Exposing the Spirit Behind New Age Energy: What the Bible Really Says

Exposing the Spirit Behind New Age Energy: What the Bible Really Says

The Spiritual Roots of Universal Energy Practices: A Biblical Warning

Today’s culture has widely embraced New Age philosophies that promote “universal energy” as a means of healing, self-awareness, and divine connection. Practices like yoga, Reiki, acupuncture, and chakra alignment are praised for their benefits—yet behind the appealing surface lies a deeper spiritual truth. As believers, we must test every spirit (1 John 4:1) and discern whether the energy source aligns with God or another spirit altogether.

🌬️ The Common Thread: Energy as Divine

From Hinduism’s prana to Chinese Taoism’s chi, Polynesian mana, or Kundalini serpent power—each tradition refers to a so-called life force flowing through the body and the universe. These are not just metaphors or neutral energies; they are part of deeply spiritual systems grounded in pantheistic and occult worldviews that conflict with the Bible.

Yoga, often viewed as physical exercise, is spiritual in nature. The word yoga means “to yoke,” symbolizing union—not with Christ—but with Hindu deities. The poses themselves are acts of worship in the original context, dedicated to gods like Shiva. Kundalini—the coiled serpent—awakens spiritual energy meant to travel through the spine toward Shiva, representing a demonic imitation of spiritual enlightenment.

Practices such as Reiki, Tai Chi, acupressure, and reflexology also rely on manipulating energy fields and meridian systems. But Scripture never teaches healing through invisible energy flows or breath channels—it speaks of faith, prayer, and the power of the Holy Spirit (James 5:14–16).

🌀 Demonic Operation in “Energy” Modalities

Energy Practice

How Demons May Operate

Yoga & Kundalini

Kundalini is often described as a serpent energy—awakening it invites altered states of consciousness, which can open the mind to demonic influence masked as “enlightenment.”

Reiki / Energy Healing

Practitioners often “channel” energy—this can lead to unknowingly inviting spiritual entities to work through them, especially when healing is invoked by spirit guides.

Meditation (New Age)

When people seek to “empty their mind” without anchoring it in Christ, they create a spiritual vacuum. Demons may exploit this to implant lies or impersonate divine guidance.

Divination through Energy Fields

Using pendulums, dowsing, or aura readings opens doors to familiar spirits operating behind seemingly helpful insights.

Meridian Manipulation

Acupuncture and reflexology based on invisible “energy lines” may unwittingly engage spiritual systems rooted in ancient pagan worldviews, not God’s truth.

Ancestral Practices

If your ancestors invoked spiritual forces through energy-based rituals or shamans, demons may have claimed a foothold through generational ties (Exodus 20:5).

📖 Biblical Evidence for Spiritual Counterfeits

  • Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – God warns against divination, spiritism, and occult practices because they are detestable to Him.
  • 1 John 4:1 – "Test the spirits to see whether they are from God."
  • Leviticus 19:31 – "Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them."
  • Acts 16:16–18 – A girl with a spirit of divination seemed helpful—but Paul discerned and cast the spirit out.
  • 2 Corinthians 11:14 – "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light."

🧠 How It Often Feels or Appears

  • People may feel energized or emotionally elevated at first.
  • “Intuitive messages” may seem accurate or loving—but slowly pull one away from biblical truth.
  • Practitioners sometimes experience sensations, voices, or dreams that appear spiritual but contradict Scripture.
  • Over time, individuals may struggle with anxiety, confusion, or resistance to prayer and God’s Word—these are possible signs of spiritual entanglement.

✝️ The Good News

Jesus Christ is the ultimate authority over all spiritual powers (Colossians 2:15). Through repentance, renouncing former practices, and inviting the Holy Spirit in, believers can be delivered from any influence that entered through these energy systems.

If you’d like, I can help you walk through a prayer of renunciation, or we can explore signs of deliverance and spiritual cleansing. You’re never alone in this—truth sets us free (John 8:32).

🧿 Intelligence Behind the Energy?

These energies are often said to “have a mind of their own” or “guide the practitioner.” If energy possesses intellect and autonomy, it’s not simply a natural force—it’s spiritual. And if it acts independently, enters people, or grants psychic abilities, we must ask: What is its true origin?

God never relinquishes control to spiritual forces apart from Himself. In contrast, the New Age invites people to harness “spiritual energy” by entering altered states of consciousness, surrendering control, and even channeling spirits. This is what the Bible calls divination, sorcery, and communion with familiar spirits (Deuteronomy 18:10–12, Leviticus 20:6).

Different Types of Energies and Culture

Prana – Origin: Hinduism (India)

• Vital life force connected to breath and practiced through yoga and pranayama.

Kundalini – Origin: Hindu Tantra (India)

• Serpent energy coiled at the spine, awakened through spiritual practices for enlightenment.

Chi / Qi – Origin: Taoism (China)

• Life energy flowing through the body along meridians; basis for acupuncture and Tai Chi.

Ki – Origin: Japanese Buddhism/Shinto

• Similar to Chi; used in Reiki to channel healing through hands.

