Psychokinesis: Moving Objects with the Mind or Opening Doors to Demons?

Psychokinesis: Moving Objects with the Mind or Opening Doors to Demons?

Psychokinesis: Moving Objects with the Mind or Opening Doors to Demons?

Introduction

Psychokinesis—also known as telekinesis—is the alleged ability to move or manipulate physical objects using only the power of the mind. Many people are fascinated by it, believing it’s a natural human potential or a “spiritual gift.” Movies, comics, and video games often glorify psychokinetic abilities as heroic or enlightened powers.

But what does the Bible say about this? Is psychokinesis a divine gift or a deception of the enemy? When we look closely, psychokinesis is not a scientific phenomenon or God-given ability. It is rooted in occult practices, fueled by demonic power, and stands in direct opposition to God’s Word.

What Is Psychokinesis?

Psychokinesis (from the Greek psyche, meaning “mind,” and kinesis, meaning “movement”) refers to the supposed ability to move or influence physical matter without physical contact—by the mind alone. This includes bending metal objects, levitating items, or altering dice rolls through concentration.

Modern believers in psychokinesis view it as a demonstration of “energy control” or “mind over matter.” However, no scientific proof exists that humans can generate this kind of power naturally. What does exist is a long record of occult rituals, psychic practices, and demonic manifestations that mimic this phenomenon.

Origins of the Idea

The concept of psychokinesis became popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries during the rise of spiritualism and psychical research. Early mediums like Daniel Dunglas Home and Eusapia Palladino claimed to levitate objects, play instruments, and even float in the air during séances.

Researchers such as J.B. Rhine at Duke University in the 1930s tried to study telekinesis scientifically, but his experiments lacked credible evidence. Most modern cases of psychokinesis are exposed as frauds or involve spiritual manifestations from unseen entities—what Scripture calls “familiar spirits.”

From a biblical view, psychokinesis is not a human mental ability—it’s a supernatural act of demonic power, performed to deceive people into believing they can be “like gods.”

What Are Their Beliefs?

Those who practice or study psychokinesis typically believe that:

  • The mind or consciousness is an energy field capable of influencing matter.

  • Humans possess latent psychic abilities that can be awakened through meditation, willpower, or training.

  • These powers represent spiritual evolution or higher consciousness.

  • Physical laws can be bent or transcended through mental focus.

These beliefs mirror ancient occult philosophies found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and New Age mysticism, where practitioners claim to tap into a “universal energy” or “life force” known as prana, chi, or ki.

However, Scripture makes it clear that power belongs only to God (Psalm 62:11). Any supernatural ability that bypasses God’s authority comes from a counterfeit source—the devil.

Who Is Their God or gods?

The gods of psychokinesis are not the God of the Bible. Those who engage in psychic or telekinetic practices often invoke cosmic energies, spirit guides, or ascended masters—demonic entities posing as enlightened beings.

Exodus 20:3 warns, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” The power behind psychokinesis is not divine—it is demonic. Satan seeks to imitate the works of God by giving people counterfeit abilities that appear spiritual but lead to bondage.

In Acts 8:9–11, Simon the sorcerer amazed people with “great power,” yet he was operating through demonic influence. Similarly, psychokinesis offers false wonder and pride, drawing people away from dependence on the Holy Spirit.

What Is the Purpose of Psychokinesis?

The purpose behind psychokinesis is twofold: self-exaltation and deception. Practitioners seek to prove that man can control reality through his own mind—echoing Satan’s original lie in the Garden of Eden: “Ye shall be as gods” (Genesis 3:5).

It is used to:

  • Display supernatural “proof” of spiritual advancement

  • Entice curiosity about hidden powers

  • Demonstrate independence from God

  • Validate occult teachings about energy manipulation

But the ultimate purpose from Satan’s perspective is to open spiritual doors—to invite demonic influence under the illusion of “mental power.”

Why People Get Involved

People become involved with psychokinesis for many reasons:

  • Curiosity about supernatural abilities

  • Desire for control over circumstances or nature

  • Fascination with psychic or paranormal experiences

  • Influence from movies, anime, and occult culture

  • Seeking power, recognition, or spiritual awakening

But behind this curiosity lies a spiritual trap. Once a person experiments with psychic phenomena, demons gain legal access to influence their thoughts and emotions. They can manifest as false power, then torment the person through fear, pride, or obsession.

Is Psychokinesis Divination?

Yes, psychokinesis qualifies as divination, because it involves manipulating or influencing the physical world through supernatural forces outside of God’s will. Deuteronomy 18:10–12 forbids “one who uses divination or an enchanter or a witch or a consulter with familiar spirits.”

While some may argue psychokinesis is scientific or natural, the spiritual reality is that it originates from occult roots. It replaces prayer and faith with mental control and human pride. Anything that attempts to wield spiritual power apart from God’s authority is divination and witchcraft in disguise.

