⚠️ Why a Christian Should Not Do Fire Tunnels

⚠️ Why a Christian Should Not Do Fire Tunnels

🔥 What is a Fire Tunnel?

  • A line (or “tunnel”) of people forms, usually with church members, leaders, or “anointed” individuals standing opposite each other.

  • A person walks down the middle while the people on both sides lay hands, pray, or “release fire” over them.

  • The goal is said to be impartation of spiritual gifts, fresh fire, anointing, or supernatural empowerment.

  • Participants often report manifestations such as shaking, laughing, falling, or feeling “heat” or “power.”

  1. Unbiblical Impartation Practices

    • Nowhere in Scripture do we see a “fire tunnel.” The apostles did lay hands for prayer and commissioning (Acts 6:6, 1 Timothy 4:14), but there is no mass-transfer ritual for fire or anointing.

    • True anointing comes from God through the Holy Spirit (1 John 2:27), not through a ritual.

  2. Occult Parallels

    • Fire tunnels strongly resemble shamanic initiation rituals, where groups channel energy into a participant.

    • The language of “imparting fire” mirrors kundalini awakening practices in Hinduism, where energy is passed through touch and produces physical manifestations.

  3. False Spirit Manifestations

    • Many people report bizarre manifestations: uncontrollable laughter, animal sounds, violent shaking, trance states.

    • These are not fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) but align more with kundalini and demonic manifestations.

  4. Danger of Transference of Spirits

    • When hands are laid on someone outside God’s direction, there is the risk of demonic transfer (1 Timothy 5:22 – “Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands”).

    • In a fire tunnel, you don’t know the spiritual state of the people “imparting fire”—this can expose you to unclean spirits.

  5. Focus on Experience over Scripture

    • Fire tunnels promote seeking manifestations rather than Christ Himself.

    • The Bible warns against chasing signs and wonders instead of the truth of God’s Word (Matthew 12:39, 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10).

📖 Biblical Truth

  • The fire of God in Scripture is for purification and judgment, not for ecstatic experiences (Malachi 3:2–3; Hebrews 12:29).

  • The Holy Spirit is given at salvation (Ephesians 1:13–14), and empowerment for ministry comes through prayer, obedience, and God’s sovereign will—not rituals.

In summary:

Fire tunnels are an unbiblical, spiritually dangerous practice that mimic occult initiation rites and open the door to false spirits and demonic impartations. Christians should avoid them and instead pursue the true fire of God—holiness, purity, and the empowering of the Holy Spirit through prayer and obedience.

Would you like me to draft a teaching article exposing fire tunnels with scripture references and warnings, so you can use it for your deliverance ministry audience?

Observer of Times and Soothsayers: The Ancient Practice of Divination Condemned by God

Observer of Times and Soothsayers: The Ancient Practice of Divination Condemned by God
Observer of Times and Soothsayers: The Ancient Practice of Divination Condemned by God

What Is an Observer of Times?

In the Bible, the term observer of times refers to someone who attempts to read signs in the natural world—clouds, stars, or seasonal changes—to predict the future. In today’s language, this person would be called a soothsayer or astrologer.

The practice was common in ancient pagan cultures. People believed that celestial bodies and weather patterns revealed hidden truths or upcoming events. By studying these signs, observers of times claimed they could foretell wars, harvests, personal destinies, or even the rise and fall of kings.

But while the practice may have looked like wisdom, God declared it to be abomination. Deuteronomy 18:10–12 says clearly: “There shall not be found among you… an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch… For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord.”

Cultural Origins of Soothsaying

The art of soothsaying stretches back to Babylon, Egypt, and Mesopotamia. Priests and astrologers served in royal courts, reading the stars and weather to guide rulers. They believed the gods communicated through the heavens, and by interpreting signs, they could control their destiny.

Babylonian astrology became the foundation for Greek and Roman practices. Even today, modern astrologyhoroscopes, zodiac readings, and planetary alignments—flows from the same ancient system.

What Did They Believe?

Observers of times believed:

  • The clouds revealed messages from the gods.

  • The stars and planets controlled human fate.

  • The changing seasons marked moments of supernatural power.

  • By practicing divination, they could protect themselves, gain wealth, or predict disasters.

In short, they trusted in creation rather than the Creator, placing their hope in signs instead of the living God.

Their Gods and Spirits

Soothsayers often called on deities like Shamash (the Sun god), Sin (the Moon god), or Marduk (a Babylonian star god). Later cultures replaced these with Zeus, Apollo, or other planetary gods. Yet behind these “gods” were demonic spirits, masquerading as celestial rulers.

