The Deception of Iridology

The Deception of Iridology: Exposing Its Occult Roots and Spiritual Dangers

The Deception of Iridology: Exposing Its Occult Roots and Spiritual Dangers

The Deception of Iridology: Exposing Its Occult Roots and Spiritual Dangers

In today’s wellness-obsessed world, many are turning to alternative therapies for answers to physical, emotional, and even spiritual issues. Among these is iridology, a form of alternative medicine that claims one can diagnose bodily ailments by examining patterns, colors, and characteristics of the iris—the colored part of the eye.

At first glance, it may seem harmless, even fascinating. After all, the Bible does say the eye is the lamp of the body (Matthew 6:22). But does that mean God supports using the eye for divination or medical discernment rooted in spiritual deception? Let’s explore the roots, beliefs, and real dangers of iridology—and why this seemingly harmless health tool could be a trap set by the enemy of your soul.

What Is Iridology?

Iridology, also known as iris diagnosis, is based on the belief that every organ in the body corresponds to a location in the iris. Practitioners use charts and magnification tools to examine the iris, claiming they can spot dysfunctions in organs or systems. The purpose is to supposedly detect health weaknesses or early signs of illness.

But here’s the problem: there’s no scientific validation for iridology, and deeper investigation reveals spiritual roots far outside of biblical truth.

Who Created Iridology—and What Was Their Belief System?

Iridology traces back to Ignaz von Peczely, a Hungarian physician in the 19th century. The story goes that as a child, he accidentally broke the leg of an owl and noticed a black stripe appearing in its iris. Years later, as a physician, he began correlating iris markings with patient ailments.

But it wasn’t science that inspired Peczely’s theories—it was mysticism. He was influenced by the esoteric and metaphysical movements that were gaining momentum in Europe during the 1800s. These movements blended alternative healing with the occult, astrology, and energy-based diagnostics.

Later, iridology was embraced and expanded by New Age proponents like Bernard Jensen, a chiropractor and nutritionist who helped popularize the practice in the U.S. Jensen’s work incorporated holistic and Eastern philosophies—often incompatible with biblical faith.

What Culture Did Iridology Arise From?

Iridology emerged in Western Europe during a time of increasing occult curiosity, with influences from early alternative medical movements, theosophy, and spiritualism. These belief systems emphasize inner enlightenment, self-diagnosis, and bypassing divine healing through Jesus Christ.

In essence, it was birthed in a culture seeking knowledge outside of God's Word, looking inward or to creation itself rather than the Creator.

Who Are the “Gods” of Iridology?

While iridology doesn’t explicitly name gods, the philosophies behind it do. The New Age worldview from which iridology gained traction sees man as divine, able to access higher realms of knowledge through intuitive or mystical methods. This replaces dependence on God with self-reliance, inner light, and universal energy—all concepts directly opposed to biblical teaching.

The true god behind such deceptions is the "god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4)—Satan—who disguises himself as an angel of light. He offers counterfeit healing to distract people from the true Healer: Jesus Christ.

What Kind of People Use Iridology?

People who turn to iridology often fall into these categories:

  • Those desperate for healing and answers not found through traditional medicine.

  • Spiritually curious individuals open to holistic or New Age practices.

  • Wellness seekers who believe in the integration of mind, body, and spirit—but without biblical guidance.

  • Even some professing Christians, unaware of the spiritual roots, have been seduced by this "natural" practice.

What they all share is a desire for knowledge, control, and wellness—but too often they seek these apart from the wisdom and will of God.

The Hidden Dangers: What Happens Spiritually?

While iridology may not appear occultic like tarot cards or séances, the spiritual danger is just as real. Here’s why:

1. It Opens the Door to Demonic Torment

Engaging in occult-based diagnostics—even unknowingly—invites spiritual torment. Many who have submitted to iridology begin experiencing:

  • Mental confusion or unrest

  • Seeing lights or shadowy figures

  • Hearing unexplained voices

  • Feelings of oppression or heaviness

  • Depression, suicidal thoughts, or worsening physical ailments

This is because occult practices place a person under the influence of demonic spirits. What appears as healing at first can become a snare leading to bondage, confusion, and even death.

What Does God’s Word Say?

In Deuteronomy 18:9–12, God makes it clear:

“When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations... There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination... or a soothsayer... or one who interprets omens... For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.”

God strongly forbids divination and occult knowledge because it bypasses trust in Him and invites demonic deception. Iridology, though masked as health care, functions as an occult diagnostic tool—and falls under the practices God calls abominable.

