Martial Arts’ Pagan and Occult Roots

Martial Arts

Martial Arts’ Pagan and Occult Roots

Martial arts (Aikido, Judo, Karate, Kung fu, Tae Kwan Do, Tai Chi, etc - These are referred to as "Arts" because they are not merely combat techniques but are also an expression of an Eastern "spiritual" philosophy. As individuals practice these disciplines, such instructors expect them to harmonize with the supposed "laws" of this "spiritual" realm.

These philosophies assume that the universe is "divine" and that this "divinity" also permeates and indwells each human being.  Man was created to have a personal relationship with his Creator and was never intended to be self-sufficient. Therefore, Man's authority and power can be derived only through a close dependence upon his Creator and never from any element or substance within himself.

Martial Arts’ Pagan and Occult Roots

Martial arts did not come out of a neutral culture. Most forms—such as Kung Fu, Karate, Judo, or Taekwondo—originated in Buddhist, Taoist, and Shinto traditions. They were never just physical exercises but were tied to Eastern spirituality, ancestor worship, and energy practices (chi/ki).

For example:

  • Kung Fu is tied to the Shaolin monks of Buddhism.

  • Karate comes from Okinawa, rooted in Shinto ancestor reverence.

  • Tai Chi is Taoist, focusing on balancing “yin and yang energy.”

The Bible warns us not to adopt practices connected with false gods:

  • “Learn not the way of the heathen.” (Jeremiah 10:2)

  • “You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:3)

2. Bowing = Worship or Reverence

In martial arts, bowing to the master or to a shrine is a normal ritual. But bowing has spiritual meaning in Scripture—it is a posture of worship and submission.

  • “You shall worship the LORD your God and Him only shall you serve.” (Matthew 4:10)

  • “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow.” (Philippians 2:10)

When a student bows to a master or to a dojo shrine, even if they say, “It’s just respect,” spiritually it is still an act of submission and honor that belongs to God alone. This opens the door for spirits of idolatry, submission, and false authority to oppress a Christian.

3. The “Life Energy” Connection

Most martial arts also teach some form of chi/ki energy, the same “life energy” concept used in yoga, Reiki, and New Age healing. Students are often trained to “harness inner energy” for strikes, breathing, or meditation.

This is occult because it replaces dependence on the Holy Spirit with a counterfeit energy source.

  • “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.” (1 Samuel 15:23)

4. Why Christians Get Pulled In

Many believers justify martial arts by saying:

  • “It’s just exercise/self-defense.”

  • “I don’t believe in the spiritual parts.”

But participation—even if unintentional—can spiritually bind a person. The rituals (bowing, chanting, energy focus) and submission to masters rooted in pagan traditions create spiritual agreements. Remember: demons don’t need your conscious permission—just your participation in forbidden practices.

5. Demonic Manifestations from Martial Arts

Christians or their ancestors who practiced martial arts may notice:

  • Pride, anger, or aggression.

  • Spiritual oppression or tormenting dreams.

  • Inability to fully submit to God’s authority.

  • Physical manifestations (heat, energy surges, sleep paralysis).

  • Bondage to perfectionism or performance spirits.

These are the fruits of mixing occult practices with daily life.

6. Freedom Through Christ

If someone has practiced martial arts and feels conviction, repentance, and deliverance are key.

Prayer of Renunciation:
“Lord Jesus Christ, I repent for involvement in martial arts and bowing to a master or shrine. I renounce all submission to false authority and all connection to chi/ki energy. I repent for myself and my ancestors. I break every demonic tie, spirit of idolatry, pride, anger, and witchcraft. I declare that I bow only to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. In His name I command every unclean spirit tied to martial arts to leave me now. Amen.”

✅ In short: Martial arts is wrong for Christians when it involves bowing, rituals, or spiritual energy—because these are rooted in idolatry and occultism. Self-defense itself is not sin, but the martial arts system is spiritually compromised from its foundations.

Life Energy in the New Age: The Occult Force Christians Must Avoid

Life Energy in the New Age: The Occult Force Christians Must Avoid

Life Energy in the New Age: The Occult Force Christians Must Avoid

In the New Age community, one of the most common teachings is the existence of a universal “life energy” that flows through all living things. It goes by many names: chi in Taoism, prana in Hinduism, ki in Japanese Reiki, and vital force in Western occultism. Practitioners believe this invisible energy can be manipulated for healing, psychic abilities, and spiritual transformation.