The Bible warns that these are not neutral forces. Psalm 96:5 says: “For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.”

Purpose of the Practice

The goal of observing times was always divination—seeking secret knowledge apart from God. Whether predicting crop success, guiding kings, or forecasting personal fortune, it was about control. People wanted to bypass God’s authority and gain forbidden knowledge through occult means.

Why Do People Get Involved?

Even today, people turn to astrology, horoscopes, and sky omens for the same reasons:

  • Curiosity about the future

  • Fear of the unknown

  • Desire for guidance without submission to God

  • Cultural tradition and pressure

  • A sense of control in uncertain times

Satan deceives by making these practices look wise or harmless. Yet each time a person looks to the stars or seasons for divine guidance, they step into the realm of demonic divination.

Is It Divination?

Yes. Observing times is a form of divination. It attempts to access spiritual knowledge apart from God’s Spirit. Isaiah 47:13 rebukes Babylon, saying: “Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save you from these things that shall come upon you.” Their wisdom failed then—and it still fails today.

The Spiritual Dangers

Those who dabble in soothsaying or astrology risk:

  • Opening doors to demonic influence

  • Falling into fear, bondage, or superstition

  • Experiencing confusion, misdirection, or curses

  • Becoming separated from God’s truth

What looks like harmless star-gazing or cloud-reading is, in fact, an occult practice. Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 24:24 that false signs would deceive even the elect if possible.

God’s Alternative

Instead of looking to stars or clouds, God calls us to look to Him. Jeremiah 10:2 says: “Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven.”

Only God knows the future, and He reveals His truth through His Word and His Spirit. Christians are not called to guess the future but to trust the One who holds it.

Closing Call

Observers of times and soothsayers may sound like ancient history, but the same practices live on in horoscopes, astrology apps, zodiac readings, and sky omens. Do not be deceived. These are forms of divination that invite spiritual oppression.

Renounce the practice, repent, and turn to Jesus Christ, who alone gives wisdom, peace, and freedom.

Obeah, Occult Games, and the Hidden Dangers of Folk Witchcraft

Obeah, Occult Games, and the Hidden Dangers of Folk Witchcraft

Obeah, Occult Games, and the Hidden Dangers of Folk Witchcraft

What Is Obeah/Obi?

Obeah, also called Obi, is a term used in the West Indies for a system of folk magic, witchcraft, and sorcery. It blends African spiritual practices, animism, and occult rituals brought by enslaved peoples into the Caribbean. While some see Obeah as cultural “healing” or ancestral wisdom, in reality, it is a form of witchcraft rooted in demonic power.

Obeah is often used to curse enemies, heal illnesses, protect homes, or attract love and fortune. Practitioners may use potions, charms, incantations, and sacrifices. But beneath the surface is one dangerous truth: Obeah does not call on the God of the Bible—it calls on spirits that disguise themselves as helpers but enslave those who participate.

Cultural Origins

Obeah originated from West African traditions, especially from the Ashanti and Igbo peoples, then mixed with colonial and indigenous practices in Jamaica, Trinidad, and other Caribbean islands. It was used as a form of resistance, secret communication, and control during slavery. Because colonial authorities feared its power, Obeah was outlawed for centuries.

But banning the practice never removed its spiritual danger. What was passed down as folk religion was, in reality, sorcery, condemned by Scripture: “There shall not be found among you… a witch, or a charmer, or consulter with familiar spirits” (Deuteronomy 18:10–11).

Beliefs Behind Obeah

At its core, Obeah teaches that humans can manipulate unseen forces to gain power, protection, or revenge. Practitioners often invoke ancestors, nature spirits, or planetary deities. Some even attempt to blend Obeah with Christianity, using psalms or Bible verses in rituals, but this is syncretism—mixing truth with lies.

The spirits behind Obeah are not ancestral guides or benevolent beings. They are demonic powers exploiting human suffering and curiosity.

Occult Games: Hidden Satanic Rituals

Alongside practices like Obeah are occult games—activities that appear innocent but are gateways into witchcraft. These include Ouija boards, “Bloody Mary” mirror summoning, fortune-telling card games, and even certain childhood chants.

While marketed as harmless fun, these games are satanic rituals in disguise. The purpose is always the same: to open a door for demonic spirits. Once a person participates, even in ignorance, they establish a spiritual connection with forces of darkness.

Ephesians 4:27 warns, “Neither give place to the devil.” Occult games do exactly that—handing over legal ground for demons to operate.