Mana – Origin: Polynesian Spirituality

• Spiritual force used by shamans (Kahunas) for healing, rituals, and magic.

Orgone – Origin: Western Occultism / Wilhelm Reich

• Hypothetical cosmic energy associated with emotional and physical well-being.

Vital Force – Origin: Homeopathy (Europe, 18th century)

• Subtle energy regulating health; imbalance believed to cause disease.

Animal Magnetism – Origin: Franz Mesmer (18th c. Europe)

• Invisible natural force believed to flow through all living things.

Etheric Energy – Origin: Occult / Theosophy

• An energy body around humans said to interact with spiritual planes.

Innate Intelligence – Origin: Chiropractic (USA)

• The body’s internal wisdom governing health, especially via the spine.

⚠️ Generational and Personal Consequences

If you or your ancestors engaged in these practices—even unknowingly—you may have unknowingly opened spiritual doors. Demonic oppression can manifest through:

  • Persistent sickness or mental torment
  • Sudden personality changes or psychic abilities
  • Resistance to prayer or the Word of God
  • Compulsive behavior or fear

Exodus 20:5 warns that the iniquity of ancestors can affect generations unless repented and renounced through Jesus Christ.

🕊️ The True Source of Healing

God’s Word tells us the Holy Spirit—not “chi,” “prana,” or “kundalini”—brings life (Romans 8:11). Jesus healed through spoken word, touch, and compassion—not by tapping into cosmic energy.

When believers seek healing outside the covenant of Christ, they may unwittingly rely on counterfeit spiritual sources. These may seem to help for a time but can bring spiritual entanglement and distance from God.

Jesus said: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). His healing is whole, holy, and free of spiritual deception.

Ways to Discern the Good and Evil Modalities

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

What is the purpose of the modality and why is it used?

🛡️ What Should Christians Do?

  1. Repent – Turn from all occult and New Age practices. Renounce them aloud in prayer.
  2. Break generational ties – Pray in the name of Jesus to cut any inherited spiritual attachments.
  3. Remove items – Discard symbols, books, charms, or tools associated with these beliefs.
  4. Seek deliverance – Find a trusted, biblically grounded prayer team to walk you through healing.
  5. Renew your mind – Saturate your spirit with Scripture and Holy Spirit-led teaching.

📖 Key Scriptures

  • 2 Corinthians 11:14 – “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
  • Leviticus 19:31 – “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.”
  • Deuteronomy 18:10–12 – Warning against divination, sorcery, omens, and spirit contact.
  • 1 John 4:1 – “Test the spirits to see whether they are from God…”
  • Acts 19:18–20 – New believers publicly burned occult books to sever spiritual ties.
  • Matthew 6:22–23 – “If the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”

Video Script

Many people turn to practices like yoga, acupuncture, or energy healing without ever asking—where do these powers come from? They may feel good, even spiritual, but that doesn't mean they're from God.

The Bible warns us not to dabble in spiritism, sorcery, or divination (Deuteronomy 18:10–12). These so-called 'universal energies'—like chi, prana, or kundalini—come from spiritual systems rooted in false gods.

Real healing doesn’t come from energy flows or altered states. It comes through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Scripture says, ‘By His stripes we are healed’ (Isaiah 53:5). God wants us healed, whole, and free—but only through Him.

If you’ve practiced these things—or if your family has—you can break those ties. Repent, renounce, and invite the Holy Spirit to restore your life. True power is not found in energy—it’s found in the name of Jesus.

Are Crystals Against Christianity?

What Do People Believe About Crystals?

healing crystals are demonic

In New Age belief systems, crystals are said to absorb negative energy or channel positive energy. They are often placed on chakras (energy points in the body) to "balance energy" or promote healing. Some even claim these stones “raise your vibration” or “align your aura.” They’re cleansed in salt water to “remove negative energy.”

Watch the video

But these are not just harmless practices—they are spiritual counterfeits.

Crystals are a billion-dollar industry, and many who seek spiritual or emotional healing unknowingly open doors to the demonic realm through their use.

Crystals and Their Occult Origins

Throughout history, cultures steeped in mysticism—like Egyptian, Indian, and Native American paganism—used crystals in shamanism, witchcraft, and spiritual ceremonies. In these traditions, stones served as mediums for spirit communication and healing. The modern crystal movement is simply a revival of ancient pagan practices.

The Silicon Valley of Sorcery has repackaged this mysticism under science and “natural healing,” but it’s still rooted in occult powers. No matter how beautiful the stones may be, using them to access spiritual knowledge or healing is idolatry and rebellion against God.

Biblical Examples Misused by the New Age

Some point to the priestly breastplate in Exodus 28, which contained twelve gemstones, claiming that validates crystal healing. However, that breastplate was not used for energy work or self-healing. It was commanded by God for specific Levitical priesthood purposes—not personal divination.

In fact, Satan himself was adorned with precious stones (Ezekiel 28:13-14), not to glorify God but as part of his exalted status before his fall. Crystals in heaven (Revelation 4:6; 21:11; 22:1) are part of God’s created beauty, not tools for spiritual manipulation.