At first glance, it may seem harmless—even scientific. But the truth is, the concept of life energy is rooted in paganism and occult philosophy, and those who engage with it open the door to demonic deception.

Cultural Origins of Life Energy

The idea of a universal life force comes from multiple pagan traditions:

  • Hinduism (Prana): Prana is the vital force said to flow through the body’s chakras and can be controlled through yoga and meditation.

  • Taoism (Chi or Qi): In Chinese mysticism, chi is believed to be the energy flowing through meridians in the body, balanced through acupuncture, tai chi, and qigong.

  • Western Occultism: In Hermeticism and Theosophy, life energy was rebranded as “vital force” or “astral energy,” forming the foundation of modern New Age healing practices like Reiki.

The Beliefs Behind Life Energy

New Age practitioners believe:

  • Life energy can be channeled, transferred, or manipulated for healing.

  • Illness results from “blocked energy,” not sin, genetics, or environment.

  • By raising one’s vibration or balancing energy centers, one can reach higher consciousness.

  • Death is not the end but a transformation of energy into another form.

This worldview denies the truth of Scripture, which teaches that life comes from God alone.

  • “In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4)

  • “He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.” (Acts 17:25)

  • “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)

Who Is Their God or gods?

The life energy concept is not neutral—it is tied to false gods. In Hinduism, prana is linked to deities like Shiva and Vishnu. Taoist chi is associated with yin-yang cosmology and ancestor spirits. Reiki practitioners call on “universal life energy,” often guided by spirit entities (demons in disguise).

Behind these systems is the same lie Satan told in Eden: “You shall be as gods” (Genesis 3:5). By teaching that humans can harness energy to heal, ascend, or achieve immortality, the life energy doctrine replaces dependence on God with occult self-empowerment.

The Purpose of Life Energy Practices

The main purposes include:

  • Healing without God through reiki, acupuncture, or yoga.

  • Spiritual transformation through kundalini awakening or chi cultivation.

  • Divination and psychic powers such as clairvoyance and astral projection.

Thus, the life energy concept is a gateway to deeper occult practices.

Why People Get Involved

People are drawn into life energy practices for:

  • Relief from sickness or pain.

  • A desire for peace and relaxation.

  • Curiosity about spirituality.

  • Attraction to New Age “scientific” language about energy.

But instead of finding peace, many find bondage. They trade the true Healer, Jesus Christ, for counterfeits.

Is Life Energy Divination?

Yes—though it disguises itself as healing. Practices like reiki and chakra reading are forms of divination, since they claim to diagnose spiritual conditions and alter destinies by channeling unseen energy. This directly violates God’s command:

  • “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them.” (Leviticus 19:31)

  • “You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.” (1 Corinthians 10:21)

Demonic Manifestations from Life Energy Practices

When Christians—or their ancestors—engage in life energy practices, doors open to demonic oppression. Common manifestations include:

  • Heat or tingling sensations during prayer or meditation.

  • Nightmares, sleep paralysis, or shadowy presences.

  • Mental torment, confusion, or obsession with “energy healing.”

  • Physical afflictions that worsen instead of improve.

  • Ancestral curses tied to Hinduism, Taoism, or Freemasonry (which also uses vital force concepts).

These are not signs of “awakening” but signs of demonic activity.

Breaking Free from the Life Energy Deception

The only true life is found in Christ. If you or your ancestors have been involved in energy healing, yoga, reiki, or related practices, repentance is necessary.

Prayer of Renunciation:
“Lord Jesus, I renounce all involvement with life energy practices, including reiki, yoga, chi, and prana. I repent for myself and my ancestors for seeking false healing apart from You. I break every curse and spirit tied to these practices, and I declare that Jesus Christ alone is my Life, my Healer, and my Savior. In Jesus’ name, I command every unclean spirit connected to these practices to leave now. Amen.”

