New Age Astrology

Bible verses warning about Astrology

Do You base your life on horoscopes?

What does the bible say about Astrology? New Age Astrology is a sin! The Bible, God's Word, has much to say about the spiritual influences upon our lives.

See bible verses about astrology being a sin

Below are bible verses about astrology being a sin. And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon, and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven (Deuteronomy 4:19).

... and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them, the sun, moon, or the stars of the sky (Deuteronomy 17:3).

All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Indeed, they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. There are no coals to warm anyone or fire to sit by. That is all they can do for you—these you have labored with and trafficked with since childhood. Each goes on in his error; no one can save you (Isaiah 47:13-15).

Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel. This is what the LORD says: "Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them" (Jeremiah 10:1-2).

In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his kingdom (Daniel 1:20).

What is Astrology

Astrology is the occult pseudos-science that teaches that there is an influence of the heavenly bodies (sun, Moon, planets, stars, upon human affairs. It is a form of divination, forbidden in the Scriptures, based upon the assumption that the positions of the sun, moon, stars, and planets affect the fortunes of individuals and their daily circumstances of life, as well as the events of history.

Astrology is an ancient practice that originated in Babylonia. The priests who worshipped the heavenly bodies as emblematic of their gods observed how the sun, moon, and the five visible planets passed through 12 groups of stars (constellations).

Noting the apparent relationship between their movements and such things as the yearly seasons, the rains, plant and crop growth, and the storms, they also associated the heavenly bodies with the affairs of daily life and the events of history. As a result, a complex system of astronomical calculations was intended to show the influence of the stars and planets upon man and his environment.

What Does the Bible Say About Astrology

But what does the Bible really say about astrology? Genesis 1:14 doesn't require any scholarly approach to the Bible through linguistics or any other means; it only requires a little common sense. The verse obviously refers to the practical use of the sun and moon as signs of night and day and of seasons, not of the mystical use to ascertain one's fortune and future. Astrology was often closely connected to the pagan gods, and the fact that God forbade such use makes this quite clear.

Purpose of stars

Psalm 19: 1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God; The skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; Night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, Their words to the ends of the world.

And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." (Gen 1:14-15).

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry hosts one by one and calls them each by name. Not one of them is missing because of his great power and mighty strength. (Isaiah 40:26).

Astrology is of the Devil and is practiced by occultists in secret societies, as well as by the general public. Astrology is not the same as astronomy, it is simply the study of the universe. Astrology is worshipping the stars, i.e., seeking spiritual wisdom and guidance from the universe as if it were a life's force (which it is not). God is a Person, Who is the only Being Whom we ought to worship (Exodus 20:1-2; Isaiah 42:8). Astrology is idolatry!

Astrology has wholly destroyed some people's lives! Many people have invested their savings into a particular financial investment based on what some astrologers said. I'm not kidding! I heard a TV nut advising people to invest their money based on the alignment of the planets and constellations.

It is shocking to know how many people base their entire lives upon what is written in the daily horoscope column of a newspaper. It is never right to do wrong to get a chance to do right. King Saul sought guidance from the witch of Endor in the Old Testament, and God punished him for it.

The Islamic Muslims pray five times daily, corresponding with the moon's cycles. This is why the “moon” is cherished and worshipped by Muslims, and it is often symbolized in their religion by the crescent moon. It is the symbol of the moon god that Islam founded, Muhammad, worshipped back in 800 A.D.. Islam is a false religion rooted in astrology.