Using God’s creation for unbiblical purposes—especially to channel energy or “receive guidance”—is an act of spiritual rebellion.

Crystals and Astrology

Many stones are linked with astrology—another forbidden practice. For instance:

  • Amethyst (linked to Pisces) is used to open the “third eye.”

  • Obsidian (linked to Scorpio) is said to awaken spiritual power.

  • Malachite is even described in occult books as speaking as a sentient being, claiming: “I am the dragon... the dense... the wheel... the mask of blackness.” (Katrina Raphaell, Crystal Enlightenment)

These quotes aren’t poetic metaphors—they reflect spiritual beings behind these practices. Crystals don’t have power themselves—they are doorways to the spirit realm. And Christians are warned never to open those doors.

“There shall not be found among you... one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens... For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.” —Deuteronomy 18:10-12

The Truth About Crystal Healing

While many people claim to feel warmth, tingling, or peace during crystal use, these are not the Holy Spirit’s manifestations. They are counterfeit feelings caused by familiar spirits—demons that pose as healers but only bind the soul deeper into bondage.

Deliverance ministers often find that people involved in crystal healing suffer from:

  • Spiritual confusion and deception

  • Tormenting dreams and mental fog

  • Physical ailments without medical cause

  • Apathy or hostility toward the true Gospel

“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” —2 Corinthians 11:14

The Only True Healer Is Jesus Christ

Unlike crystals, which require “cleansing” and rituals, the healing that comes from Jesus Christ is free, pure, and eternal. When we repent and trust in Him alone, He sets us free from every demonic bondage.

“He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.” —1 Peter 2:24

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” —John 8:36

No amulet, crystal, or metaphysical tool is necessary when we are filled with the Holy Spirit and walking in obedience to God’s Word.

Final Warning

If you have ever used crystals for spiritual purposes—whether through New Age healing, astrology, or chakra work—you need to repent and renounce it. Ask the Lord to forgive you and to close every demonic portal opened through these practices.

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” —Ephesians 5:11

Prayer of Renunciation

“Father, in the name of Jesus, I repent for using crystals for any spiritual or healing purposes. I renounce all ties to the New Age, the occult, and divination. I break all demonic influence attached to these practices. I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind, soul, and body. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, and guide me in Your truth. In Jesus' name, amen.”

Applied Kinesiology Debunked

What Christians Need to Know About Applied Kinesiology

What Christians Need to Know About Applied Kinesiology

We perish from lack of knowledge - not reading God's Word and Discerning HIs Truth

The Truth About Kinesiology: A Christian Exposé

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God…” — 1 John 4:1

Applied Kinesiology (AK), also known as muscle testing, was founded in 1963 by chiropractor George Goodheart, who mixed chiropractic care with Eastern occult practices, including meridian energy mapping, nutrition, and energy balancing. While this may sound scientific or harmless, the practice is anything but biblical.

Goodheart’s methodology is based on diagnosing disease or imbalance by evaluating how a person’s muscles respond to applied pressure—especially when a substance like food or supplements is held in hand. The theory suggests that the body can “sense” whether a product is good or harmful based on energy fields and that muscle strength or weakness reflects that energy.

But this concept is not scientifically supported. Worse, it is rooted in Eastern mysticism, not in medical or biblical truth.

What Really Happens in a Kinesiology Session?

In an AK session, the practitioner will have the person extend one arm while holding an item in the opposite hand. The practitioner presses down on the extended arm and watches for weakness or resistance. If the arm weakens, it supposedly indicates a bad reaction to the object—if it resists, the substance is considered beneficial.

This method is based on the idea that energy or “chi” (also called "qi") flows through the body and can be manipulated. Practitioners often refer to Chinese meridians, the same concept used in acupuncture and other Eastern practices. They believe that muscle imbalances can be corrected by balancing this chi energy.

Yet Scripture warns us:

“You shall have no other gods before Me.” — Exodus 20:3
“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.” — 1 Timothy 4:7

Kinesiology blends diagnosis, treatment, and divination, often with the practitioner acting as a spiritual intermediary. This opens the door to deception, confusion, and ultimately demonic influence.

Why Is Kinesiology Dangerous for Christians?

1. Unbiblical Energy Concepts

Kinesiology promotes belief in cosmic energy or life force—often labeled as “chi” or “prana.” These concepts are not found in the Bible but are foundational to Eastern mysticism and occultism.

“For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” — 2 Corinthians 11:14

When practitioners claim to move or balance this energy, they are engaging in spiritual manipulation without the Holy Spirit. Scripture gives no support for invisible “life forces” that respond to touch, food, or energy fields.

2. Divination-Like Practices

Holding objects and muscle testing to “sense” good or bad energy mimics divination—a practice God strictly forbids:

“There shall not be found among you...a diviner, a soothsayer...or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.” — Deuteronomy 18:10–12

Much like pendulum reading, crystal dowsing, or using a Ouija board, kinesiology substitutes human intuition and energy reading for God’s divine wisdom and healing power.