Conclusion

The New Age teaching of life energy is not harmless—it is occult deception. Whether called prana, chi, or vital force, it replaces the power of God with counterfeit demonic energy. Christians must reject these practices and embrace the only true source of life: Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Hermeticism: The Lie That Man Can Become Divine

Hermeticism: The Lie That Man Can Become Divine

Hermeticism: The Lie That Man Can Become Divine

Hermeticism is one of the oldest occult systems in the world, shaping modern witchcraft, Freemasonry, astrology, and the New Age Movement. At its core is the belief that man can become divine through mystical transformation—a direct contradiction of God’s Word. Scripture is clear: “You shall be as gods” was the very first lie Satan told Eve in the Garden (Genesis 3:5). Hermeticism is simply a repackaging of that ancient deception.

Cultural Origins of Hermeticism

Hermeticism arose in Egypt during the Hellenistic period (2nd century B.C. – 3rd century A.D.). Its teachings were attributed to Hermes Trismegistus (“Thrice Great Hermes”), a fusion of the Egyptian god Thoth and the Greek god Hermes. These writings, known as the Hermetic Corpus, claimed secret knowledge of the divine, the cosmos, and the hidden powers of man.

The culture of ancient Egypt was steeped in magic, astrology, and worship of false gods. The Hermetic texts blended Greek philosophy with Egyptian occult practices, giving birth to a system that spread through Rome, medieval Europe, the Renaissance, and even today’s occult revival.

The Beliefs of Hermeticism

Hermeticism teaches that:

  • God is not a personal being but an impersonal “All.”

  • Man has a divine spark within himself and can become god-like through mystical knowledge (gnosis).

  • The universe operates through hidden laws that can be manipulated through magic, astrology, and alchemy.

  • Salvation is not through Jesus Christ but through enlightenment and transformation of the self.

This is clearly contrary to Scripture. The Bible declares:

  • “I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides me there is no God.” (Isaiah 45:5)

  • “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)

  • “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image…” (Romans 1:22–23)

Hermeticism removes the need for Christ’s sacrifice and replaces it with self-divinity and occult knowledge.

Their Gods and Purpose

Hermeticism worshipped Hermes/Thoth, gods of wisdom, communication, and hidden knowledge. Practitioners sought contact with spiritual entities (which are actually demons in disguise), believing these beings could grant secret wisdom.

The purpose of Hermeticism was to:

  • Achieve personal divinity

  • Manipulate spiritual forces

  • Control fate through astrology

  • Transform matter (alchemy) as a picture of inner transformation

  • Gain forbidden knowledge

In short, Hermeticism is a pursuit of power apart from God, the very essence of witchcraft.

Why People Get Involved

Hermeticism appeals to those hungry for power, enlightenment, healing, or hidden wisdom. It promises answers about the mysteries of life and the universe. Many are drawn into it through:

  • Astrology and horoscopes

  • Alchemy and “spiritual transformation” teachings

  • New Age meditation and visualization

  • Secret societies and Freemasonry

  • Modern occult literature

But what begins as a search for wisdom often becomes spiritual bondage.

Is Hermeticism Divination?

Yes. Hermeticism involves divination through astrology, numerology, and communication with spirits. God clearly forbids these practices:

  • “There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer.” (Deuteronomy 18:10)

  • “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.” (1 Samuel 15:23)

Demonic Manifestations

When Christians—or their ancestors—dabble in Hermeticism, they open the door to demonic spirits of false wisdom, pride, control, and witchcraft. Manifestations include:

  • Tormenting dreams and nightmares

  • Hearing voices or channeling “guides”

  • Uncontrollable anger, pride, or confusion

  • Financial setbacks and constant blockages

  • Addiction to occult books or practices

  • Sicknesses with no medical explanation

Generational involvement (through Freemasonry, secret societies, or alchemy) can pass down ancestral curses, bringing oppression to children and grandchildren.

But Jesus Christ came to destroy these works: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)

Breaking Free from Hermeticism

If you or your ancestors have been involved in Hermeticism, repentance and deliverance are essential. Pray:

“Lord Jesus Christ, I renounce all involvement with Hermeticism, divination, astrology, alchemy, and the worship of Hermes or any false god. I repent on behalf of myself and my ancestors. I declare that only You are Lord and Savior. I break every curse, spirit, and tie to Hermeticism in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.”

Conclusion

Hermeticism is not harmless philosophy—it is an occult system rooted in Egypt’s false gods and Satan’s ancient lie. Its promise of divinity leads only to spiritual destruction. Christians must reject it, repent, and walk in the true freedom found only in Jesus Christ.

