Unmasking Mediumship: Who’s Really Behind the Spirit Voices?

Unmasking Mediumship: Who’s Really Behind the Spirit Voices?

Unmasking Mediumship: Who’s Really Behind the Spirit Voices?

Mind Mediumship – Spirit Communication or a Satanic Counterfeit?

Mind mediumship is a form of psychic activity where individuals claim to communicate with spirits—usually the deceased—through mental impressions, inner voices, or imagery. This may appear harmless or even helpful on the surface, but when we dig into the origins, methods, and belief systems behind this practice, it becomes clear that it is a spiritual counterfeit rooted in the occult.

⚠️ Discernment Questions Every Believer Should Ask:

To test any spiritual practice, 1 John 4:1 tells us: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God…”

Here are key questions to ask:

  • Who was the founder of this modality?
Many modern forms of mind mediumship can be traced back to Emanuel Swedenborg, Allan Kardec, and the Fox Sisters, all of whom were heavily involved in spiritualism and spirit communication that contradicted biblical truths.

  • What was their spirituality?
None of these individuals professed the biblical Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Their spirituality leaned toward New Age, spiritism, and occultism, often mixing Christian terminology to appear authentic.

  • What culture did it come out of?
Mind mediumship gained popularity in 19th-century Western Europe and America, especially during the rise of Spiritualism. It was a reaction to grief after wars and epidemics, where people desperately wanted to speak to lost loved ones.

  • What were their beliefs?
They believed spirits of the dead could give wisdom and guidance. This contradicts Scripture. Ecclesiastes 9:5 tells us, “The dead know nothing.” Consulting the dead is strictly forbidden in Deuteronomy 18:10-12.

  • Who is their God or gods?
Most mediums either acknowledge “the universe,” spirit guides, or higher selves—not the One True God of the Bible. This opens doors to familiar spirits (Leviticus 19:31), which are demonic entities masquerading as benevolent beings.

🎯 What is the Purpose of Mind Mediumship?

Mind mediumship claims to provide emotional healing, closure, or guidance. But it often draws people away from God and the Bible, and toward false spirits and deception. Many who begin seeking messages from the dead end up in deeper occult practices—tarot, pendulums, channeling, or astral projection.

2 Corinthians 11:14 warns us, “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” The enemy uses comfort and curiosity to ensnare.

πŸ›‘️ Biblical Warning and Deliverance

God strictly prohibits speaking with the dead or engaging with spirits outside of the Holy Spirit. These practices grieve God and open spiritual doors to torment, confusion, fear, and control by demonic forces.

If you’ve ever participated in mediumship—whether directly or through a psychic, sΓ©ance, or spirit guide—you must repent, renounce the practice, and break soul ties with any spirit you’ve opened up to.

Mental Suggestion: A Christian Warning Against Manipulative Influence

Mental Suggestion: A Christian Warning Against Manipulative Influence

Mental Suggestion: A Christian Warning Against Manipulative Influence

Mental Suggestion: How the Enemy Hijacks the Mind

Mental suggestion is the process by which one person seeks to influence or control the thoughts, emotions, and behavior of another—often through subtle or subliminal cues. While it may appear harmless or even helpful on the surface, the roots of mental suggestion are deeply embedded in occult philosophies and spiritual manipulation. As believers in Christ, it’s vital to discern the source and spirit behind every practice we encounter. What seems like mere psychology or self-help may actually be a gateway to spiritual bondage.

What Is Mental Suggestion?

Mental suggestion is commonly found in hypnotherapy, New Age healing practices, NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), and even certain coaching or motivational speech techniques. Its goal is to bypass the critical thinking of the mind and plant ideas or behaviors directly into a person’s subconscious. This technique is often cloaked in phrases like “reprogramming the mind,” “influencing behavior,” or “creating new thought patterns.”

While positive thinking and behavior change are not evil in themselves, the method of suggestion often crosses a spiritual boundary that Christians should not ignore.