3. False Diagnosis and Misleading “Healing”

Muscle testing is subjective and unscientific. It gives false confidence in “diagnoses” based on pseudoscientific techniques that have no real physiological basis. Even worse, it distracts people from true physical healing and spiritual deliverance through Jesus Christ.

“I am the Lord who heals you.” — Exodus 15:26
“He sent out His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.” — Psalm 107:20

God's healing never involves hidden energy fields or subjective muscle tests. Healing from God comes through faith, prayer, repentance, and divine intervention, not unproven energetic testing.

4. Absorption of “Energy” by Touch?

One of the most absurd claims in kinesiology is that merely touching a substance allows the body to “sense” its energy—even without ingestion. But if that were true, wouldn’t we all fall ill from simply touching toxic items in daily life like cleaners, paints, or medications?

The Bible calls us to reason and discernment, not superstition:

“Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21–22

Kinesiology Is Not Harmless—It Is a Gateway

Like Reiki, crystal healing, and other energy-based systems, applied kinesiology is a backdoor into spiritual deception. Christians must understand that anything involving energy fields, muscle manipulation for spiritual insight, or Eastern healing philosophies is incompatible with biblical truth.

These are spiritual counterfeits—forms of occult practice dressed up in scientific language.

How Should Christians Respond?

If you’ve practiced kinesiology, had someone perform muscle testing on you, or even have generational ties to it, you should:

  1. Repent for engaging in occult practice (knowingly or unknowingly).

  2. Renounce any spirits that may have entered through these rituals.

  3. Break soul ties with any practitioners involved.

  4. Plead the blood of Jesus over your body and spirit for cleansing.

  5. Seek deliverance prayer from a trusted, Spirit-filled minister.

“And do not give the devil a foothold.” — Ephesians 4:27
“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too.” — 1 Corinthians 10:21

✝️ Prayer of Repentance & Deliverance:

“Father God, I repent for engaging in any form of kinesiology, muscle testing, or energy healing. I renounce every occult connection, every false diagnosis, and every belief in energy fields that are not of You. I break agreement with every lying spirit, every spirit of divination, and every New Age deception. I command every unclean spirit to leave me now in Jesus’ name. I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind, my body, and my spirit. Lord, heal me fully and align me with Your truth alone. Amen.”

Reiki Healing: A Demonic Counterfeit to Biblical Healin

Reiki Healing Exposed: Demonic Energy Disguised as Light

Reiki, an energy healing practice birthed in Japan, is sweeping across Western culture and even creeping into churches under the disguise of “natural healing” or “Christian energy.” But Christians must ask: is Reiki biblical, or is it a demonic counterfeit meant to mimic God’s power and deceive even the elect?

The Pagan Roots of Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning “universal life energy.” It is a spiritual healing technique founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, who allegedly discovered the method during a 21-day fast and meditation session atop a mountain in Japan in the early 20th century. Contrary to what some claim, Dr. Usui was not a Christian, but a student of Buddhist and Hindu esoteric teachings, particularly drawn to Sanskrit sutras, which are occult Hindu scriptures.

Usui’s spiritual breakthrough came not through the Holy Spirit or God's Word, but after he was struck by a mysterious ball of light and received knowledge of healing symbols during an altered state of consciousness. This supernatural event did not come from God—it mirrors occult initiation rituals, which often involve seeking hidden knowledge through mystical experiences.

“For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” — 2 Corinthians 11:14

What Is Reiki and How Does It Work?

Reiki is often described as a “laying on of hands” technique, similar to biblical healing. But the source is the key difference. Reiki practitioners claim to tap into universal life energy (also called ki, chi, or prana) through the crown chakra, flowing it through the hands to the recipient. This mimics the Holy Spirit, but it is not from God. It involves chakra alignment, attunement initiations, symbols, and spoken words—all of which originate from New Age occult practices and eastern mysticism.

Reiki teachers admit they don’t know how it works, but that it “opens channels” and “activates energy centers” that allow energy to be drawn to heal the body. These “energy centers” are chakras—a Hindu and Buddhist belief system that has no place in biblical Christianity.

“They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger.” — Deuteronomy 32:16

Reiki and Demonic Manifestation

Engaging in Reiki, whether as a practitioner or a receiver, is a violation of God’s commandments and opens spiritual doors. Why? Because it’s a form of divination and necromancy—manipulating unseen forces not authorized by God. These forces are not neutral—they are demonic.

Many who’ve undergone Reiki attunements or treatments experience spiritual oppression, nightmares, sickness, confusion, tormenting thoughts, and severed intimacy with God. In deliverance sessions, we often minister to people who’ve unknowingly allowed demons into their lives through Reiki or inherited spiritual strongholds because of ancestors involved in such practices.

“There shall not be found among you... one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer...” — Deuteronomy 18:10

Reiki’s Hidden Initiation: An Occult Covenant

To become a Reiki practitioner, one must undergo an attunement or initiation process by a Reiki Master. During this process, symbols are drawn, words are chanted, and energy centers are opened. This is not simply a healing method—it’s a spiritual initiation into a belief system that contradicts the Word of God.