Hepatoscopy, Hexes, and Hexagrams: Ancient Occult Practices Exposed

Hepatoscopy, Hexes, and Hexagrams: Ancient Occult Practices Exposed

Occult practices often disguise themselves as “mystical wisdom” or harmless cultural rituals, but in reality, they open dangerous spiritual doors. Three of these practices—Hepatoscopy, Hexes, and Hexagrams—are rooted in pagan divination and witchcraft. The Bible warns us that these things bring demonic influence into our lives, whether we personally practiced them, had them performed on us, or inherited them through our ancestors.

Hepatoscopy: Reading the Liver for Divination

Hepatoscopy is the ancient practice of examining the liver of a sacrificed animal to predict the future. This ritual was especially popular in Babylon, Assyria, and ancient Mesopotamia. Priests believed that gods communicated through the animal’s organs, with the liver seen as the seat of life and destiny.

This is nothing less than divination—forbidden by God.

  • “There shall not be found among you anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens.” (Deuteronomy 18:10)

By seeking hidden knowledge outside of God, practitioners invited demonic spirits of deception. Today, similar practices survive in some occult and pagan rituals, showing that Satan simply recycles old lies under new names.

Hex: Spells of Harm

A hex is a spell cast to cause harm, misfortune, or control over someone. The word itself comes from the German “hexe,” meaning witch. In witchcraft, hexes often involve incantations, ritual objects, or curses spoken with intention.

People use hexes for revenge, jealousy, or to manipulate others, but what they are really doing is calling upon demons to act. What seems like power is actually bondage to spirits of witchcraft.

The Bible says:

  • “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.” (Proverbs 26:2)

  • “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” (Isaiah 54:17)

Christians walking in Christ’s authority are shielded from hexes, but those with open doors—through sin, occult involvement, or ancestral curses—may feel their effects until those doors are closed.

Hexagram: Harnessing Demonic Power

A hexagram is a six-pointed star formed by two interlocking triangles. In witchcraft and the occult, it is not a symbol of peace or culture but a tool for summoning and controlling demons. Witches and magicians use the hexagram in rituals, believing it channels spiritual power.

Ironically, instead of controlling demons, those who use this symbol become controlled by demons. Satan offers counterfeit power to keep people enslaved.

  • “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” (1 Samuel 15:23)

  • “What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything? No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.” (1 Corinthians 10:20)

Why Would Anyone Get Involved?

People seek these practices for:

  • Answers to life’s uncertainties (divination for guidance).

  • Power and control (hexes for revenge or manipulation).

  • Mystical experiences (hexagrams for “spiritual energy”).

But in reality, they are trading the truth of God for lies. (Romans 1:25). What looks like enlightenment is actually bondage.

Demonic Manifestations

Christians who dabble in hepatoscopy, hexes, or hexagrams—or whose ancestors did—can experience:

  • Tormenting thoughts, fear, or confusion.

  • Recurring bad dreams, often with animals or dark figures.

  • Cycles of sickness or misfortune.

  • Relationship breakdowns and constant strife.

  • Obsession with symbols, astrology, or “secret knowledge.”

These are not coincidences—they are signs of demonic oppression. Generational involvement (such as ancestors who practiced divination or witchcraft) can also pass down curses.

Breaking Free in Christ

The good news is that Jesus Christ breaks every curse and overcomes every demonic power. His blood is stronger than any spell, hex, or occult ritual.

Pray this prayer of renunciation:

“Lord Jesus Christ, I renounce all involvement with hepatoscopy, divination, hexes, and hexagrams. I repent for myself and my ancestors. I reject all demonic spirits connected to these practices. By the blood of Jesus, I cancel every curse, hex, or spell spoken over me. I declare that Jesus Christ is my only Lord and Savior. In His name, I command every demon afflicting me to leave now. Amen.”

Conclusion

Hepatoscopy, hexes, and hexagrams may seem like ancient mysteries or harmless symbols, but they are occult practices rooted in rebellion against God. Their purpose is not guidance or empowerment but demonic deception and bondage.

As believers, we are called to walk in the light of Christ, not the darkness of forbidden practices. Reject these occult systems, close the doors to the enemy, and embrace the freedom and protection found only in Jesus Christ.