Origins and Spiritual Foundation

Mental suggestion as a modality did not originate from biblical principles. Instead, it traces back to ancient pagan cultures and occult practices.

  • Founder and Culture: One early developer was Franz Anton Mesmer, an 18th-century German physician who introduced “animal magnetism,” a forerunner of hypnotism. His practices were spiritual in nature, invoking invisible forces to manipulate energy in the body.

  • Spirituality: Mesmer's work was steeped in esoteric mysticism, believing that spiritual energies and universal forces could be controlled by suggestion. He was not a Christian but was aligned with New Age and Gnostic ideas.

  • Beliefs and Deities: Practitioners following his legacy often draw from Hindu, Buddhist, and occult sources, invoking energy gods, spirit guides, or the so-called “universal mind.” In short, the god behind these methods is not the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

This raises a serious concern: when someone uses mental suggestion, whose spirit is operating through them? What are they opening their mind—or your mind—to?

The Dangers of Mental Suggestion

  1. Opens Doors to Control and Manipulation
Mental suggestion is often used by individuals seeking to control others. Whether through hypnosis, guided visualization, or persuasive affirmations, the goal is to override a person’s will. This is a direct violation of God’s gift of free will and often mimics witchcraft—the use of influence to dominate or bend another’s will.

“Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft…” —1 Samuel 15:23

  1. Can Invite Demonic Influence
Because mental suggestion bypasses conscious thought and critical reasoning, it opens the soul to outside influence. When that influence is not the Holy Spirit, another spirit can enter. Many people report anxiety, confusion, fear, or torment after undergoing sessions of mental suggestion or NLP-based therapy.

  2. False Sense of Healing or Peace
Mental suggestion might bring temporary relief from emotional or psychological problems. But the root causes—sin, generational curses, or spiritual oppression—remain untouched. Only Jesus Christ can truly heal the soul.

Biblical Discernment and the Mind

The Bible makes it clear that transformation should come through the renewing of our minds by the Word of God, not by manipulation.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” —Romans 12:2

The Holy Spirit leads gently. Satan, on the other hand, pushes, manipulates, and deceives. Christians are called to be sober and vigilant because the enemy prowls around seeking to devour.

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God…” —2 Corinthians 10:5

Mental suggestion exalts the will of man and human psychology above the Spirit of God.

Modern Uses and Christian Compromise

Mental suggestion is popular today in corporate coaching, motivational speaking, and even some counseling practices. Terms like “visualize success,” “anchor positive feelings,” or “self-programming” are based on NLP and suggestion.

Unfortunately, many Christians unknowingly open themselves to these practices without recognizing their occult roots. Just because something is wrapped in a science-sounding package doesn’t mean it’s spiritually safe.

Deliverance and Freedom in Christ

If you or someone you know has been involved in mental suggestion, hypnosis, NLP, or related practices, there is hope. Jesus came to set the captives free. Repentance and deliverance are available.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” —John 8:32

Renounce any involvement in occult mental practices, break any soul ties with practitioners, and seek healing through the Word of God and prayer. Deliverance ministry may also be needed to evict spirits of control, manipulation, or confusion.

Final Thoughts

Mental suggestion is not just a psychological tool—it is often a spiritual trap. As believers, we are not called to control others or be controlled, but to walk in freedom through the Spirit of God. Let the Holy Spirit guide you—not human techniques that bypass your will or invite spiritual darkness.

Jesus is the only true healer of the mind, body, and soul.

Exposing the Spirit Behind Enchantment

Exposing the Spirit Behind Enchantment: A Call for Discernment Among Believers

Exposing the Spirit Behind Enchantment: A Call for Discernment Among Believers

The Danger of Enchanters: Why Christians Must Steer Clear of This Deceptive Practice

In today’s spiritually curious culture, the rise of New Age practices like enchantment is no coincidence. The Bible warns repeatedly about sorcerers, magicians, and those who practice divination. Yet, enchanters—those who use spells, words, or objects to manipulate reality or perception—are becoming popular again through modern “harmless” New Age practices. Behind their soft voices, spiritual jargon, and promises of light lies a dark and dangerous path that leads believers away from the truth of Jesus Christ.

