Shiva and Kali: The False Deities of Hinduism

Shiva and Kali: The False Deities of Hinduism – Why Christians Must Reject These Occult Spirits

Shiva and Kali: The False Deities of Hinduism – Why Christians Must Reject These Occult Spirits

Exposing the Spiritual Dangers Behind Hindu Gods, New Age Practices, and Hidden Demonic Gateways

In an age where Eastern spirituality, yoga, mantras, and meditation have been glamorized by Western culture, many Christians unknowingly open themselves to demonic spirits rooted in Hinduism. Among the most commonly invoked deities are Shiva and Kali—two of the most destructive and feared gods within Hindu belief. The Bible gives a clear warning: “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3), yet millions are engaging in spiritual practices that honor these false deities, often without knowing it.

This article exposes the origins of Shiva and Kali, what they represent, why their worship is considered demonic, and why those who have participated in these practices often require deliverance.

Who Are Shiva and Kali?

Shiva — “The Destroyer”

Shiva is one of the primary gods of the Hindu trinity (Trimurti). Known as “The Destroyer,” Shiva represents destruction, death, dissolution, and the cycle of rebirth. He is often depicted with snakes, a third eye, and sitting in deep meditation.

Shiva’s worship includes chanting mantras, yoga postures created to honor him, and entering altered states of consciousness through meditation—states the Bible forbids because they open spiritual gates (1 Peter 5:8).

Kali — “The Black Goddess” of Blood and Death

Kali is a fierce goddess who represents death, chaos, destruction, and blood sacrifice. Her imagery includes skulls, severed heads, and a protruding tongue dripping with blood. She is often invoked during tantric practices, sex magic, and trance rituals.

The Bible condemns all worship of death spirits and idols: “All who make idols are nothing” (Isaiah 44:9) and “They sacrificed to demons, not God” (Deuteronomy 32:17).

Origins, Culture, and Beliefs Behind These Deities

Both Shiva and Kali originate from ancient India, within the religious system of Hinduism, one of the world’s oldest pagan polytheistic religions. Hinduism believes in 330 million gods, reincarnation, karma, and the idea that humans can become divine through ascension—exactly what Satan promised in Genesis 3:5: “You shall be as gods.”

This worldview directly contradicts Scripture:
“For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.” — Psalm 96:5

How People Become Involved With Shiva and Kali

Most involvement is unintentional.
People encounter these demonic spirits through:

  • Yoga practices dedicated to Shiva

  • Meditation mantras invoking Hindu gods

  • New Age energy healing

  • Tantra and kundalini practices

  • Cultural fascination with Hindu art or statues

  • Participating in festivals or rituals

  • Listening to music that contains Sanskrit invocations

When someone uses a mantra, they are calling on a spirit.
When they perform certain yoga poses, they reenact worship postures to Hindu gods.
When they open their consciousness through meditation, they create a spiritual doorway (Ephesians 4:27).

Is Shiva/Kali Worship Divination, Occult, Witchcraft, or New Age?

The practices that honor Shiva and Kali fall under all of the following:

  • New Age spirituality

  • Eastern mysticism

  • Divination (mantras, trance, altered consciousness)

  • Occult practices

  • Witchcraft (energy manipulation, tantra, kundalini)

God forbids every one of these:
“There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination… or who conjures spells.”
— Deuteronomy 18:10–11

What If Someone Used These Practices on You? Remote Influence & Protection

Some New Age practitioners attempt to “send energy,” “activate chakras,” or “awaken kundalini” in others. While a person cannot accidentally be demonized without a legal right, there can be spiritual attack if:

  • You agreed to a session

  • You listened to their recorded meditation

  • You received yoga/energy healing

  • You allowed them to lay hands on you

  • You kept an idol or Hindu object in your home

Protection is simple:
repent, renounce, close the door, and apply the blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11).

Why People Need Deliverance After Involvement With Shiva or Kali

Common signs include:

  • Nightmares of snakes or dark beings

  • Sleep paralysis

  • Energy surges or vibrations

  • Occult dreams

  • Fear, torment, or chaos

  • Sexual attacks

  • Kundalini movements (serpent spirit)

  • Hearing voices during meditation

  • Feeling “pulled” to Eastern spirituality

These spirits mimic the characteristics of the gods they represent: destruction, chaos, confusion, fear, seduction, and deception.

But Jesus came “to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).