The Occult's Empty Promise

The enemy always promises power, insight, and healing—but delivers slavery. Iridology may promise early detection and holistic health, but it comes with a spiritual price tag: torment, confusion, and separation from God.

What begins as a curiosity or desperate reach for healing can become a path to madness, possession, or death. Only Jesus offers true healing—of the spirit, soul, and body.

Jesus Is Greater Than Any Occult Power

The Gospel reveals the incomparable power of Christ:

  • He casts out demons with a word (Luke 4:36)

  • He healed every disease (Matthew 4:23)

  • He came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8)

When someone turns from occult practices like iridology and runs to Jesus, He sets them free. “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

Break Free and Come into the Light

If you’ve participated in iridology or had your iris read:

  1. Repent – Acknowledge it was sin and ask God for forgiveness.

  2. Renounce – Verbally reject and break all agreement with the practice.

  3. Receive Deliverance – Ask Jesus to remove any demonic spirits or torment.

  4. Replace – Fill your heart and mind with God’s Word and truth.

Final Warning and Hope

Iridology is not just pseudoscience—it is spiritual deception dressed as healthcare. The devil is cunning, offering “solutions” that bypass God and eventually ensnare souls. But God’s mercy is greater. If you’ve opened a door to the occult through iridology or similar practices, it’s not too late. Jesus came to set the captives free. Many Christian are into holistic medicine and believe it is safe but the fact is we perish from lack of knowledge.

Run to Him today. Forsake the occult. Reject the lie. Receive the truth—and be healed by the only One who truly sees you, knows you, and has the power to restore you completely.

Let the eye be the lamp of your body—lit not by mystical light, but by the light of Christ alone.

Methods of discernment to not fall into these false demonic practices:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Many occult practices within Christianity require discernment.  Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

God’s Warning Against Inner Listening and Channeling Spirits

God’s Warning Against Inner Listening and Channeling Spirits

God’s Warning Against Inner Listening and Channeling Spirits

Inner Listening and Channeling: A Deceptive Door to Demonic Influence

In today’s age of spiritual experimentation and New Age teachings, many are drawn to practices like “inner listening” or channeling for personal guidance, emotional healing, or deeper enlightenment. These practices involve quieting the mind to receive supposed messages from spirit guides, ancestors, or other unseen entities. While these methods may appear harmless—or even beneficial—at first, they often open the door to dangerous spiritual influences that can lead to mental torment, confusion, and even death. As Christians, it is crucial to discern the spiritual roots of such practices and to understand why God strictly forbids them.

What Is Inner Listening?

Inner listening refers to the practice of stilling the mind to receive internal guidance, usually attributed to higher beings or universal consciousness. It's often promoted through meditation, channeling, automatic writing, or spiritual coaching. Many practitioners claim to hear messages from ascended masters, spirit guides, deceased loved ones, or extraterrestrial beings. These messages usually come in the form of thoughts, voices, visions, or inner impressions.

The intent behind this practice is often spiritual growth, emotional healing, or personal empowerment. However, it also reflects a deeper desire for secret knowledge and divine insight—outside of God.

Who Uses It and Why?

Those who engage in inner listening come from diverse backgrounds—psychics, mediums, spiritual healers, energy workers, and New Age seekers. Many are genuinely looking for answers, healing from trauma, or purpose in life. Some seek to awaken hidden abilities or establish a direct link to the spiritual world. However, the source of this “guidance” is not the Holy Spirit but unclean spirits that disguise themselves as beings of light.

2 Corinthians 11:14 warns, “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”

Historical and Cultural Roots

Inner listening and channeling have deep roots in ancient pagan cultures. These practices are found in shamanism, Hinduism, spiritualism, Theosophy, and Eastern mysticism. One key figure in popularizing channeling was Alice Bailey, a Theosophist and medium who claimed to receive messages from a spirit named “Djwhal Khul.” Her writings laid the foundation for much of today’s New Age teachings.

Bailey’s spirituality was steeped in occultism, esoteric knowledge, and Luciferian principles. She saw Lucifer as a bringer of light and knowledge—a blatant contradiction to the truth of Scripture. Her god was not the God of the Bible, but the so-called "universal consciousness" or cosmic force—impersonal and morally neutral.

The Spiritual Danger: Demonic Influence

What many do not realize is that opening oneself to unknown spiritual voices is equivalent to giving demons legal access to torment the soul. These unseen beings do not come in peace. Once invited, they begin to influence the mind and emotions, often leading to mental health issues, hearing disturbing voices, seeing flashing lights or shadowy figures, sleep paralysis, depression, or suicidal thoughts.