What is an Enchanter and How Does It Work?

An enchanter is essentially a sorcerer or magician—someone who manipulates unseen spiritual forces to

Online Free Deliverance Webinar

achieve a certain result, whether it be healing, insight, emotional balance, or influencing others. While the word “enchant” may sound beautiful or whimsical, its biblical roots are anything but. Enchantment, in Scripture, is tied to sorcery, rebellion, and communication with familiar spirits.

Modern enchanters may not look like the sorcerers of ancient times, but the function is the same. Through spells, rituals, mantras, or energy manipulation, they invoke spiritual forces that are not of God. What may begin as curiosity or a search for peace can quickly turn into a web of deception.

Why Christians Must Not Dabble in Enchantment

The first and most urgent reason is that enchantment is strictly forbidden by God. In Deuteronomy 18:10-12, God clearly lists sorcery, divination, and enchantments as detestable. These practices were common among pagan nations and were used to seek power or knowledge apart from God.

When a Christian participates in enchantment, they are unknowingly opening themselves up to spiritual defilement and deception. Many who dabble in these practices begin to experience emotional and mental torment—anxiety, depression, confusion, spiritual oppression, and even physical ailments.

The enemy’s goal through enchantment is to lure the believer away from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. It’s not just about playing with spells or energies—it’s about establishing communion with spirits that counterfeit the Holy Spirit. This is spiritual adultery.

Could It Open the Door to More Torment?

Absolutely. Many former New Age practitioners testify that what began as peace and clarity slowly morphed into torment, paranoia, fear, and darkness. That is because enchantment is not neutral—it draws from demonic sources. These spirits do not offer gifts without strings attached.

Demonic torment often increases when believers try to return to Christ after having opened themselves up to sorcery. Deliverance is possible, but it often comes after much struggle, repentance, and inner healing. What seemed like light becomes revealed as a dark snare that bound the soul.

Who is Responsible for This Movement?

The roots of enchantment in the modern New Age movement can often be traced back to ancient pagan religions, Hindu mysticism, and even certain forms of occult Judaism such as Kabbalah. Enchantment has been repackaged for the Western world through spiritual influencers, New Age teachers, and even therapists who blend psychology with mysticism.

This resurgence is ultimately inspired by the enemy of our souls, Satan himself. He masquerades as an angel of light and uses these spiritual traps to blind people from the truth of the Gospel. His goal is always to keep people from salvation in Christ and to separate believers from their first love.

A Call to Discernment

Christians must return to biblical discernment. Just because something brings temporary relief or feels peaceful does not mean it’s from God. Enchantment is rebellion dressed in light. It is a counterfeit spirituality that replaces trust in Christ with manipulation of unseen forces.

We are called not to seek spiritual power, healing, or insight through forbidden channels, but to trust in Jesus Christ alone. The Holy Spirit is our comforter, counselor, and guide—not spirit guides, spells, or rituals.

If you’ve dabbled in enchantment, repent, renounce the practices, and seek deliverance. God is merciful and ready to heal those who turn back to Him.

Methods of discernment:

• Who was the founder of this modality?

• What was his/her spirituality?

• What culture did it come out of?

• What were their beliefs?

• Who is their God or gods?

Many occult practices in Christianity need to be discerned.  Another method of discernment is the Word of God. The word of God is our measuring stick. The more we read the word, know the word, and have a relationship with the Lord, the more we discern right and wrong. We perish from a lack of knowledge.

Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.”

The Truth About Divination and Divine Inspiration

The Truth About Divination and Divine Inspiration

The Truth About Divination and Divine Inspiration

In spirituality and religion, the concepts of divination and divine inspiration can often be confused or misinterpreted. While both involve exploring the spiritual realm and seeking guidance from higher powers, it is crucial to understand the differences to avoid deception and falsehood.

