Part 2: Looking at Thought – How Brokenness Shapes the Body and Soul

Part 2: Looking at Thought – How Brokenness Shapes the Body and Soul

Part 2: Looking at Thought – How Brokenness Shapes the Body and Soul

Your Thoughts Are Not Just Thoughts—They Have Power

Every thought you think creates a reaction in your brain—both electrical and chemical. These reactions affect your emotions, nervous system, and even the physical health of your body.

Medical science confirms that for every thought, there's an electrochemical feedback loop released in your brain. These feedback loops generate electromagnetic waves, influencing how your brain communicates with the rest of your body.

At any given moment, your brain is processing about 400 billion actions—but you're only aware of around 2,000. Each one involves both a chemical and an electrical component.

Destructive Emotions Cause Bodily Damage

Research has shown that 87% of illnesses are linked to your thought life—and only 13% are due to diet, genetics, or environmental factors. Emotions such as depression are scientifically linked to heart disease and even cancer.

The most destructive emotions that cause long-term damage include:

  • Anger and rage

  • Resentment

  • Depression

  • Worry

  • Anxiety

  • Frustration

  • Fear

  • Excessive grief

  • Guilt

These emotions don’t just hurt mentally—they release toxic chemicals that tear down your body and immune system. Behind these emotions often lies a broken heart.

A Broken Heart Leaks Out the Promises of God

As Jesus said in Luke 4:18, He came "to heal the brokenhearted." Why? Because a broken heart cannot hold onto the promises of God.

Imagine trying to hold water in a bucket full of holes. That’s what happens when you quote Scripture over your life while carrying unhealed wounds from betrayal, rejection, fear, or guilt. The truths of God’s Word leak right out.

You might have been told:
“Just stand on the promises,”
“Speak the Word,” or
“Give to receive your healing.”

While these are biblically sound in their own context, they won't work if your heart is wounded. A shattered heart can’t fully trust or believe God's Word due to the spiritual and emotional breaches that are still bleeding internally.

Betrayal and Emotional Devastation Bring Physical Disease

Betrayal is like a dagger to the soul—it robs you of breath, peace, and security. Especially when it comes from someone you trusted deeply.

When a heart breaks, it often sets people on the performance treadmill—constantly striving for love, approval, or acceptance. Are you trying to earn value from others? Or have you shut down emotionally, living in silent torment?

Both of these responses open doors to disease. I know—because I lived it.

My Testimony: How I Was Healed from a Broken Heart

After suffering for years, I was healed by Jesus. Here’s just part of what I experienced before healing:

  • Heart Disease (Mitral Valve Prolapse)

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • Asthma

  • Blood Disorders

  • Arthritis & Back Pain

  • Food and Environmental Allergies

  • Low Thyroid

  • Depression

  • Panic Attacks

  • ADHD, DID (Multiple Personality)

  • Insomnia, Anxiety, Restless Leg

  • Chronic Bronchitis

  • Epilepsy

  • Learning Disabilities

  • Fear and Emotional Breakdown

But Jesus healed me—mind, body, and soul.

What Does the Bible Say About Brokenness?

The Hebrew word for “broken” means:

“Wrecked, shattered, crippled, or maimed.”

The word “wounded” in Hebrew can mean:

“To defile oneself, to violate, to desecrate.”

That’s what trauma does—it violates your identity, distorts your value, and creates strongholds in your mind. These strongholds act as spiritual filters—you view life through pain, guilt, fear, or rejection, rather than truth.

Why Promises Don’t Manifest with a Broken Heart

You’ve probably been told to “trust the Lord with all your heart” (Proverbs 3:5). But what if your heart is too broken to trust?

Faith preachers say to “grab your promise and wait for your harvest.” But if your heart is full of wounds, faith cannot grow properly. Your spiritual soil is cracked. That’s why the Word doesn’t take root.

“Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” – Mark 11:22-23

You want to believe God loves you. But the devil, the father of lies, whispers,

“God has rejected you. You’re unworthy.”
“It won’t happen for you.”

With a broken heart, those lies feel real—and you stop standing in faith.

The Stronghold of Guilt and Shame

Hebrews 10:17 says:

“And their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

But someone with a broken heart walks in ongoing guilt and shame, even after being told they are forgiven. Why? Because a stronghold is present.

A stronghold is a spiritual structure in the mind, ruled by a demonic strongman. It shapes your behavior, your thinking, and your identity.

If fear is your stronghold, everything will feel threatening. If shame is your stronghold, everything will feel condemning. The strongman sounds like your own voice but is the enemy disguised.

Deliverance and Healing Starts with the Soul

Most believers are fellowshipping with demons unknowingly, by agreeing with lies like:

  • “I’m not good enough.”

  • “God won’t forgive me.”

  • “Healing is for others, not for me.”

These lies become spiritual bonds that block your freedom. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions—not more self-effort, more striving, or performance-based religion.

It’s time to break the strongholds, heal the broken places, and cast out the tormentors through Jesus Christ, the only One who can restore what life tried to destroy.