While these manifestations are often dismissed as psychological, they are spiritual in origin. People inch closer to madness without realizing the enemy is using their desire for divine connection as a trap.

King Saul: A Biblical Warning

Scripture gives us sobering examples. In 1 Samuel 28, King Saul, after losing favor with God, turned to a medium to call up the spirit of the prophet Samuel. Though he once banished such practices, Saul's disobedience led him into direct contact with the occult. The result? He was told of his impending death. His descent into madness and death was the cost of consulting the dead.

This is not just an Old Testament story—it is a severe warning. When people reject God’s voice and instead turn to lesser spirits for answers, they are stepping into enemy territory.

What Does the Bible Say?

Deuteronomy 18:9–12 clearly forbids inner listening, channeling, and any form of occultism:

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”

Why does God forbid these things? Because they are not innocent. They involve communion with demons who offer counterfeit guidance that leads to bondage, deception, and spiritual death.

God desires His children to hear His voice—through His Word and the Holy Spirit—not from dark spirits masquerading as guides.

The Occult’s Empty Promises

The occult promises enlightenment, hidden knowledge, and healing. It tempts seekers with control, power, and deeper understanding of life’s mysteries. But in reality, these “gifts” are a baited hook. The knowledge they offer is counterfeit. The power they deliver is slavery. The enlightenment they claim is darkness disguised as light.

Many who enter into inner listening end up spiritually oppressed, emotionally unstable, and physically ill. Deliverance ministries around the world are full of testimonies from people who dabbled in these practices and paid a heavy price—until they turned to Jesus for freedom.

Jesus: The Only True Source of Light

The good news is that Jesus Christ is the only door to true peace, wisdom, and spiritual connection. He doesn’t speak in riddles or manipulate. He says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).

Jesus demonstrates throughout the Gospels that His power and authority are far greater than the demonic realm. In Mark 1:23-27, Jesus casts out an unclean spirit simply with His word—no rituals, no incantations, no “inner listening.”

Unlike the spirits that demand submission through fear, Jesus brings love, truth, and deliverance.

God’s Invitation to Freedom

If you’ve been involved in inner listening or channeling, know this: You can be free. Repent, renounce the spirits you’ve listened to, and turn to the living God. He will not shame you—He will forgive and deliver you. He longs to speak with you through His Spirit and His Word. You don’t need a spirit guide. You need the Holy Spirit.

Jesus says in John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Let His truth be your anchor. Reject the counterfeit. Receive the true and living God.

CONCLUSION

Inner listening and channeling may sound spiritual, but they are dangerous deceptions. Rooted in occultism and guided by demonic spirits, these practices open the door to torment and death. God's Word warns against them not to restrict us, but to protect us. Only in Jesus can we find truth, freedom, and true connection to the One who created us.

Choose the voice of God—not the voices of darkness.

Methods of discernment to not fall into these false demonic practices:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Incantations and the Demonic

Incantations and the Demonic: Breaking Free Through Jesus Christ

Incantations and the Demonic: Breaking Free Through Jesus Christ

Incantations: Deception Disguised as Power

An incantation is defined as a series of words said as a magic spell or charm, often recited to bring about a supernatural result. From ancient pagan rituals to modern-day occult practices, incantations are still widely used around the world—spoken or sung to invoke protection, healing, power, or guidance. But behind the surface of poetic words lies a sinister spiritual force that Christians must not ignore.

While incantations may seem harmless or even helpful, they are deeply rooted in occultism and are strictly forbidden in the Bible. Far from being spiritually neutral, incantations open the door to demonic activity and bring people under spiritual bondage, torment, and deception.

Origins and Cultural Roots of Incantations

Incantations have been found in nearly every ancient culture—from Egyptian burial texts and

Babylonian chants to Hindu mantras and African tribal rituals. Common in Wicca, shamanism, voodoo, and even modern New Age practices, these verbal rituals are intended to tap into unseen spiritual forces.

The spirituality behind these cultures was polytheistic and animistic. They believed in many gods, spirits, and elemental forces. They viewed incantations as tools to manipulate the spirit world for their benefit. But these gods and spirits were not neutral. According to Scripture, “all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens” (Psalm 96:5). The spiritual forces they called upon were demons in disguise.

In most cases, incantations were used not to worship the true God but to gain hidden knowledge, alter fate, or control circumstances—practices that oppose God’s command to trust Him fully and walk in obedience.

