Aromatherapy - from an advertisement for aromatherapy: "...aromatherapists, practitioners of alternative medicine, and anyone wishing to use aromatherapy to maintain a peaceful equilibrium or bring about positive change, this book concentrates on the mood-changing effects of natural oils. "A good addition to alternative medicine collections."--

"Aromatherapy may be traced back over centuries. In ancient Egypt, herbal oils were used to embalm the dead. It was the Arab physician Avicenna who developed the distillation method we use today. It was then brought to Europe by the Knights Templar..."

"Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for therapeutic 8 effects. For thousands of years, essential oils have been revered for their fragrance and restorative effects on the body, mind 9, and spirit."

"Ancient Healing Art creates balanced blends to promote 11:

calmness
emotional and hormonal balance
stress relief
rejuvenation, and more.

Many Christians are taking and applying the oils used in aromatherapy as a form of Biblical anointing. They use it when someone is ill, declaring that the Bible condones this. Yes, we read of many instances where oils and perfumes were used. There's nothing wrong with them per se. Many women prepare particular oils and anoint the sick in direct Biblical disobedience. The anointing that was to be done was only for illness under certain circumstances. A cure is never guaranteed, based on God's will for a person's life, and it was not the oil that had the healing effect. James 5:14-15

Is anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Dowsing and Aromatherapy: "Dowsing is an age-old means of tapping our beings' unconscious or intuitive nature. It is used to answer questions. ... The instrument used for dowsing is called a pendulum. A pendulum is usually some type of small object hung on a cord...A pendulum that points towards the bottom is most effective.

The pendulum swings with its own force, with no motion from your hand, when you ask a question (either out loud or mentally). It will turn in one direction for yes and another for no. ...Determine the direction of a yes response and a no response before using the pendulum. To do this, you can ask, "What is the direction for yes?" then ask, "What is the direction for no?". Another way is to ask a question that you know is true or false. For example - you can ask, "Is my name Kelly"?; then ask, "Is my name (and use your name)"? The swing of a pendulum for a yes / no answer may vary from one person to another and from one pendulum to another.

Once you know the direction in which your pendulum swings, you are ready to use dowsing for inner guidance. Be sure to phrase your questions for a yes or a no answer. At times, the swing may have more incredible speed. This may be understood as a more "insistent" answer to your question.

Many pregnant women have inadvertently used dowsing to determine whether they are carrying a boy or girl. When I was 19, I was told about this practice by an older "Christian" woman who advocated its use. It sickens my heart to understand how easy it is to be pulled into the occult.

Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

So let me get this straight. Aromatherapy which is another method of healiing is a sin because we are only to use the power of faith through our prayers. Are you on any pharmaceatical drugs? Have you seen a doctor before? If you have...I think you are in danger of contradiction. Aromatherapic oil is diluted liquid from plants. Which would make them an Herb. The bible has declared that herbs are for man's use. Herbs have natural medicine which is God's gift to us.

Respectfully, I don't think you understand what the article is really saying...

It is NOT being stated that aromatherapy is a sin when it is used in accordance with what scripture teaches.

SO...*not a sin when it EXACTLY follows the Word of God.

but CLEARLY A SIN when it doesn't.

and DEFINITELY wrong when it promotes any kind of:

(1)SPIRITUAL HEALING APART FROM CHRIST...(Preaching a different Christ- Read Galatians 1)

(2)EMOTIONAL HEALING OR CENTERING APART FROM CHRIST...(Preaching a different Christ- Read Galatians 1)

(3)THEORY THAT THE OILS USED HAVE ANY KIND OF DEVINE INTELLIGENCE OF THEIR OWN...PANTHEISM or GOD IN EVERYTHING (As Promoted in David Stewart's Book: Healing Oils of the Bible P. 19)

(4)THEORY THAT THE OILS IMBUE ANY KIND OF SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE APART FROM CHRIST...(As Promoted in David Stewart's Book: Healing Oils of the Bible P. 20)

(5)THEORY THAT THE OILS ARE SELF INTELLIGENT IN ANY WAY...(As Promoted in David Stewart's Book: Healing Oils of the Bible P. 21)

(6)THEORY THAT THE WORD OF GOD IS INCOMPLETE IN ANY WAY...(As Promoted in David Stewart's Book: Healing Oils of the Bible P. 5)

(7)THEORY THAT OILS CANNOT HURT OUR HEALTH WHEN USED IMPROPERLY (ONE CAN OVERDOSE ON A FAT-SOLUBLE SUBSTANCE TAKEN INTERNALLY or EXTERNALLY QUITE EASILY...)

And these are just a few from this ONE BOOK- and this guy is supposed to be a PHD and a christian!! It is true that oils contain some powerful molecules that can *aid in the healing process-albeit physical, emotional, spiritual, mental...whatever. BUT...I repeat *BUT...
Healing on *any of these levels begins and ends with with Jesus Christ. To say that oils are 'essential' to the Biblical Healing process- reduces the FINISHED COMPLETE work of Christ and the Holy Spirit....

Remeber that we are being equiped for every good work...

2 Timothy 3 (King James Version)

2 Timothy 3
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

***5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

***7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

***9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

***13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

***14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

***15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

***16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

***17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