The process aligns with pagan initiations found in witchcraft and the occult, not with the biblical laying on of hands by anointed ministers of God.

“Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.” — 1 Timothy 5:22

Common Problems After Reiki Exposure:

1. Emotional instability and anxiety
2. Chronic fatigue and illness
3. Nightmares, sleep paralysis, and seeing shadow figures
4. Sudden resistance to prayer, Bible reading, or church attendance
5. Family curses or generational patterns of spiritual bondage

If your ancestors participated in Reiki or any other energy healing or occult practice, you could be under a generational curse (Exodus 20:5). These curses can continue until they are renounced and broken in Jesus’ name.

Jesus Christ: The Only True Healer

Jesus didn’t manipulate energy, chant symbols, or open chakras. He healed by the power of the Holy Spirit, not by channeling universal energy.

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil...” — Acts 10:38

God does not share His glory with pagan idols or spiritual counterfeits. Healing comes only through the blood of Jesus Christ, not through energy manipulation. Christians must renounce Reiki, repent for any involvement, and seek deliverance from its influence.

How to Be Set Free

If you or your ancestors participated in Reiki, you can be free! Pray this aloud:

Prayer of Repentance and Renunciation:

“Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ. I repent for participating in Reiki or receiving Reiki healing. I renounce this practice and all of its symbols, initiations, and demonic influences. I break every generational curse related to Reiki and energy healing in my bloodline. I command every unclean spirit that entered through this door to leave me now in Jesus' name. I apply the blood of Jesus to my spirit, soul, and body. Fill me, Holy Spirit, with Your truth and power. Amen.”

Final Warning and Call to Action

Dear believer, do not be deceived by the New Age trap of Reiki. No matter how loving or harmless it seems, its source is demonic. Reiki is a counterfeit healing that invites spiritual bondage. Choose the only true Healer—Jesus Christ.

🔥 Ready to Break Free?

If you've participated in any form of occult practice, even unknowingly, or stuck in sin and cannot break free such as any type of addiction? There is hope. Jesus Christ is ready to forgive, cleanse, and deliver. Repent, renounce the practice, and seek healing.

Labrinth History

Enter the Labyrinth: Discover the History and Spiritual Dangers

Enter the Labyrinth: Discover the History and Spiritual Dangers

Is the labyrinth godly or not?

Labyrinth walking has gained popularity across churches, retreat centers, and spiritual communities. Marketed as a peaceful, healing, and meditative practice, many believers have unknowingly stepped into a ritual deeply rooted in paganism, mysticism, and ancient goddess worship. The question we must ask is: Does this align with God’s Word? The answer, backed by Scripture and history, is a resounding no.

Though labyrinths are often promoted as neutral spiritual tools to quiet the mind, the origins tell a different story. Labyrinths have been traced back over 3,500 years to ancient pagan societies. Carvings, tablets, and stone designs have been found across Egypt, Greece, Spain, Crete, India, North and South America, and Scandinavia, long before Christianity ever used them. From their earliest uses, labyrinths were spiritual symbols connected to earth worship, goddess veneration, fertility rites, and rituals designed to alter consciousness and invoke spiritual experiences.

The labyrinth of Knossos in Crete, tied to the myth of the half-man, half-bull Minotaur, is one of the earliest known. The Minotaur dwelled within a complex maze where human sacrifices were offered. Theseus, the hero who killed the beast, navigated the maze with a thread. The term “labyrinth” derives from “labrys,” the double-headed axe associated with the goddess cults of Minoan Crete—fertility, sacrifice, and occultism.

This history is not innocent architecture—it is spiritual. These designs were created for ritualistic journeys to encounter divine feminine energy, ancestral spirits, or supernatural revelations. Many indigenous cultures even today use labyrinths or maze-like forms in their sacred ceremonies.

Labyrinths did eventually make their way into medieval Catholic cathedrals, especially during the Crusades. Christians who couldn’t make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem were offered a symbolic journey on the cathedral labyrinth floor, such as the 40-foot-wide one at Chartres Cathedral in France. This was a replacement ritual and not biblical in origin, but rather a Catholic tradition, mingled with ancient mysticism. It was dubbed “New Jerusalem”—but nowhere in Scripture does God instruct believers to imitate Jerusalem or recreate the Holy Land through symbols or mystical journeys.

We are warned in Deuteronomy 12:30-31 (KJV):

“Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them... and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? Even so will I do likewise.”

Yet today, many Christian institutions, even mainline churches, incorporate labyrinth walking into spiritual retreats. They describe it as “a journey inward,” or “a tool to connect with the divine self.” These are New Age terms, not biblical ones. Some labyrinth guides instruct people to empty their minds, meditate deeply, or listen to the “voice within.” But the Bible warns us not to empty our minds—this creates space for demonic entities to influence or possess.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) warns:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

Labyrinth walking, much like yoga, reiki, and contemplative prayer, often results in demonic manifestations. Many report altered states of consciousness, energy surges, visitations from "guides," and overwhelming emotional releases. These are not Holy Spirit-led experiences, but counterfeits. By participating in rituals with pagan roots—even unknowingly—people can open demonic portals.