The Purpose and Mechanism of Incantations

Incantations function like spiritual keys. When spoken with belief and intent, they are designed to open unseen spiritual doors and invoke interaction with spirits—whether the practitioner realizes it or not. The repetition, cadence, and focus in chanting or speaking incantations act as a form of meditation that can lead to altered states of consciousness. But rather than entering into the presence of God, individuals become vulnerable to demonic influence.

What begins as curiosity or a desire for help can quickly spiral into torment. People often experience mental confusion, intrusive thoughts, voices, hallucinations, and emotional instability. What’s happening? They’ve granted legal access to demonic spirits who now begin to oppress or possess them.

Jesus warned in John 10:10 that “the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” Incantations may promise light and wisdom, but in truth, they are tools of Satan to enslave souls under deception and suffering.

Who uses these incantations?

Witches often perform incantations, which are magical formulas that are spoken, sung, or chanted to trigger a magical effect on objects or people. Incantations can also be performed during prayers or ceremonial rituals. In folklore and culture, witches, wizards, and fairies are common performers of incantations.

Some witches in the dark side will send curses to Christians or to other witches

Witches are commonly believed to cast curses, which are spells or gestures that use magical words to inflict supernatural harm on someone. Curses can also involve using items from the target, such as hair, clothing, or bodily waste, to work magic against them. Other ways witches may cast curses include:

Inscribing runes or sigils on objects to give them magical powers

Burning or binding a wax or clay image of the person to affect them magically

Using herbs, animal parts, and other substances to make potions or poisons

Conjuring the spirits of the dead for divination or prophecy.

Some say that evil spells can include:

  • Dividing
  • Killing
  • Making someone fall in love
  • Making someone ill
  • Destroying
  • Leading to suicide
  • Dividing spouses, the engaged, and friends

If a Christian has a relationship with the Lord and walks in obedience, these incantations cannot touch them. Unless the door is open through disobedience, sin, generational curses, etc.

While Christians may still face trials and hardships, God promises to be with them, sustaining them with His strength and comfort. Their protection is assured for those who trust in Him.

Mental Torment and Spiritual Consequences

There are so-called Christians that do incantations on others or to sum up the spiritual side. Many who practice incantations experience psychological breakdowns. They may begin seeing flashing lights, hearing disembodied voices, or battling suicidal thoughts. As their souls inch deeper into darkness, peace becomes elusive, and madness looms. What they thought would give them power now holds them captive. Basically, it puts you into bondage and captivity to the demonic realm.

Suicide, paranoia, self-harm, and deep depression are often linked to occult activity. These are not merely mental health issues; they are spiritual strongholds brought on by opening doors that God clearly commands us to keep shut.

God’s Clear Command: Do Not Engage

The Bible is unmistakably clear on God’s view of occult practices:

“When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone…who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer…For whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD.”
(Deuteronomy 18:9–12, ESV)

Why does God forbid these practices so strongly? Because they lead people away from Him and under the power of the enemy. Trusting in incantations is a direct denial of God’s Word and an embrace of counterfeit spiritual power.

Biblical Examples: The Cost of Disobedience

King Saul and the Medium of Endor (1 Samuel 28)

King Saul, once anointed by God, fell into deep rebellion and disobedience. When God stopped speaking to him through prophets or dreams, Saul turned to a forbidden source: a medium. He disguised himself and asked her to summon the prophet Samuel from the dead.

This act of necromancy and rebellion cost Saul his life. Samuel’s spirit rebuked him, and shortly afterward, Saul died in battle. This account shows that turning from God to lesser sources of power is not only sinful but deadly.

“So Saul died for his breach of faith. He broke faith with the LORD... and consulted a medium, seeking guidance.”
(1 Chronicles 10:13)

The Slave Girl with a Spirit of Divination (Acts 16:16-18)

In the New Testament, Paul encountered a girl who had a “spirit of divination” and made her masters rich through fortune-telling. She followed Paul and his companions, crying out truths about them, but Paul was grieved—not because she was wrong, but because her source was demonic.

Paul cast the spirit out of her, demonstrating the superior power of Christ. Though she used no incantations in the passage, her spiritual bondage mirrors what many today experience when engaging in occult practices.

Empty Promises: The Lie of the Occult

The occult lures people in with promises of knowledge, control, and empowerment. But these are lies. The devil never gives without taking far more. What begins with curiosity ends in spiritual slavery.