Understanding Divination

Divination is often associated with occult practices and the attempt to predict future events through supernatural means. It can involve various methods, such as tarot card readings, astrology, or the use of mediums to communicate with spirits. Those who practice divination often claim to have special insights or knowledge that can guide others in their lives. Basically, it is against God's Word.

However, it is essential to recognize that divination is not aligned with the teachings of the Bible or true spirituality. The Bible warns against seeking knowledge or guidance from sources other than God, as these practices can open the door to deception and dark influences. While divination may appear to offer wisdom or insight, it is ultimately a counterfeit of the genuine gift of prophecy inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Dangers of Divination

Those who engage in divination may present themselves as spiritual authorities or "Knowing Ones," but in reality, they are driven by personal motives and a desire for recognition. Divination can lead to control, manipulation, and division within communities or churches, as those practicing it may seek to position themselves as arbiters of truth and wisdom.

At its core, divination is a form of rebellion against God's authority and a rejection of His guidance. By seeking to know the future through occultic means, individuals place their trust in deception rather than the true source of divine wisdom. The lure of divination may be tempting, but its ultimate consequences can be harmful and lead individuals away from the path of truth and light.

The Gift of Divine Inspiration

In contrast to divination, divine inspiration is a gift from God that enables individuals to receive messages or insights directly from Him. The gift of prophecy, for example, involves speaking God's truth and will to others for the purpose of edification and exhortation. Unlike divination, which relies on human manipulation and occultic practices, divine inspiration operates through the power of the Holy Spirit to bring light and clarity to the hearts of believers.

When individuals are inspired by God, they speak words that are in alignment with His truth and character. The messages they deliver are intended to build up the body of Christ and draw believers closer to Him. Divine inspiration is not about personal ambition or control but about surrendering to God's will and allowing His truth to flow through them for the benefit of others.

Conclusion: Choosing the Path of Light

In a world filled with spiritual influences and temptations, it is crucial to discern between divination and divine inspiration. While divination may offer the illusion of wisdom and insight, it leads to deception and darkness. On the other hand, divine inspiration is a gift from God that brings truth, clarity, and light into the lives of believers. A believer can invite demonic spirits that torment them.

As we navigate our spiritual journeys, let us be vigilant in seeking God's guidance and discerning His voice from the counterfeit whispers of divination. By choosing the path of light and aligning ourselves with divine inspiration, we can experience true wisdom and understanding from the source of all truth and light—God Himself. So, let us ask ourselves: Do we seek knowledge from sources aligned with God's truth, or are we tempted by the allure of divination?

Remember, the choice is ours to make—a path of darkness or light. Let us choose wisely and walk in the ways of divine inspiration, for in doing so, we align ourselves with the will of the one true God.

Exposing Spiritual Deception: A Biblical Call to Discernment

πŸ•Š️ Exposing Spiritual Deception: A Biblical Call to Discernment

Exposing Spiritual Deception: A Biblical Call to Discernment

False Light: Recognizing Deception in a Spiritually Confused World

Introduction

In a world filled with noise, confusion, and counterfeit spirituality, the Bible warns us that deception will increase in the last days. Jesus Himself said, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Spiritual deception is subtle, often cloaked in light, and can lead even sincere believers astray if they are not rooted in truth.

1. What Is Spiritual Deception?

Spiritual deception occurs when individuals or movements present teachings, practices, or experiences that appear godly but are contrary to the Word of God. Paul warned that “Satan himself transforms into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14), meaning deception often looks good, feels right, and even uses spiritual language.

2. Biblical Warnings About Deception

Scripture is filled with warnings about false teachers, false prophets, and deceptive spirits:

  • 1 Timothy 4:1 – “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”
  • 2 Peter 2:1 – “There will be false teachers among you... bringing in destructive heresies.”
  • Matthew 7:15 – “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.”