If you or your ancestors have walked labyrinths or participated in these “sacred geometry” rituals, you may be facing spiritual consequences: confusion, depression, recurring illness, torment in dreams, or a sense of spiritual blockage.

Isaiah 2:6 (KJV) says:

“Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people... because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines.”

The labyrinth is a tool from the East, with roots in Eastern mysticism and pagan spirituality. Modern practitioners, including “Christian labyrinth facilitators,” may not realize they’re leading people into spiritual danger, but ignorance does not remove the consequences. God calls His people to be holy and set apart—not to blend in with the world’s mystical practices.

Jesus said in John 14:6 (KJV):

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

You don’t need a twisting maze to reach God. You need the blood of Jesus Christ, the Word of God, and a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. There is no shortcut through ancient symbols or rituals. The labyrinth is a counterfeit, subtly drawing God’s people into deception and spiritual compromise.

So, if labyrinths and similar rituals originated from non-Christian religions and cultures—often rooted in paganism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and New Age mysticism—what value could they possibly hold for followers of Jesus Christ? The Word of God declares that all we need for spiritual life, growth, and healing is found in Jesus alone.

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him…”
—2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)

Labyrinths, mandalas, and similar practices have no spiritual value for a Christian—in fact, they can be spiritually harmful, opening doors to demonic influence.

🌀 From Labyrinths to Mandalas: Pagan Roots and Occult Symbolism

Modern labyrinth designs are often stylized to reflect spiritual practice and symbolic meaning. Their circular layouts closely resemble the mandalas of South Asian Buddhism and Hinduism—spiritual symbols used for meditation. A mandala, which means “circle,” is designed to focus the mind during meditation, bringing about altered states of consciousness. This practice of silencing the brain to “discover deeper truths” is rooted in Eastern mysticism—not biblical Christianity.

Such methods are condemned by Scripture. God never asks us to empty our minds or seek inner enlightenment through physical patterns or rituals. Instead, we are told:

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.”
—Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

God tells us to focus our minds on Him and His Word, not on shapes, circles, or mystical paths.

🏛 The New Age Movement and the Revival of the Labyrinth

Labyrinth use has grown exponentially, with over 1,000 labyrinths constructed across the U.S., including projects affiliated with Grace Cathedral (San Francisco), St. Louis, and Episcopal churches across the country.

The foremost proponents of modern labyrinth revival are not Christians at all—but outspoken New Age leaders like Dr. Jean Houston and Rev. Lauren Artress. Dr. Houston, known for her New Age advocacy, endorsed channeled writings such as The Starseed Transmissions, calling them profound examples of divine communication from spirit entities.

Houston states, “The best way to contact these entities is within the context of an altered state of consciousness.” This is a direct violation of God’s Word, which strictly forbids communication with spirits or the dead (Deuteronomy 18:10–12).

After connecting with Houston, Rev. Lauren Artress introduced the labyrinth to Grace Cathedral in 1992. Since then, over one million people—from Christians to Buddhists to spiritual seekers—have walked that path in pursuit of "inner peace." Artress claims labyrinths create “spiritual transformation,” where people can reconnect with “the depths of their souls.” But there is no transformation apart from Jesus Christ.

🧠 Altering Consciousness Through Movement

Labyrinth walking is often described in psychological terms. It is said to engage the right and left brain through 180-degree directional turns, causing a mental shift—similar to trance induction. Artress herself describes the labyrinth as a spiritual and psychological tool, an “archetype of wholeness” to awaken self-discovery.

Further claims tie labyrinth use to balancing chakras—a Hindu concept of spiritual energy centers. This reveals that the true purpose of the labyrinth is not prayer or reflection as taught in Scripture, but to produce a shift in consciousness, mystical awareness, and connection to “divine energy.”

Yet the Bible says:

“Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
—Romans 12:2 (KJV)

Transformation comes through the Word of God, not through pagan rituals, energy balancing, or right-brain manipulation.

🌀 A Personalized Religion: Subjective “Spirituality”

Rev. Artress writes:

“We are not human beings on a spiritual path, but spiritual beings on a human path.”

This is a hallmark New Age statement—rejecting biblical creation, sin, and redemption. Instead of focusing on Christ, this philosophy teaches self-enlightenment, subjective experience, and relativism. Labyrinth walkers are encouraged to interpret their journey however they wish—some use it for prayer, others for healing, self-reflection, or connecting with “the divine within.”

But Christianity is not a choose-your-own-path faith. Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6), and the Holy Spirit does not lead us into foreign spiritual practices. Many testimonies from labyrinth participants include altered emotions, “spiritual awakenings,” visions, or energy shifts—clear signs of spiritual manipulation that can open the door to demonic oppression.