The apostle Paul warned in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” That’s exactly what incantations do—they appear beautiful, mystical, and empowering, but lead to spiritual ruin.

Only Jesus Christ Sets the Captives Free

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8) and set the captives free. There is no bondage too deep, no deception too strong, that His power cannot break. If you have engaged in incantations or any occult activity, turn to Jesus in repentance.

Renounce the works of darkness. Ask God for deliverance. Break every agreement you’ve made with the enemy—whether knowingly or unknowingly—and receive the healing power of Jesus Christ. His love brings freedom, peace, and eternal life.

Final Warning and Call to Truth

Incantations are not innocent. They are spiritual snares that invite demonic torment and sever your relationship with God. Scripture doesn’t say to experiment with them—it says to avoid them completely.

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.”
(Ephesians 5:11)

The enemy wants your soul, but Jesus gave His life to redeem it. Choose truth. Choose freedom. Choose the power of God over the counterfeit of the enemy. Let Jesus be your guide, your healer, and your Deliverer.

Methods of discernment:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

Many occult practices within Christianity require discernment.  Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Unmasking the Occult Origins of Graphology and Why Christians Should Stay Away

Unmasking the Occult Origins of Graphology (Handwriting Analysis) and Why Christians Should Stay Away

Unmasking the Occult Origins of Graphology (Handwriting Analysis) and Why Christians Should Stay Away

The Hidden Dangers of Handwriting Analysis: A Christian Exposé on Its Spiritual Roots

At first glance, handwriting analysis—or graphology—may seem like a harmless personality test or a quirky psychological tool. It's used in hiring decisions, personal growth exercises, and even criminal investigations. But behind the practice lies a web of spiritual danger, occult origins, and deceptive promises that directly conflict with biblical truth.

This article examines the origins of handwriting analysis, its creator, the spiritual beliefs underlying it, and why Christians should be cautious of it.

The Origins of Handwriting Analysis

Graphology—the study of a person’s character through their handwriting—emerged formally in the 19th century but has roots going back even further. While several figures played a role in shaping modern graphology, one of the most influential was Jean-Hippolyte Michon, a French priest turned mystic who published the first significant works on the subject in the 1870s. Ironically, although Michon was originally a Roman Catholic priest, his interest in hidden meanings and mystical insights began to diverge from biblical orthodoxy.

Michon's graphology was influenced by earlier esoteric ideas—especially those aligned with mysticism, spiritualism, and occult beliefs. Over time, graphology was adopted and adapted by New Age practitioners, spiritualists, and even astrologers, who used it not just as a psychological tool but as a means to access hidden or spiritual knowledge.

The Spirituality Behind Graphology

Though sometimes masked by scientific terminology, the spiritual underpinning of handwriting analysis is rooted in occult philosophies. Those who practice advanced graphology often view handwriting as a mirror of the soul—something that can be tapped into for insight beyond human reasoning. This belief aligns with the esoteric principle that knowledge of the self and others can be gained through symbols, patterns, and mystical observation.

In this system, the divine is often impersonal, or multiple "gods" or "energies" are acknowledged—opening the door for pantheistic or polytheistic worldviews. The practitioners are often drawn to eastern religions, Gnosticism, or New Age teachings, which deny the authority of the Bible and the sovereignty of Jesus Christ.

Cultures and Beliefs That Fed Graphology

Graphology draws influence from ancient Egyptian symbolism, Kabbalistic thought, and Greek philosophical ideas. The shared thread across these cultures is a belief in hidden knowledge (gnosis) and a desire to control or uncover unseen forces through symbolic interpretation—precisely what Deuteronomy 18:9-12 warns against.

“There shall not be found among you anyone... who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens... For whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.”Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Who is Their "God"?

Rather than acknowledging the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, these systems often revere impersonal energies, ascended masters, or even universal consciousness. The absence of a personal, sovereign God leads to self-deification, where the human becomes the source of wisdom, insight, and healing—a dangerous lie from the enemy. You are the god.

Opening the Door to Demonic Torment

Practicing graphology or submitting to its interpretation can act as a gateway into occultism, especially when individuals become dependent on it for guidance, insight, or truth. This opens spiritual doors to demonic influence - demonic spirits, mental torment, and emotional instability.

People have reported:

  • Hearing unexplained voices

  • Seeing strange lights or shadows

  • Experiencing psychological breakdowns

  • Entering deep confusion or despair

  • Even battling thoughts of suicide

Like many occult practices, what begins as curiosity can quickly spiral into bondage.

