What Are Sigils and Why Are They Against God?

A sigil is an occult symbol used to manifest a magical desire or to summon a spiritual entity. In ancient times, sigils were the “pictorial signatures” of demons recorded in magical grimoires. In modern times, chaos magicians use sigils to bypass the conscious mind and invite spiritual power into their lives.

Both practices are forbidden by God because they involve spiritual contact outside of His authority.
Deuteronomy 18:10–12 commands believers to avoid divination, enchantments, and consulting familiar spirits. Sigil magic fits all three categories.

Ancient Pagan Sigils: The First Demonic “Signatures”

Sigils appear in ancient Babylon, Egypt, Chaldea, and medieval ceremonial magic. They were used to represent the identity and power of fallen angels masquerading as gods.

Examples include:

The Lesser Key of Solomon (a medieval grimoire listing 72 demons and their sigils)

Babylonian magical tablets

Egyptian invocation symbols

These sigils were meant to summon, command, or communicate with demons — clear rebellion against God.
Leviticus 19:31 warns: “Do not turn to mediums or wizards… I am the Lord your God.”

Modern Sigils: Austin Osman Spare and Chaos Magic

The modern version of sigil magic comes from Austin Osman Spare (1886–1956), a British occultist who rejected Christianity and embraced witchcraft. Spare taught that a person could create their own symbol representing a desire, then “charge it” through meditation, trance, sexual energy magic, or altered states.

His spiritual inspiration came from:

Eastern mysticism

Paganism

Witchcraft

Spirit guides he admitted spoke to him

Spare’s doctrine openly contradicts Jeremiah 10:2: “Learn not the way of the heathen.”

What Did They Believe and Who Was Their “God”?

Ancient magicians believed they were communicating with “spirits,” “gods,” or “astral beings.” In reality, they were contacting fallen angels (2 Corinthians 11:14).

Chaos magicians following Spare believe in:

Self-deification (“You are your own god”)

Manifestation without prayer

Summoning unknown spiritual forces

Rejecting biblical morality

Spare himself wrote that magic should be free from Christianity altogether — revealing that his “god” was self-exaltation, empowered by demonic entities.

Why People Use Sigils Today

People are attracted to sigils because they promise:

Control

Protection

Manifestation

Power

Knowledge

Healing

Love spells

Psychic enhancement

But these are forms of divination, witchcraft, and New Age occult practices.
Galatians 5:20 explicitly names “witchcraft” as a work of the flesh that separates people from God.

Sigils are doorways — spiritual contracts in symbol form.

What If Someone Used Sigils on You? Are You a Victim?

You cannot be demonized simply because someone drew a sigil near you. But if someone targets you spiritually through witchcraft, it can create oppression, fear, nightmares, or spiritual heaviness if there are open doors.

Protection comes through:

The blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11)

The armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18)

Renunciation of all occult involvement

Breaking curses in Jesus’ name

Remote viewing, psychic spying, and occult targeting are forms of divination and cannot override God’s protection unless a believer has open gates.

Why People Need Deliverance From Sigils

Anyone who:

drew a sigil

charged a sigil

meditated on a sigil

used a sigil for manifestation

used a demon’s ancient sigil

owned books containing sigils

allowed sigils in their home

…may have unknowingly entered into agreement with demonic spirits.

Deliverance breaks:

Occult covenants

Witchcraft influence

Demonic attachments

Trauma and spiritual attacks

Fear, anxiety, nightmares

Psychic and spiritual harassment

Jesus came to “destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).