3. Modern Forms of Deception

Today, spiritual deception can take many forms:

  • New Age practices disguised as self-help or healing
  • False signs and wonders not rooted in biblical truth
  • Hyper-spiritual experiences that bypass Scripture
  • Doctrines that deny Christ’s divinity or the authority of the Bible

Even well-meaning Christians can fall into deception when they prioritize experience over Scripture or follow charismatic leaders without discernment.

4. How to Guard Against Deception

πŸ”Ή Stay Rooted in the Word

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
Daily reading and studying of Scripture is the strongest defense against deception.

πŸ”Ή Test Every Spirit

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1)

πŸ”Ή Stay in Fellowship

Isolation makes us vulnerable. God designed the Church to be a place of accountability, teaching, and protection.

πŸ”Ή Pray for Discernment

Ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and discernment. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God...” (James 1:5)

5. The Danger of Occult Practices

Practices like visualization, energy healing, or consulting spiritual guides may seem harmless or even helpful—but they often have roots in occultism. Engaging in these opens spiritual doors that can lead to oppression or confusion.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 clearly warns against divination, sorcery, and consulting the dead, calling them “detestable to the Lord.”

6. Breaking Free from Deception

If you or someone you know has been involved in deceptive practices, there is hope and healing in Jesus Christ.

Steps to Freedom:

  1. Repent – Acknowledge the sin and turn away from it (Acts 3:19).
  2. Renounce – Verbally reject any involvement with false teachings or occult practices (2 Corinthians 4:2).
  3. Receive Deliverance – Pray for freedom in Jesus’ name (Luke 10:19).
  4. Renew Your Mind – Replace lies with truth through Scripture (Romans 12:2).

7. Final Encouragement

We are living in spiritually intense times. But God has not left us defenseless. He has given us His Word, His Spirit, and His people. Stay alert, stay grounded, and stay faithful.

“Let no one deceive you with empty words...” (Ephesians 5:6)
“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)

Exposing the Spiritual Dangers of Visualization: A Biblical Perspective

Exposing the Spiritual Dangers of Visualization: A Biblical Perspective

Exposing the Spiritual Dangers of Visualization: A Biblical Perspective

Exposing Visualization: Occult Roots in the Modern Church

Visualization has become a widespread practice across many spiritual and self-help circles. What’s troubling is how this technique, which originates from occult and metaphysical traditions, is being welcomed into the Christian church. Many well-meaning believers have adopted visualization as a tool for healing, prayer, or spiritual growth without fully understanding the significant spiritual risks it entails.

In occult practice, visualization involves creating mental images that are believed to manifest in the physical world. Practitioners claim that thoughts and intentions have power—what is envisioned spiritually becomes reality. This belief is rooted in Gnosticism and other esoteric philosophies that emphasize the concept of self-realization and the attainment of psycho-spiritual power.

This worldview teaches that the universe responds to our thoughts, which produce energy. As one incubates an image in the mind, it allegedly takes form first in the spiritual realm and eventually in the material world. This is seen in Christian Science, Eastern mysticism, and the metaphysical teachings of mind science.

The Christianized Version of Visualization

Today, a “Christianized” version of visualization is promoted in many churches. It is taught that if one holds a mental image, speaks it aloud with faith, and believes strongly enough, the desired result will appear. This is rooted in the same occult principle of manifestation, where belief becomes a creative force.

Leaders in the Faith movement have adopted this idea. Kenneth Copeland, for example, writes that words shape reality: “What you are saying is precisely what you are getting now.” This belief is not biblical but stems from occult teachings.

Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, was introduced to these visualization techniques by so-called “Ascended Masters”—spiritual entities he encountered through astral imagery. He claimed to meet nightly with a council of famous men in his mind until they became “real” to him. This is the same visualization concept now marketed as Christian prayer or inner healing.