The Biblical Warning: King Saul’s Example

A powerful biblical illustration is found in the life of King Saul. When Saul chose to seek guidance from the witch of Endor rather than the Lord (1 Samuel 28), it marked a significant turning point in his spiritual decline. His rebellion in turning to forbidden spiritual practices ultimately led to his death.

“So Saul died for his breach of faith... he did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore the Lord put him to death...”1 Chronicles 10:13-14

When we turn to anything other than God’s truth for insight—whether tarot cards, astrology, or handwriting—we open ourselves up to deception and destruction.

What God Says in Deuteronomy 18

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.”Deuteronomy 18:9

This passage makes it clear: God forbids practices such as divination, interpreting omens, or seeking hidden knowledge outside of Him—not to withhold power, but to protect His people from spiritual torment.

The promise of hidden knowledge outside of God's Word is Satan’s oldest trick. It echoes his lie in the Garden of Eden: “You will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5). But what he delivers is not wisdom—it’s death.

The Spirit of Divination: A New Testament Warning

In Acts 16, Paul encounters a slave girl possessed by a spirit of divination. She earned money for her masters by fortune-telling—another occult practice.

“Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, ‘I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.’ And it came out that very hour.”Acts 16:18

This girl was not empowered—she was enslaved. The enemy does not give gifts freely; he exacts a terrible price.

Why God Forbids These Practices

  1. They Deny the Sufficiency of Scripture – When we seek guidance from symbols, signs, or analysis, we reject the voice of God.

  2. They Invite Demonic Influence – Occult practices are entry points for spiritual darkness and torment.

  3. They Lead to Bondage and Death – The devil offers counterfeit insight that always ends in slavery, confusion, and destruction.

The Power of the Gospel

Only in Jesus do we find true wisdom, healing, and deliverance. He came to set captives free, not bind them to deceptive spiritual systems.

“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God.”1 Corinthians 3:19

Instead of opening ourselves to darkness, we are called to walk in the light of Christ. His Spirit leads into truth, never confusion. He gives peace, not torment. He brings life, not death.

Final Thoughts

Handwriting analysis is not just a quirky science or job tool. It has occult roots, spiritual dangers, and serious consequences. Christians must be discerning and vigilant, rejecting any source of truth outside of God’s Word. As we draw nearer to Christ and renounce hidden knowledge and forbidden practices, we experience freedom, clarity, and peace.

If you or someone you know has been involved in handwriting analysis or similar practices and is now experiencing confusion, torment, or despair—Jesus can deliver you. Confess, renounce, and invite the Holy Spirit to bring truth and healing.

“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”John 8:36

Why Christians Must Reject I Ching: The Spiritual Consequences of Seeking the Occult

I Ching: An Ancient Guide or Gateway to Darkness? A Christian Warning

The I Ching, also known as the Book of Changes, is one of the oldest Chinese texts, used for over 3,000 years as a manual for decision-making and insight through divination. However, while many view it as a harmless or even enlightening tradition, Christians must ask: What is the true spiritual source of this ancient wisdom? And what are the eternal consequences of seeking guidance apart from God?

What is the I Ching?

The I Ching is a divination tool based on 64 hexagrams—combinations of six lines that are either broken (yin) or unbroken (yang). These symbols represent different forces and outcomes in life. A practitioner typically tosses coins or sticks, interprets the result, and reads the corresponding hexagram from the book to receive advice or insight.

At its core, the I Ching is rooted in Taoist and Confucian philosophy, reflecting beliefs in dualism (yin and yang), fate, ancestral spirits, and harmony with the cosmos. It is not simply philosophical—it is spiritually charged and explicitly used to divine hidden knowledge.

What Was the Spirituality Behind I Ching?

The I Ching emerged from ancient Chinese spirituality, particularly Taoism, which emphasizes following the Tao (the "Way")—a mystical force believed to be the source and pattern of the universe. Taoism recognizes no personal Creator God but sees all of reality as interconnected energy flows.

In Confucianism, the I Ching was integrated as a moral and ethical guide, while still maintaining its use in divination, not as a prayer to the one true God, but as a dialogue with impersonal cosmic forces or even ancestral spirits. This spiritual foundation is pagan and occult, utterly incompatible with biblical Christianity.

Who Are the 'Gods' Behind the I Ching?

The I Ching doesn't involve a single god but interacts with spiritual forces often understood as part of nature or the universe. Taoist beliefs may include veneration of ancestral spirits, nature deities, and immortals—entities that are, from a biblical standpoint, demonic impersonators (1 Corinthians 10:20).