Why Do People Get Involved?

People turn to Obeah and occult games for various reasons:

  • Curiosity about the supernatural

  • Desire for power or revenge

  • Cultural tradition

  • Seeking healing or protection outside of God

  • Peer pressure or “fun” in games

Satan deceives by making these practices look harmless, cultural, or even empowering. But the result is always spiritual bondage—fear, curses, and oppression.

Is It Divination?

Yes. Obeah and occult games are forms of divination, sorcery, and necromancy. They attempt to gain knowledge, power, or control through forbidden spiritual means. God’s Word is clear: “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft” (1 Samuel 15:23).

The Spiritual Dangers

Engaging in Obeah or occult games opens gates for:

  • Curses and generational bondage

  • Nightmares and spiritual torment

  • Illnesses and misfortune

  • Addiction to deeper occult practices

  • Separation from God’s presence

What may start as “fun” or cultural pride becomes spiritual chains. Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10).

Freedom Through Christ

The good news is that no power of Obeah, witchcraft, or occult game is stronger than the power of Jesus Christ. Through repentance, renunciation, and deliverance prayer, people can be set free.

1 Samuel 15:23 shows how new believers renounced their sorcery: “Many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.” Today, the same must happen—burn charms, destroy occult games, and call on Jesus for freedom.

Final Warning

Obeah and occult games are not harmless traditions. They are satanic traps. If you have participated, repent today, renounce the spirits you called upon, and ask Jesus Christ to cover you with His blood. Only in Him is there lasting protection and peace.

Planetary Spirits: Ancient Deception in Modern Disguise

Planetary Spirits: Ancient Deception in Modern Disguise

What Are Planetary Spirits?

Throughout history, cultures have worshiped and invoked what they called planetary spirits—supernatural beings believed to govern the movements of the seven classical planets: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. These entities were honored in Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman traditions, and later absorbed into medieval occultism, astrology, and even Renaissance magic.

Cultural Origins

The roots of planetary spirit worship go back to Babylon, where star and planetary deities were central to religion. The Babylonians believed the stars and planets were physical manifestations of gods who controlled human destiny. Egypt followed with Ra (the Sun god), Thoth (linked with Mercury), and Isis (connected to the Moon). The Greeks and Romans continued the tradition, giving the planets names of their gods—Mars, Jupiter, Venus, etc.—a practice that persists in modern astronomy.

Beliefs About Planetary Spirits

Ancient cultures believed each planet radiated divine influence that shaped human character, fate, and even nations. They taught that by invoking or appeasing planetary spirits, people could manipulate luck, love, health, or power. Astrology grew from this worldview, positioning planetary spirits as rulers of zodiac signs and earthly affairs. This was not just superstition—it was occult practice, drawing on demonic powers disguised as heavenly wisdom.

Who Were Their Gods?

The gods of planetary spirits were not benign forces of the universe but false gods and demons masquerading as celestial rulers.

  • Sun – Worshiped as Shamash, Ra, Apollo.

  • Moon – Worshiped as Sin, Isis, Diana.

  • Mars – Associated with Nergal, Ares.

  • Jupiter – Associated with Marduk, Zeus.

  • Venus – Worshiped as Ishtar, Aphrodite.

  • Saturn – Linked to Ninurta, Cronus, and later occult Saturnian worship.
These gods demanded worship through ritual sacrifices, astrology, and occult devotion. The Bible condemns this directly: “And lest you lift up your eyes unto heaven, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, should be driven to worship them” (Deuteronomy 4:19).

Purpose of Planetary Spirit Practices

The purpose of these practices was always about control and divination—seeking hidden knowledge and manipulating events outside of God’s authority. Astrologers, magicians, and occult priests claimed planetary spirits revealed destiny, guided kings, or could be invoked for personal gain. In reality, these practices opened spiritual gates to demons.

Why Do People Get Involved?

People turn to planetary spirits for the same reason they seek horoscopes, tarot cards, or crystals today—desire for guidance, power, or comfort apart from God. The deception is appealing: a sense of cosmic order, spiritual enlightenment, or personalized destiny. Yet the Bible warns: “There shall not be found among you anyone that uses divination, or an observer of times” (Deuteronomy 18:10). Planetary spirit worship is nothing less than divination—and it binds people to demonic oppression.

Is It Divination?

Yes. Planetary spirit practices fall under the category of divination and sorcery, condemned by God. Astrology, planetary alignments, and magical invocations are attempts to bypass God’s sovereignty and gain spiritual power through demonic influence.