Visualization in Inner Healing and Prayer

One alarming development is the use of visualization in inner healing. People are told to picture Jesus entering past traumatic memories to “heal” them. Leaders like Agnes Sanford and Ruth Carter Stapleton promoted this method, encouraging people to visualize Jesus in any situation—even during sinful acts—to make the memory feel “holy.”

But this opens the door to spiritual deception. The Jesus one visualizes may not be the Jesus of Scripture but a counterfeit. 2 Corinthians 11:4 warns us about “another Jesus” and “another spirit.” When one creates a mental Jesus and begins to interact with Him as if He were real, it mimics how occultists communicate with spirit guides.

Johanna Michaelsen, a former occultist turned Christian, warns about this technique in her book Like Lambs to the Slaughter. She explains the legitimate use of imagination for art or memory is distinct from using imagination to manipulate reality or summon spiritual beings.

Visualization as Sorcery and Divination

The Bible does not teach visualization as a spiritual discipline. In fact, it warns against practices that mirror it. Mental imaging, meditative incubation, and dream scripting are all rooted in occultism. Using the mind to create reality is spiritual manipulation—a form of sorcery or divination.

While God can and does give visions, they are initiated by Him, not induced by our mental exercises. Scripture records divine visions in passages like Genesis 15:1 and Daniel 10:1, but never as a result of human effort. These encounters came unexpectedly, through divine initiative—not through visualization techniques.

Jeremiah 14:14 warns, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them…they prophesy to you a false vision…a deceit of their heart.” This shows that visions can come from the human mind or from demonic influence—not from God.

The Real Problem with Visualization

The biggest danger of visualization is that it bypasses faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” If we require a mental picture to believe or to pray, we are walking by sight—not by faith. Visualization contradicts biblical principles.

Furthermore, Christians are told to pray and believe—not to envision or imagine outcomes. Nowhere in the Bible do Jesus, Paul, or any apostle use visualization to bring about healing, guidance, or communication with God. These techniques are found only in paganism and occultism.

Even seemingly innocent practices like imagining a future blessing or success can open spiritual doors. Occultists have long taught that dreams and mental pictures can shape reality through the “fourth dimension.” When Christians mimic this, even if they invoke the Holy Spirit, they risk spiritual confusion and deception.

Discerning the Source

Believers must test all spiritual practices by asking:

  • Who founded this practice?

  • What spiritual worldview did they follow?

  • What was their concept of God?

  • Does this line up with Scripture?

When we examine visualization through these questions, it becomes clear that its roots are not biblical. From Napoleon Hill to New Age mystics to Faith movement leaders, the source remains the same: a self-generated technique of spiritual manipulation.

Conclusion: Faith, Not Imagination

God does not ask us to create reality through mental images. He calls us to trust His Word and walk in faith. Prayer is not a magic technique; it’s communication with our loving Father. And Jesus does not need to be imagined—He is already interceding at the right hand of the Father (Romans 8:34).

We must be careful not to exchange the truth of Scripture for the seductive lies of mystical practices. Visualization may feel spiritual, but its fruit leads away from dependence on God and toward human control of the spiritual realm—a form of rebellion cloaked in spiritual language.

Let us reject all techniques that replace faith with fantasy and discern between what is from God and what imitates Him. As 2 Corinthians 10:5 reminds us, we are to “cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.”

Charismatic Witchcraft: Recognizing and Breaking Spiritual Manipulation in the Church

πŸ•Š️ Charismatic Witchcraft: Recognizing and Breaking Spiritual Manipulation in the Church

Introduction

In today’s church, many believers unknowingly fall under the influence of what is known as charismatic witchcraft—a form of spiritual manipulation that uses intimidation, domination, and emotional control to impose one’s will on others. This is not just a misuse of spiritual authority; it is a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit’s work and can lead to deep spiritual bondage.

Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18), but when spiritual leaders or members use their influence to control others, they open the door to demonic activity. Whether through manipulation, intimidation, or emotional blackmail, charismatic witchcraft is a serious issue that must be exposed and broken.