When people consult the I Ching, they are not interacting with God. They are engaging in a spiritual practice outside the boundaries of Scripture, which opens doors to demonic deception.

Dangers of I Ching: The Demonic Entry Point

Many who begin using the I Ching experience psychological and emotional disturbances:

  • Hearing voices

  • Seeing flashes of light

  • Being plagued with anxiety or confusion

  • Feeling a loss of control

  • Obsessive behaviors

  • Suicidal thoughts

These are not random effects—they are signs of spiritual torment. When someone uses divination to bypass God’s voice, they unwittingly enter into communion with demonic spirits who counterfeit wisdom but bring torment, bondage, and destruction (John 10:10).

Biblical Warnings Against Divination

The Bible clearly and consistently warns God’s people to avoid divination and consulting spiritual forces other than God.

“When you come into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations… There shall not be found among you… a diviner… or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 18:9–12 (KJV)

This passage reveals that divination is an abomination—a practice so spiritually dangerous that God detests it. Why? Because it opens the door to bondage, lies, and demonic control.

King Saul: A Tragic Example

King Saul of Israel provides a chilling example. When God no longer answered him due to his rebellion, Saul consulted a medium—the witch of Endor—to summon the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 28). This act sealed Saul’s fate. He died in battle the next day, his kingdom lost.

By seeking the occult instead of repentance, Saul chose rebellion and encountered spiritual death.

“So Saul died for his transgression… and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it.”
1 Chronicles 10:13

The Slave Girl With a Spirit of Divination

In Acts 16:16-18, Paul encounters a slave girl possessed by a spirit of divination, who earned money for her masters by fortune-telling. She cried out loudly, but Paul recognized the spirit and cast it out in Jesus’ name.

This demonstrates that divination is not merely a natural or psychological phenomenon—it can be spiritually demonic. It also shows the superior authority of Jesus Christ over all demonic forces.

Why Does God Forbid the I Ching and Similar Practices?

God’s prohibition of divination is not about restriction—it’s about protection. Seeking knowledge from the occult is a denial of God's truth and a declaration that He is not enough. This rebellion exposes people to:

  • Deception

  • Spiritual bondage

  • Mental torment

  • Physical and emotional illness

  • Death

The occult promises power and enlightenment, but delivers only misery and destruction. It replaces the peace of God with confusion, and His truth with spiritual lies.

Jesus: The True Light That Overcomes Darkness

Jesus Christ is the only source of truth and guidance for life. He said:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
John 14:6

He also promises the Holy Spirit, who leads us into all truth (John 16:13)—not random symbols or hexagrams, but divine relationship.

Through Jesus, we find:

  • Freedom from demonic bondage

  • Peace instead of torment

  • Wisdom from above

  • Eternal life, not spiritual death

Conclusion: Reject the I Ching and Embrace the Truth

The I Ching may appear ancient and wise, but its roots are deeply occult, pagan, and spiritually dangerous. What seems like harmless insight is a seductive trap into demonic torment and deception.

If you or someone you know has been involved with the I Ching or any form of divination, the answer is repentance and turning to Jesus. Renounce the practice, break the agreement with the enemy, and ask God to heal and deliver you from any torment.

Jesus is not only greater than the I Ching—He is the only Way to life, truth, and peace.

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
John 8:32

Methods of discernment:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Many occult practices within Christianity require discernment.  Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

Hydromancy Exposed: The Hidden Dangers of Water Divination

Hydromancy Exposed: The Hidden Dangers of Water Divination

Hydromancy Exposed: The Hidden Dangers of Water Divination

Hydromancy: Water Divination and the Spiritual Dangers Christians Must Avoid

In a world craving spiritual insight and supernatural power, many are turning to ancient and mysterious practices to gain wisdom. One such method is hydromancy—a form of divination that uses water’s appearance and movement to predict the future or uncover hidden truths. But beneath the surface of this seemingly innocent practice lies a spiritual trap—one that God sternly warns against.

Hydromancy may appear peaceful or insightful, but it is deeply rooted in occult tradition and opens doors to dark, demonic influences. For the Christian, this is not just a question of cultural curiosity—it is a spiritual battleground with eternal consequences.

What Is Hydromancy and Where Did It Come From?

Hydromancy is one of the oldest known forms of divination, dating back to Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman cultures. Practitioners would study ripples in water, reflections, the movement of objects in water, or even drops of oil floating on water to receive supposed messages from the spirit world.