🔥 Spiritual Danger and Demonic Openings

Labyrinth use is often grouped with other mystical practices like sacred circle dances, smudging ceremonies, and sweet-grass rituals—all of which have roots in occultism or Native pagan spirituality. R. White noted that walking the labyrinth can cause the arousal of feelings, renewed creativity, “brain re-mapping,” and energy surges. These experiences may sound appealing—but they do not come from the Holy Spirit.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God…”
—1 John 4:1 (KJV)

When Christians pursue experiences over biblical truth, they risk opening themselves up to deception, confusion, or worse—demonic attachment.

The modern promotion of labyrinths, often described as peaceful, spiritual tools, is deeply entangled in a dangerous mix of pagan rituals, goddess worship, and New Age deception. While some churches today endorse labyrinth walking as a form of prayer or meditation, what’s truly happening is a global revival of ancient mystical practices—a counterfeit spirituality that leads people away from the gospel of Jesus Christ.

A quote from Colleen O’Connor’s Theater of Enlightenment summarizes the deceptive allure of this spiritual trend:

“Nature, and a sense of place—the Theater of Enlightenment is rich with these three elements, which experts say are essential to global transformation in the 21st century.”

This “global transformation” is the heartbeat of the New Age movement—and labyrinths are at its center.

🌀 What Are Labyrinths Really Used For?

According to Rev. Sarah Bentley of the New Life Institute, affiliated with Austin-area United Methodist churches, labyrinths are introduced as tools for walking meditation. In her words, they are meant to quiet the mind and create space for answers, emotions, and healing. But what kind of spirit answers when a mind is emptied?

Eastern meditation, like labyrinth walking, is not about focusing on God, but about entering altered states of consciousness. This is not the biblical form of meditating on God's Word (Psalm 1:2), but a doorway to spiritual deception.

Participants are often encouraged to ask personal life questions—such as "Where am I going?" or "What should I do?"—and then wait for answers during their labyrinth walk. Many testify that they hear voices, see visions, feel energies, or receive messages from "God," "angels," or even "deities." These are not the Holy Spirit, but familiar spirits masquerading as light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

🌌 Testimonies of Spiritual Experiences: Supernatural or Demonic?

In Theater of Enlightenment, one woman claimed that two reiki bodyworkers came to her aid after she was injured walking a labyrinth. She said, “I actually experienced the pain moving right out of my body. It was a phenomenal experience.” Reiki, a known New Age healing modality, invites spirit guides and energy forces—not Jesus—to heal. This confirms that these walks are spiritual but not godly.

Another testimony came from Renee Gibbons, who said she received a message in the labyrinth to “send an angel to your sister Fiona.” She followed the prompting and said her bitterness lifted. While forgiveness is biblical, the method she used to hear from a spirit realm is not. God does not speak through pagan rituals or altered states, but through His Word and His Spirit (Hebrews 1:1–2).

Artress and other leaders even suggest asking your “deity of choice” or “higher self” to walk with you. These subjective experiences can lead people to think they’ve found a spiritual truth when in reality, they’re connecting to a false god or counterfeit spirit.

🔮 The Divine Mother, Goddess, and the “God Within”

Rev. Lauren Artress, the leading promoter of labyrinth walking, admits its roots in goddess worship. In her book Walking a Sacred Path, she writes that the labyrinth is a symbol of the Divine Mother, the God within, and the goddess in all creation. She claims this tool helps people rediscover the “holy in all of creation” and the feminine aspect of the divine.

This is paganism cloaked in spiritual language. The Bible makes it clear:

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
—1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)

There is no such thing as a divine feminine or a “goddess within.” That belief system is straight from Babylonian mystery religions and revived today through the New Age.

🕯 Veriditas and Sacred Geometry: New Age Goals Revealed

In 1996, Artress founded Veriditas, a non-profit that exists to teach labyrinth walking and its supposed healing powers. She promotes labyrinths as a way to reconnect with the universe and “awaken the Light within.”

But Veriditas’ teachings go further. Their supporters link labyrinth design to geomancy, astrology, numerology, I Ching, rune stones, and tarot cards—all practices condemned in the Bible (Deuteronomy 18:10–12). Promoter Charles Gilchrist openly states that labyrinths are based in Sacred Geometry—the same occult framework that undergirds New Age energy work and divination.

In other words, walking a labyrinth is like stepping into a ritualized oracle meant to receive messages from the spirit world. That spirit world is not the Holy Spirit.

🏛 Labyrinths in Churches: A Christian Disguise for Pagan Practice

Many Christians believe that if the labyrinth is used in a church and Scripture is read, the practice becomes sanctified. But putting a cross in the center of a pagan symbol doesn’t make it Christian.

Leadership Magazine once showcased how a Christian church recreated a labyrinth and used communion elements at its center. Dan Kimball wrote, “It was a joy to see so many people on their knees communing with God…” But no ritual—especially one with pagan roots—can sanctify a person. Only the blood of Jesus cleanses us.

🌍 The New Age Agenda: One World Spirituality

Artress and Veriditas promote labyrinths as tools for global spiritual unity. She hopes that labyrinths will bridge humanity’s “prejudices and fears,” leading to peace and a return to “original innocence.” This language aligns perfectly with the New Age goal of global transformation—a one-world spirituality apart from the cross of Jesus Christ.