What Is Charismatic Witchcraft?

Charismatic witchcraft is the manipulation of people through spiritual language, authority, or influence—often under the guise of prophecy, leadership, or “anointing.” It is not always intentional, but it is always harmful. The root is control, and the fruit is confusion, fear, and spiritual oppression.

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” —1 Samuel 15:23

Four Manifestations of Charismatic Witchcraft

1. Domination

Domination occurs when leaders or individuals seek to control others rather than serve them. Jesus warned against this:

“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them... Not so with you.” —Matthew 20:25–26

The Pharisees are a prime example. They built their own religious empires and dominated the people with rules and fear (Matthew 23:4–5). Today, some leaders build “mini-kingdoms” where their word is final, and questioning them is seen as rebellion.

Victims of this control often feel spiritually stifled, unable to grow or hear God for themselves. This is not biblical leadership—it is spiritual abuse.

2. Intimidation

Intimidation uses fear to enforce submission. Leaders may use their position to silence dissent, shame others, or threaten spiritual consequences for disobedience.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” —2 Timothy 1:7

This spirit replaces the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit with fear-based control. It often masquerades as “protecting the flock,” but in reality, it elevates man’s authority above God’s.

3. Manipulation

Manipulation twists Scripture or spiritual principles to serve selfish agendas. This includes:

  • Promising healing or blessings in exchange for money
  • Using guilt to force service or giving
  • Misusing prophecy to direct people’s lives

“They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.” —Jeremiah 6:14

This is the spirit of Balaam (Revelation 2:14), who taught Balak to seduce Israel into sin. Manipulation appeals to the flesh—greed, fear, or pride—to gain control.

4. Emotional Blackmail

Emotional blackmail uses guilt, shame, or spiritual threats to force compliance. Examples include:

  • Suggesting someone has demons if they disagree
  • Forcing deliverance on someone without consent
  • Using “words of knowledge” to embarrass or control

“Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions...” —Colossians 2:18

This tactic often leaves victims confused, ashamed, and spiritually wounded. It replaces the conviction of the Holy Spirit with condemnation.

The Demonic Roots and Consequences

Charismatic witchcraft opens the door to demonic influence. When people operate in control, rebellion, or pride, they align with the enemy’s nature—not God’s.

“Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.” —James 3:16

If you or your ancestors have participated in this—whether knowingly or unknowingly—it can result in:

  • Chronic confusion or fear
  • Inability to hear God clearly
  • Repeated church hurt or spiritual burnout
  • Physical or emotional torment
  • Generational patterns of spiritual abuse

Breaking Free from Charismatic Witchcraft

  1. Repentance
Acknowledge any participation—whether as a victim or perpetrator—and repent.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us...” —1 John 1:9

  2. Renounce the Spirit of Control
Verbally renounce any spirit of witchcraft, control, or manipulation in Jesus’ name.

  3. Forgive Those Who Hurt You
Unforgiveness keeps you in bondage. Release those who misused their authority.

  4. Break Generational Curses
If this pattern runs in your family or spiritual lineage, break it through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21).

  5. Seek Deliverance and Healing
Ask the Holy Spirit to heal your heart and restore your spiritual discernment.

  6. Return to the Simplicity of Christ
Get back to the Word, prayer, and personal relationship with Jesus—not performance or people-pleasing.

When to Leave a Church

If you are in a church where charismatic witchcraft is practiced, it may be time to leave. These environments rarely change, and staying can damage your faith.

“Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.” —2 Corinthians 6:17

Be prepared for resistance. You may need to cut off communication completely to walk in freedom.

Final Encouragement

Charismatic witchcraft is subtle but destructive. It replaces the Holy Spirit with human control and leads people into bondage. But Jesus came to set us free.

“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” —John 8:32

If you’ve been affected, healing is available. If you’ve unknowingly participated, grace is available. The key is to return to the simplicity of Christ and walk in the Spirit—not in control.