The Danger for Christians

Even today, planetary spirits influence culture through astrology apps, zodiac horoscopes, “Saturn returns,” and occult spirituality disguised as self-help. Many Christians unknowingly open doors to oppression when they dabble in astrology or planetary magic. What begins as curiosity often spirals into spiritual bondage.

Biblical Response

God alone rules the heavens. “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name” (Psalm 147:4). Planetary spirits are not divine rulers but fallen entities masquerading as gods. The only safe response is repentance, renunciation, and deliverance in Jesus Christ.

Closing Call

Do not be deceived by planetary spirits, astrology, or any form of cosmic divination. These are ancient demonic forces repackaged for modern times. Seek God’s truth, not the counterfeit wisdom of spirits that masquerade as light.

Humanism - A Biblical Examination of a Man-Centered Philosophy

 Humanism - A Biblical Examination of a Man-Centered Philosophy

A Biblical Examination of a Man-Centered Philosophy

Introduction

Humanism is not a new idea. It is a worldview deeply rooted in man’s attempt to define morality, truth, and purpose without God. While it often presents itself as a progressive, intellectual, and ethical system, humanism is fundamentally incompatible with biblical Christianity. At its core, humanism elevates man as the measure of all things, rejecting divine authority and replacing it with human reasoning. To understand why Christians must be discerning about this philosophy, it is important to examine its origins, beliefs, practices, and dangers.

What Culture Did It Come Out Of?

Humanism emerged during the Renaissance in Europe (14th–17th centuries) as a movement that sought to revive classical Greek and Roman thought. The Renaissance humanists focused on art, literature, and philosophy, celebrating human achievement and reason. While some early humanists still identified as Christians, they began to downplay Scripture’s authority, preferring reason and culture as guiding lights.

Later, secular humanism developed in the 19th and 20th centuries, fully rejecting God, miracles, and divine revelation. This worldview became the foundation for many modern philosophies, educational systems, and political movements, especially in the West.

What Were Their Beliefs?

At its heart, humanism teaches that:

  • Man is the center of existence – human beings, not God, define morality and truth.

  • Reason and science are supreme – only what can be tested, proven, or rationally explained is considered valid.

  • Religion is unnecessary – divine revelation is replaced with human progress, philosophy, and culture.

  • Ethics are relative – morality changes based on cultural, societal, or personal standards.

Humanists often promote ideals such as equality, freedom, and progress, but they deny that these values have roots in God’s Word. Instead, they believe humanity itself is the source of dignity and rights.

Who Is Their God or Gods?

In humanism, there is no personal God. The "god" of humanism is man himself—human intellect, creativity, and progress are elevated as the ultimate authority. In essence, it is the deification of humanity, echoing the same lie Satan told Eve in the Garden of Eden: “You shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5).

By removing God from the equation, humanism makes man the creator of morality, truth, and destiny. This worldview directly opposes Christianity, which teaches that God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Judge of all things.

What Is the Purpose of the Modality and Why Is It Used?

The purpose of humanism is to create a worldview that centers on man rather than God. It is used to:

  • Justify independence from divine authority.

  • Promote education and culture without biblical foundations.

  • Establish a moral system based on human reasoning instead of Scripture.

  • Provide meaning and purpose in life apart from eternal truth.

Humanism appeals to people because it flatters human pride. It tells us we are wise enough, strong enough, and good enough to guide our own lives without God. Yet Scripture warns: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Psalm 14:1).

Why Would Anyone Use This or Get Involved?

People are drawn to humanism because it offers freedom without accountability. It denies sin, judgment, and the need for a Savior. For those who do not want to repent and submit to God’s authority, humanism provides an appealing alternative that appears rational, intellectual, and liberating.

However, this so-called freedom leads only to bondage. Without God, man is left to his own corrupt nature, which brings moral decline, confusion, and despair. Romans 1:21-22 warns that those who reject God become “futile in their thinking” and though they claim to be wise, they become fools.

Is It Divination?

Humanism is not divination in the traditional occultic sense, but it is still rebellion against God. Divination seeks hidden knowledge apart from God, while humanism elevates human reason as supreme authority. Both lead people away from God’s truth and into deception. Ultimately, humanism aligns with the same satanic deception as witchcraft and idolatry: the exaltation of man and the rejection of God’s lordship.

Conclusion

Humanism may appear intellectual and enlightened, but it is a direct rejection of the biblical model of life and salvation. By placing man at the center of the universe, it denies the sovereignty of God and the saving work of Jesus Christ. Christians must reject humanism and instead hold fast to the truth that real wisdom, morality, and hope come only from the Lord.

