What is mantras

What is mantras in Hinduism

A mantra is a repetition of a word or a saying, giving the power to actually just say it or believing it has magical properties - it comes originally from Hinduism - often, it's actually used to empty the mind altogether and think about nothing (which then may allow 'vacant' spirits legal access).

Meditate on the Word of God Day and Night

The Catholic church uses a form of mantras when doing the rosary.  The Word of God tells us to meditate on scripture day and night, night and day - meditate on what the Word says so that it will become flesh to our flesh, part of our heart.  Meditating on the Word doesn't mean just repeating it as a mantra - it means learning it, loving it, and acting on it. It is life to us. Having faith in the Word of God is what establishes it in our hearts - God will not let it return void.

When you read the word of God and meditate on the word of God, it is when the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart.  What I mean meditate is read it, ask the Holy Spirit to show truth, and listen for God to speak to your heart.  Look at other scripture in other places that say the same thing, and then memorize God's word.
