, called samadhi in yoga).

  • Submit to a spirit so it can have its way with you (manifestations, spiritual drunkenness).

  • Calling down the spirit to work with it digging in the heart, etc. – calling down fire.

  • Seeking supernatural knowledge from dreams or visions with the wrong motive.

  • Waiting for prophetic words or supernatural insight into people’s illnesses or problems (taught in Alpha).

  • Casting spells or curses.

  • Yoga, Tai Chi, Reiki, and Acupuncture channel spiritual energies (as they imagine).

  • We are attempting to develop supernatural prophetic powers such as gifts of healing or prophetic gifts (divination).

  • We are developing spiritual eyes (called opening the third eye in yoga) to see angels and demons (clairvoyance).

  • Conjuring gold dust and ˜manna miracles (pure magic)

Occult worship includes endless repetition of verses in a song, so the meaning is lost, and one enters into a dulled state.

Not everything that manifests in the spirit is from God. Learn to discern good and evil. Knowing the Word and the Word will keep you on a narrow path.

Men and women find and commune with their spiritual Father in 3 ways, and this is what true, life-giving spirituality is all
about:

  1. Reading, learning, and studying the Father’s Word, the Bible.

  2. Praying to the Father with thoughtful, intelligent prayer.

  3. Doing the Father’s will, i.e., walking in obedience.

Any degree of occult involvement can produce problems of oppression, depression, despair, hopelessness, and many physical problems, sometimes bringing self-destruction and even death.

Demonic influence can produce obsession, phobias, bizarre behavior, violence, homicide, and sexual perversion. Worse, it can deceive a person into eternal darkness. The occult is a form of idolatry and a sin expressly forbidden by God (Deuteronomy 18:9-12).

Should Christians Do Yoga? The Spiritual Danger You Must Know

Should Christians Do Yoga? The Spiritual Danger You Must Know

🚨 Should Christians Participate in Yoga?

Short Answer: No.
Yoga is not just stretching. It is an ancient spiritual practice rooted in Hindu worship. Even when disguised as exercise, yoga carries spiritual implications that can open demonic doors—especially for Christians.

🔍 Where Did Yoga Originate?

Yoga originated in India, within Hindu culture over 5,000 years ago. It was never designed as mere physical exercise but as a spiritual path to unite the individual self (atman) with the universal consciousness (Brahman). This goal is achieved through postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation—all of which are acts of Hindu worship.

The founders of yoga were Hindu sages deeply immersed in pagan idolatry, aiming for enlightenment and union with false deities like Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. These are not the God of the Bible.

Isaiah 42:8“I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

⚠️ Why Is Yoga Spiritually Dangerous?

Christianity commands meditation on the Word of God, not emptying the mind. The Bible never teaches us to blank out or silence our thoughts to connect with a “universal soul.” That form of meditation—central to yoga—invites demonic access.

Psalm 119:15“I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.”

Psalm 104:34“My meditation of Him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.”

Bob Larson, a well-known deliverance minister, warns:

“Those who meditate in yoga should not be deceived into thinking they have communed with the Lord. They have left their minds open to an evil invasion by the spirit associated with the particular discipline employed.”

🧘‍♀️ But What If It’s Just for Exercise?

Even when stripped of Sanskrit names or chants, the poses themselves are acts of worship. For example, the “Sun Salutation” is a spiritual gesture of honoring the Hindu sun god Surya.

You cannot separate the physical from the spiritual in yoga. Just as partaking in pagan rituals opens spiritual doors, doing yoga—even unknowingly—violates spiritual boundaries.

1 Corinthians 10:20-21“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God… ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.”

👿 Demonic Manifestation Through Yoga

When Christians practice yoga or receive instruction from someone involved in it, they open demonic portals—consciously or not. Demons do not care whether you are aware. Ignorance does not protect you from legal spiritual rights.

Some manifestations after participating in yoga include:

  • Sudden anxiety or depression

  • New Age beliefs creeping in

  • Confusion during Bible reading

  • Headaches during prayer

  • Sleep paralysis or tormenting dreams

  • Difficulty worshiping Jesus

  • Emotional coldness or rebellion

Generational ties can also lead to bondage. If your ancestors were involved in yoga, Hinduism, or New Age practices, you could be experiencing inherited demonic oppression.

Exodus 20:5“…visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.”

🕊️ What Should Christians Do Instead?

Christians are called to worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24). Rather than yoga, embrace biblical meditation, prayer, and worship that invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:8“Whatsoever things are true… honest… just… pure… think on these things.”

If you have done yoga, knowingly or unknowingly, repent and renounce it in the name of Jesus Christ. Break every spiritual tie and close every door opened to the demonic realm.