As Colossians 2:8 warns: “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”

Only in Christ do we find truth, freedom, and eternal life.

Phrenology and Physiognomy: False Sciences and Spiritual Deception

🧠 Phrenology and Physiognomy: False Sciences and Spiritual Deception

Phrenology and Physiognomy: False Sciences and Spiritual Deception

Introduction

In the 18th and 19th centuries, two so-called sciences—phrenology and physiognomy—claimed to unlock the secrets of a person’s character, intelligence, and morality by studying the shape of their skull or face. While these practices are now dismissed as pseudoscience, they remain significant because they reveal humanity’s ongoing attempt to seek identity, destiny, and worth apart from God. Even today, remnants of these ideas influence psychology, hiring practices, and New Age personality tests. Christians must recognize that these systems, while appearing scientific, often act as counterfeit forms of divination and open doors to pride, judgment, and spiritual deception.

What Is Phrenology?

Phrenology was developed by Franz Joseph Gall (1758–1828), who believed that the shape and bumps of the skull corresponded to mental faculties and personality traits. For example:

  • A bump on one area might be interpreted as “generosity.”

  • A valley in another might indicate “criminal tendencies.”

Phrenologists claimed they could “read” a person’s character simply by examining their head.

What Is Physiognomy?

Closely related is physiognomy, which dates back to ancient Greece. The word means “nature interpreter.” Practitioners judged a person’s character or moral worth based on facial features such as the nose, chin, cheekbones, or eyes. A strong jawline might be interpreted as courage, while a sloping forehead was said to reveal low intelligence.

Cultural Origins and Beliefs

  • Physiognomy came out of ancient Greek culture, with philosophers like Aristotle making references to it. It spread through Europe in the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

  • Phrenology emerged in Enlightenment-era Europe as people sought “scientific” ways to understand human nature apart from God.

  • Neither system honored the God of the Bible. Instead, they elevated human reason and natural observation as ultimate truth.

Both were ultimately rooted in humanism—the belief that humanity can explain life, morality, and destiny without God’s revelation.

The Purpose of Phrenology and Physiognomy

These practices were used to:

  • Judge personality traits for employment, relationships, and even criminal sentencing.

  • Predict a person’s “destiny” or abilities.

  • Justify racial discrimination and class prejudice.

  • Offer an alternative explanation for human behavior apart from sin and redemption.

In short, they were attempts to control, categorize, and judge others through external appearances.

Why Did People Get Involved?

Phrenology and physiognomy became popular because:

  • They gave people a sense of power and knowledge over others.

  • They appeared scientific, using measurements and charts.

  • They seemed to offer certainty in understanding human behavior.

  • They flattered people’s pride—those deemed “good” by the system felt superior to others.

But like horoscopes, fortune-telling, or palm reading, these systems are simply human attempts to replace God’s wisdom with manmade shortcuts.

Is It Divination?

While phrenology and physiognomy claim to be “scientific,” they function much like divination. Instead of seeking God for discernment about a person’s character, these methods rely on external signs (skull bumps, facial features) to reveal supposed hidden truths. This mimics occult practices like palmistry or astrology.

Scripture warns against judging by outward appearance. 1 Samuel 16:7 says:

“For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Phrenology and physiognomy deny this biblical truth by claiming that appearance determines character.

Spiritual Consequences

Engaging in such systems can:

  • Promote pride, prejudice, and racism.

  • Distract from God’s truth about identity and worth in Christ.

  • Encourage reliance on false discernment tools rather than the Holy Spirit.

  • Dehumanize people by reducing them to features instead of seeing them as made in God’s image.

The Christian Response

Christians should reject phrenology, physiognomy, and similar practices because they contradict the gospel. Our worth and character are not determined by outward features or skull shapes but by our relationship with Christ.

  • Identity comes from God: We are created in His image (Genesis 1:27).

  • Transformation comes through Christ: Character is shaped by the Holy Spirit, not bone structure (2 Corinthians 5:17).

  • Judgment belongs to God: Only He sees the heart and knows the truth of a person.

Conclusion

Phrenology and physiognomy may have been cloaked in the language of science, but at their core they were false systems of judgment and divination. By elevating outward appearance over God’s Word, they misled generations and justified prejudice. Today, Christians must guard against modern versions of these systems that promise insight apart from God.

True wisdom and discernment come only from the Lord, who looks at the heart and redeems us through Christ.