Even if these goals sound noble, they are false paths. There is no shortcut to peace or healing without repentance, faith in Christ, and obedience to His Word.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate… because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
—Matthew 7:13–14 (KJV)

Marian Idolatry, Divine Feminine, and the New Age Invasion of the Church

In 1999, The Reverend Canon Lauren Artress launched Let Us Walk With Mary, a spiritually charged program for pilgrims at Chartres Cathedral in France—the only cathedral built in full dedication to the Virgin Mary. This program combined labyrinth walking with Marian veneration, further deepening the occult roots of the labyrinth movement and its connection to divine feminine spirituality.

Prominent figures connected to labyrinth promotion include China Galland, a longtime student of both Buddhism and Christianity and author of Tara and the Black Madonna and Women in the Wilderness. Also involved was The Very Rev. Alan Jones, Dean of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and a leading voice in mystic spirituality and interfaith unity.

While cloaked in Christian language, what was unfolding was not Christianity at all—it was the open integration of goddess worship, mystical ritual, and Eastern meditative practices into the Western church.

🕯 What Is the Real Message Behind the Labyrinth?

According to Artress, the labyrinth provides “a sacred space where the inner and outer world can commune, where the thinking mind and the imaginative heart flow together.” She promotes it as a spiritual discipline to walk through life’s emotions—grief, confusion, fear, anger—seeking healing and transformation.

But here’s the danger: none of this is biblical.

Christ already offers transformation through the cross, not through a ritual walk. He does not instruct us to find sacred space in circles or paths but calls us into a relationship through the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and prayer.

This form of religious syncretism—blending Christianity with paganism—leads many into spiritual confusion. A walk with Christ requires separation from worldly practices (2 Corinthians 6:14–17), not joining them under a new label.

🌑 Paganism and the Divine Feminine

Starhawk, a well-known practicing witch and feminist spiritual leader, celebrated New Year 2000 by walking the labyrinth on her own ranch. That’s not a coincidence—it’s proof of the labyrinth’s deep ties to Wiccan and pagan traditions.

Artress herself affirms this connection, writing:

“To walk a sacred path is to discover our inner sacred space... through symbols, archetypal forms like the labyrinth, rituals, stories, and myths.”

This language is New Age mysticism, not Christianity. It echoes teachings of goddess worship, sacred geometry, and divine feminine energies—all rooted in Babylonian religion and occult practices.

Artress even suggests that Christians come to the labyrinth when their prayer life fails or feels dry. She encourages writing a letter to “God,” but the seeker is not being led to the God of the Bible, but to a spiritual experience disconnected from scripture.

📖 God’s Response to Pagan Spiritual Tools

The Bible is clear:

“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” —Colossians 2:8 (KJV)

Labyrinth walking may feel peaceful or even sacred, but that does not make it godly. Feelings and altered states of consciousness are not how we measure truth. We must test every practice and spirit by the Word of God (1 John 4:1).

Artress promotes the labyrinth as a “forgiving path,” but the Bible teaches that only Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). You cannot walk a circular path to salvation or to the heart of God.

🚨 Warning Against Christian Compromise

Churches now adopting labyrinth walks, contemplative prayer, or “experiential worship” led by figures like Thomas Merton, Thomas Keating, and Richard Foster are opening doors to unbiblical spiritual practices. These contemplative methods borrow from Eastern mysticism and Catholic mystics, and are being wrapped in Christian terminology to gain acceptance.

But did Jesus ever walk a labyrinth? Did the apostles instruct us to build circular paths of stone for prayer?

Absolutely not.

Jesus told us to “go into your closet and pray to your Father who is in secret” (Matthew 6:6). He gave us His Word—66 books of divine revelation—not a circular path to center ourselves. The idea that the Bible is insufficient and we need these mystical tools shows a deep deception and falling away from truth.

💣 The Real Goal: New Age Global Transformation

Inclusiveness and unity are the goals of the New Age movement. Artress and her nonprofit Veriditas have publicly declared their mission to promote labyrinths for spiritual renewal and global transformation.

Her own words in Walking a Sacred Path say it plainly:

“The labyrinth is a tool for transformation, a blueprint for sacred ritual, a field of light, a cosmic dance.”

And in one interview, Artress responded to accusations of her being “New Age” by dismissing it, saying:

“Better call it ‘Middle Age’—the labyrinth was put in Chartres Cathedral in 1201!”

What she fails to mention is that many Catholic cathedrals in the Middle Ages were filled with syncretistic and unbiblical practices, blending paganism with ritualistic Christianity. Just because something has ancient roots doesn’t make it sacred—especially when those roots trace back to divination, goddess worship, and occult energy practices.

🔥 Deliverance Prayer

Heavenly Father, I repent and renounce any involvement I have had with labyrinth walking, contemplative prayer, and New Age spirituality. I break every soul tie and spiritual agreement formed through these rituals, knowingly or unknowingly. I close every portal and command every demonic influence and unclean spirit to leave in Jesus’ name. Cleanse me by Your blood and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