Why Deliverance Is Needed

Anyone who has practiced or pursued psychokinesis needs deliverance and repentance. In attempting to access hidden power, a person opens themselves to demonic control. Signs of oppression may include:

  • Strange movements of objects or poltergeist activity

  • Sudden anger, confusion, or nightmares

  • Pride in supernatural experiences

  • Fear of losing control or spiritual darkness

Deliverance begins with repentance and renunciation:

“Heavenly Father, I repent for seeking psychic power and control through my mind. I renounce the spirit of divination, witchcraft, and pride. I break every agreement made with demonic forces in the name of Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit, fill me with Your peace and truth. Amen.”

True power and peace come only from God through Jesus Christ—not through mental manipulation. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to overcome evil, not to imitate it.

Conclusion

Psychokinesis may seem like harmless curiosity or human potential, but biblically it is a form of occult divination rooted in demonic deception. God forbids His people from engaging in practices that seek supernatural control apart from Him.

No human mind can move matter by its own will—only God commands creation. To seek that power is to fall into the same pride that caused Lucifer’s downfall.

If you’ve experimented with telekinesis or psychic powers, there is hope. Jesus Christ breaks every yoke of deception and offers freedom to all who repent and turn to Him.

The Dark Origins of Ectoplasm: Exposing Spiritual Deception in Séance Culture

The Dark Origins of Ectoplasm: Exposing Spiritual Deception in Séance Culture

The Dark Origins of Ectoplasm: Exposing Spiritual Deception in Séance Culture

Ectoplasm and the Occult: A Biblical Warning for Christians

Ectoplasm—a term that evokes images of ghostly phenomena—was once at the heart of séances and spiritism. Described as a mysterious, viscous substance that allegedly exudes from the bodies of spiritual mediums, ectoplasm was said to enable spirits to materialize and perform physical feats such as levitating tables and manifesting ghostly forms. Though popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the practice of channeling ectoplasm is more than just a relic of spiritualism’s heyday—it is a doorway to demonic deception and spiritual danger.

What is Ectoplasm and Where Did It Come From?

Ectoplasm emerged from the culture of Spiritualism, a religious movement that began in the mid-1800s in America and Europe, particularly with the infamous Fox Sisters of New York. Spiritualism claimed to communicate with the dead through séances, mediums, and spirit guides. Ectoplasm was introduced as "evidence" of spiritual manifestations during séances—often seen as a white or grayish ooze coming from the mouths, noses, or ears of mediums.

One of the most prominent figures promoting ectoplasm was Helen Duncan, a British medium known for dramatic séances in the early 20th century. Investigations later revealed much of her ectoplasm was fake—cheesecloth or paper soaked in egg whites—but the spiritual roots and dangers of the practice remain serious.

The Spirituality Behind Ectoplasm

Spiritualists believed that the dead could communicate with the living and that ectoplasm was a spiritual byproduct of such encounters. The “spirits” involved were not the souls of deceased loved ones, but familiar spirits—demonic entities masquerading as the dead. These spirits required mediums to become open conduits for their work. This practice completely bypasses God and invites spiritual oppression.

The Gods of Spiritualism

Spiritualism promotes a pantheistic and polytheistic worldview. Rather than recognizing the God of the Bible, it venerates the "higher self," spirit guides, and cosmic consciousness. This belief system denies the sovereignty of Jesus Christ and replaces Him with deceptive spirits. The Bible is clear that these are not godly messengers but demonic forces in disguise (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

What the Bible Says About Such Practices

Old Testament Warning:

“Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.” —Leviticus 19:31

“Let no one be found among you... who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft... or who consults the dead.” —Deuteronomy 18:10-11

New Testament Warning:

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons.” —1 Timothy 4:1

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” —Ephesians 5:11

These verses make it abundantly clear: seeking contact with the dead, whether through ectoplasm, mediums, or séances, is an abomination in God’s sight.

Consequences of Involvement

Christians who dabble in séance culture or paranormal activities—whether out of curiosity or grief—risk opening doors to demonic intrusion, torment, nightmares, depression, and spiritual bondage. These spirits don’t just entertain—they deceive, torment, and destroy. What begins as curiosity can end in spiritual oppression that only deliverance through Jesus Christ can break.

Why Christians Must Stay Away

No spiritual gain comes from contacting the dead—only spiritual danger. God has forbidden this not to rob us of comfort, but to protect us from deception. Our hope and connection to the spiritual realm should only come through Jesus Christ, the mediator between God and man—not through dark rituals that invite the enemy.

Conclusion

Ectoplasm and séance culture are not harmless curiosities. They are rooted in occultism and lead to serious spiritual consequences. Christians must recognize the tactics of the enemy and reject any practice that opens doors to the demonic. The Holy Spirit offers true guidance, healing, and comfort—without the counterfeit manifestations of deceptive spirits.