In ancient Greece, hydromancy was often performed in sacred springs or basins near temples dedicated to pagan gods. Among the Romans, it was tied to the priesthood and occult rituals. These civilizations believed water could act as a portal between the physical and spiritual realms—a belief that contradicts the teachings of Scripture.

The Spiritual Beliefs Behind Hydromancy

Hydromancy isn’t just a fun cultural activity—it’s deeply spiritual. The people who practiced it were often polytheists, worshiping multiple deities who were believed to control nature, including water. They invoked these gods during rituals, believing they were receiving divine messages through the movement and clarity of water.

These “gods” were not the true God of the Bible. They were false deities and demonic entities that deceived people into idolatry and bondage. The devil has always worked to imitate God’s power with counterfeit miracles and prophetic revelations.

What Does the Bible Say About Hydromancy and Divination?

God’s Word is absolutely clear: Divination in any form is strictly forbidden.

“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you... who practices divination... or who interprets omens... or who casts spells... Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.”
— Deuteronomy 18:9-12 (NIV)

Hydromancy falls squarely within these forbidden practices. It's not just “bad” because it's ineffective or culturally taboo—it's dangerous because it connects people with the demonic realm. It’s a rejection of God’s Word in favor of a “lesser” and deceptive power source.

The Cost of Going to the Occult Instead of God

Let’s examine some sobering biblical examples:

King Saul and the Witch of Endor (1 Samuel 28)

When King Saul could no longer hear from God due to his rebellion, he turned to a medium—another forbidden practice. He visited the witch of Endor and asked her to summon the spirit of the prophet Samuel. Though a spirit did appear and predicted Saul’s death, this encounter led to his utter despair and eventual suicide.

By seeking answers through occult means, Saul not only disobeyed God but invited spiritual destruction upon himself.

Balaam the Diviner (Numbers 22–24)

Balaam was a known diviner whom the King of Moab hired to curse Israel. While God intervened and prevented Balaam from cursing His people, Balaam’s heart was not aligned with God. He used spiritual manipulation for profit, and later taught Moab how to seduce Israel into sin. In the end, Balaam was killed for his wickedness (Numbers 31:8, Revelation 2:14).

What Are the Modern Dangers of Hydromancy?

Hydromancy may be practiced today in more subtle forms—through “water scrying,” New Age rituals, or spiritual workshops that claim to offer intuition, insight, or healing using water. Regardless of the method, the spiritual roots remain demonic.

Here are some of the common signs of demonic torment that follow involvement with occult divination like hydromancy:

  • Mental confusion or torment

  • Hearing voices that command or accuse

  • Seeing strange lights or shadowy figures

  • Sleep paralysis or nightmares

  • Suicidal thoughts or violent impulses

  • Feeling spiritually oppressed or watched

These are not signs of enlightenment—they are indicators that a spiritual door has been opened. What begins as curiosity often ends in torment, bondage, or even death.

Why God Forbids These Practices

God’s commandments are not meant to limit our freedom—they are designed to protect us from destruction. When we pursue occult knowledge instead of seeking the truth in God’s Word, we choose deception over divine guidance.

The devil’s promises are always baited traps. He offers power, wisdom, and revelation—but delivers only bondage, torment, and spiritual death.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
— John 10:10 (NIV)

Jesus exposes the emptiness of occult power and offers something infinitely better: freedom, peace, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

The Power of the Gospel Is Greater

If you’ve ever been involved in hydromancy or any other form of divination, there is hope and healing in Jesus Christ. Repentance is the key. When we renounce the occult and turn back to God, He is faithful to forgive and deliver us.

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
— James 4:7 (NIV)

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus demonstrated that His power surpasses every demonic force. Where the enemy brings confusion and death, Christ brings clarity, truth, healing, and eternal life. Remember, Jesus became the sacrificial lamb for all humans who receive Him. No other false god did this for humanity. Why, God so loved the world that He sent his son to die for us to give us eternal life.

Conclusion: Choose Truth Over Deception

Hydromancy may be ancient and mysterious, but it is not of God. It stems from spiritual rebellion and opens the door to demonic influence. Scripture could not be clearer—all forms of divination are detestable in God’s eyes. The path of water divination does not lead to truth, but to darkness.

But the good news of the Gospel is this: You don’t have to seek knowledge from water, cards, or spirits. The Creator of the universe invites you into a personal relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.

God’s wisdom is pure, peaceful, and life-giving. You can trust Him to lead you—not through shadows and symbols—but through His Spirit and His Word.

Final Call to Action