✝️ Freedom Prayer:

“Father God, I repent for participating in or coming into agreement with yoga. I renounce every connection to Hindu gods, practices, and teachings. I break every demonic tie and command every unclean spirit associated with yoga to leave me now in the name of Jesus. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and renew my mind. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

🧘‍♂️Yoga’s Hidden Dangers

Yoga’s Occult Roots: How This Hindu Practice Invites Demonic Influence

Yoga’s Occult Roots: How This Hindu Practice Invites Demonic Influence

🧘‍♂️Yoga’s Hidden Dangers: A Christian Deliverance Perspective

Yoga is often viewed in the West as a harmless form of exercise, promoting health and relaxation. But the origins of yoga tell a very different story—one that opens believers to serious spiritual deception and demonic bondage. As Christians, we must be vigilant about practices that originate from pagan religions and lead us away from the truth of Jesus Christ.

🔍 Where Did Yoga Come From?

Yoga originated over 5,000 years ago in ancient India and was practiced by Hindu ascetics and mystics. It was never intended to be just a physical workout. Every pose, breath technique, and meditation practice was designed to awaken spiritual energy and unite the practitioner with Hindu deities.

The word “yoga” means “union” — specifically, union with the universal consciousness, not the God of the Bible. It is the gateway to achieving “samadhi,” the superconscious state that bypasses rational thought and merges one’s self with Atman, the Hindu concept of the Universal Soul.

Scripture warns of this:

"What fellowship has light with darkness?" – 2 Corinthians 6:14

⚠️ The Real Purpose: Awakening the Chakras and Kundalini

In yoga, the chakras are believed to be spiritual energy centers along the spine. Each yoga pose (asana) and breathing technique (pranayama) is meant to stimulate and awaken these chakras, especially the one at the base of the spine—where the kundalini serpent energy lies “coiled.”

Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning “coiled serpent.” It is the spiritual force yoga seeks to awaken and raise through the chakras to the crown of the head, opening the “third eye.”

This energy is directly tied to Hindu goddesses, such as Kali, the goddess of destruction. One cannot separate the physical discipline of yoga from its spiritual foundation, which is pantheistic and demonic.

“They sacrificed to demons, not to God, to gods they did not know...” – Deuteronomy 32:17

👿 What Happens Spiritually?

When you do yoga, even just for exercise, you are unknowingly participating in a religious ritual rooted in Hindu mysticism and occultism. You're aligning your body and mind with demonic forces by:

  • Opening your gates (chakras) to spiritual entities

  • Inviting the kundalini serpent spirit

  • Submitting your body to Hindu gods through posture and breath

  • Entering altered states of consciousness (samadhi) that disconnect you from biblical truth

The Bible tells us not to engage with other gods or spiritual forces:

“Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves any gods of cast metal: I am the Lord your God.” – Leviticus 19:4

🧠 Mystical Experiences = Demonic Encounters

Yoga masters, both Hindu and Buddhist, describe samadhi as a state of superconsciousness where the ego dissolves and one becomes “enlightened.” Christians may mistakenly think this is the peace of God, but it's a counterfeit.

“For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” – 2 Corinthians 11:14

Former practitioners have testified to seeing lights, hearing voices, and even levitating or experiencing physical convulsions. These are not signs of peace but manifestations of demons, masquerading as light and peace. The kundalini spirit can cause:

  • Sudden body jerks or spasms

  • Sleep paralysis

  • Night terrors

  • Mental confusion or obsession

  • Visions and hallucinations

🧬 Generational and Soul Ties

If your ancestors practiced yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism, martial arts, or meditation, demonic spirits may still be operating in your bloodline. These inherited soul ties must be broken through repentance and deliverance.

“I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.” – Exodus 20:5

🚫 Christians Practicing Yoga = Open Door

Many Christian churches now offer “Holy Yoga,” “Christian Yoga,” or “Stretching with Jesus.” But you cannot Christianize something founded on demonic worship.

“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.” – 1 Corinthians 10:21

Even using the yoga names for God, like “universal spirit” or “source,” is spiritually dangerous. These names refer to Hindu gods, not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

🙅‍♀️ Avoid Yoga, Choose the Narrow Path

Jesus never taught His disciples to stretch into poses to connect with God. He taught prayer, worship, fasting, and the study of God’s Word.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction...” – Matthew 7:13

You don’t need yoga to find peace. You need Jesus Christ, who is the Prince of Peace.

🛐 Deliverance Prayer from Yoga Involvement

If you’ve practiced yoga—even once—or if your ancestors did, you must renounce it.

Prayer of Repentance and Renunciation:

“Father God, I repent for participating in yoga and for any involvement of my ancestors. I renounce every yoga position, mantra, breathwork, and connection to chakras, kundalini, or Hindu gods. I break all soul ties and generational curses. I ask for the blood of Jesus to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I command every spirit attached to yoga and kundalini to leave me now in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
