Shiatsu Massage: Hidden Spiritual Origins and Why Christians Must Avoid It

Exposing the Occult Roots, False Healing, and Open Doors to Demonic Influence

Shiatsu is often marketed as a harmless, relaxing form of massage—but its foundations are deeply rooted in occult spiritual systems that contradict the Word of God. Many Christians unknowingly open demonic doors through “energy healing” practices like Shiatsu, Reiki, and acupressure because they do not understand the spiritual origins behind these modalities. The Bible warns, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).

This article exposes the true roots of Shiatsu, why it is spiritually dangerous, and how to protect yourself—even from occult practices like remote viewing. Deliverance is available through Jesus Christ for anyone who has been involved.

1. Where Shiatsu Came From—And Its Spiritual Source

Shiatsu (“finger pressure”) originated in Japan but is built upon Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its entire framework is based on the belief that invisible life-force energy called qi (chi) flows through meridians—the same channels used in acupuncture, energy healing, qigong, and Taoist magic.

Founders & Beliefs

Shiatsu was developed by Tokujiro Namikoshi (1905–2000) and later influenced heavily by Shizuto Masunaga, who blended it with Taoist philosophy, Zen Buddhism, and esoteric Eastern energy concepts.

Their “god” was not the God of the Bible. Their worldview was shaped by:

  • Taoism (yin-yang dualism, impersonal universal force)

  • Buddhism (emptiness, reincarnation, self-deification)

  • Qi energy belief (life-force identical to prana, kundalini, and New Age concepts)

These belief systems deny the Lordship of Jesus Christ—and therefore originate from false gods and familiar spirits (1 Corinthians 10:20).

2. Is Shiatsu Biblical? — Absolutely Not

Shiatsu relies on:

  • energy manipulation

  • meridian activation

  • divinatory diagnosis

  • Eastern spirituality

  • occult healing principles

  • altered-energy states

The Bible forbids all energy-based divination, declaring:
“There shall not be found among you… a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist” (Deuteronomy 18:10–12).

Shiatsu is a form of occult healing, making it spiritually contaminated. The belief that humans can manipulate unseen life-force energy is identical to witchcraft (gal. 5:20).

Scientific Acknowledgment

Even secular researchers admit that meridians and qi have no anatomical basis.

3. Why Do People Get Involved?

People seek Shiatsu because they want:

  • pain relief

  • emotional relaxation

  • stress reduction

  • holistic wellness

  • alternatives to medication

But Satan always packages deception in something that feels good (2 Corinthians 11:14). What begins as “therapy” becomes an open door to oppression.

Many who practice Shiatsu become spiritually sensitive, intuitive, or “energetically aware”—which are often early symptoms of kundalini manifestations or familiar spirits masquerading as healing abilities.

4. What If Someone Performed Shiatsu on You Without Consent?

Even if you didn’t choose it, exposure can still create spiritual vulnerability. Touch is a biblical laying on of hands, and when done by someone operating in occult energies, it can transfer demonic influence (Acts 8:18–23).

How to Protect Yourself From Remote Viewing

Remote viewing is a real occult psychic practice connected to:

  • astral projection

  • second sight

  • shamanism

  • military psi experiments

A person cannot be “accidentally” remote viewed, but you can be targeted by someone operating in psychic power. Scripture gives the answer:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)

Protection comes from:

  • covering yourself in the blood of Jesus

  • renouncing all occult touch

  • closing demonic portals

  • binding and blinding monitoring spirits

  • walking in authority (Luke 10:19)

5. Why Involvement Requires Deliverance

Shiatsu opens the door to:

  • familiar spirits

  • divination

  • kundalini manifestations

  • sleep disturbances

  • confusion

  • emotional instability

  • chronic pain

  • spiritual attack

Anyone who practiced it—or received it—should seek deliverance.

Jesus came “to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8), and He still delivers today.
