Ascended Masters Exposed: New Age Deception or Demonic Influence?
The concept of "Ascended Masters" is widely promoted in New Age spirituality, often painted as a positive force guiding humanity toward enlightenment and peace. These so-called masters, including Jesus, Buddha, Saint Germain, and Lady Master Nada, are described as former humans who have reached spiritual ascension through various initiations, now existing in higher realms to assist others in doing the same. But what lies beneath this glowing facade?
The origins of this belief system can be traced back to occult figures such as Madame Helena Blavatsky and her disciple Alice Bailey. Both were key architects of modern Theosophy and introduced the idea that these masters are benevolent spiritual entities guiding human evolution. Blavatsky described them as wise, powerful beings who seek to usher humanity into a utopian era. However, such teachings are highly suspect from a biblical and spiritual discernment perspective.
At its core, the Ascended Master narrative is steeped in deception. It proposes a counterfeit spiritual hierarchy, known as the Great White Brotherhood, composed of supernatural entities masquerading as beings of light. The term “white” here refers not to race, but to the supposed purity of these spirits. Yet, Scripture warns that even Satan masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). This should prompt serious caution.
These so-called masters allegedly operate within a cosmic order and are associated with spiritual retreats, both physical and etheric. Each master is said to embody and transmit a specific energy color tied to different attributes or virtues. For instance, blue is linked with faith, violet with Saint Germain’s New Age teachings, and gold with the materialization of wealth. Such symbolism, while seemingly harmless, diverts individuals from the true source of spiritual life—God—into mystical, occult-based systems.
Another feature of this doctrine is the “Lords of the Seven Rays.” They are categorized based on colored light rays, each representing specific spiritual traits. This division serves to further entrench followers in a belief system that feels structured and divine but, in truth, pulls them away from biblical truth and into a false light.
The danger here is subtle but significant. New Age spirituality doesn't blatantly deny God—it simply redefines Him. It promotes the idea that we are all divine beings trapped in physical forms, capable of reaching godhood through spiritual evolution. This mirrors the original lie told in Eden: “You will be like God” (Genesis 3:5). Rather than seeking salvation through Jesus Christ, followers of Ascended Masters are led to believe they can ascend by their own efforts, rituals, and inner awakening.
Moreover, the inclusion of Jesus among these "masters" is a gross distortion of who He truly is. Jesus is not one enlightened teacher among many; He is the Son of God, the only way to salvation (John 14:6). To place Him in a lineup with other so-called masters diminishes His divinity and distorts the Gospel message entirely.
Many people are drawn to Ascended Master teachings out of a sincere desire for meaning, healing, and truth. But what they often find is spiritual bondage masked as empowerment. These entities are not ascended—they are deceivers, part of a demonic agenda to mislead humanity and draw souls away from the truth of the Gospel.
In conclusion, the teachings surrounding Ascended Masters are not benign spiritual philosophies—they are deeply rooted in occultism and serve as gateways to demonic influence. Their promise of enlightenment and peace is a trap, luring people with flattery and light only to entangle them in spiritual darkness.
Christians and seekers of truth alike must remain vigilant. Not every spiritual experience or doctrine that feels uplifting is from God. Test all spirits (1 John 4:1), and cling to the truth found in Scripture. Spiritual deception is real, and in these last days, it is more alluring than ever.
Methods of discernment:
• Who was the founder of this modality?
• What was his/her spirituality?
• What culture did it come out of?
• What were their beliefs?
• Who is their God or gods?
Many occult practices in Christianity need to be discerned. Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”
