Why Christians Should Not Read the Harry Potter Books – Manuals of Witchcraft in Disguise

Why Christians Should Not Read the Harry Potter Books – Manuals of Witchcraft in Disguise

Why Christians Should Not Read the Harry Potter Books – Manuals of Witchcraft in Disguise

The Five Undeniable Facts About Harry Potter and Witchcraft

  1. Practicing witches attending Harry Potter movies stated that although whimsical in tone, the content authentically represented real witchcraft.

  2. Warner Brothers, the producers of the films, confirmed the first Harry Potter movie portrayed witchcraft accurately.

  3. This was the first globally distributed book series teaching children the step-by-step practices of witchcraft.

  4. J.K. Rowling’s descriptions align with real principles used in modern witchcraft; curious readers can easily pursue deeper occult practices.

  5. God declares witchcraft an abomination. Christians must take His Word seriously and reject what He hates (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).

Who is J.K. Rowling and What Spirit Inspires Her?

J.K. Rowling was born in 1966 during a time when witchcraft was beginning to emerge more boldly from the shadows. She is not just a fantasy writer—her background and worldview have shaped a series of books that act as subtle manuals of sorcery. The spiritual atmosphere surrounding Rowling’s books has dark roots and echoes ancient, pagan traditions. The cultural impact of these books has led to a global obsession with the occult, especially among children.

The "Harry Potter" series is not harmless entertainment. It is indoctrination. It teaches spells, introduces children to demonic names, and encourages rebellion against biblical truth. Rowling has stated her familiarity with real occult terms and practices. These are not random names and rituals—they are tied to ancient, dark practices condemned by God.

Books Are Gateways: Teaching Children to Act Like Witches

Books are powerful spiritual gates. What we read can affect our souls, influence our beliefs, and open demonic doors. The Harry Potter books are designed to familiarize children with spell casting, potions, astrology, communication with spirits, and the idea that witchcraft is noble and fun.

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, children are introduced to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, Harry buys magical supplies, learns spells, and gains occult vocabulary such as:

  • Azkaban – A real demon name.

  • Circe – A known witch in mythology.

  • Draco – Tied to the Latin word for dragon (often symbolic of Satan in the Bible).

  • Erised – "Desire" spelled backward; promotes lustful obsession.

  • Hermes – A Greek god tied to alchemy and occultism.

  • Slytherin – Symbolic of the serpent, Satan.

These are not whimsical inventions—they are real references used in historical and modern witchcraft. And children reading these books are unknowingly participating in the same practices God detests.

What Does God Say About Witchcraft?

Scripture is crystal clear:

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch… For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord…”
—Deuteronomy 18:10–12 (KJV)

“And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men…”
—Acts 19:18–19 (KJV)

“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
—1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV)

God doesn’t tell us to flirt with darkness—He tells us to flee from it.

Spiritual Consequences: Demonic Manifestations

Many families have reported increased spiritual warfare after bringing Harry Potter books into their homes:

  • Night terrors and sleep paralysis in children.

  • Rebellious behavior and emotional changes.

  • Interest in Wicca, crystals, and spellwork.

  • Addictions and oppression.

  • Ancestral curses reactivated by engaging with occult books.

Spirits are legalists. If a book is knowingly inviting occult practices, demons use that as an open door. Even secondhand involvement—through reading or watching—is enough to cause spiritual contamination.

If your ancestors practiced witchcraft or Freemasonry, books like Harry Potter can stir up dormant curses. And if you've read these books yourself or had them in your home, renunciation and deliverance may be necessary to break the curse and close the door.

The Modality of Witchcraft Through Literature

Who is the founder?
J.K. Rowling. Spiritually, she functions as a transmitter of occult ideas and concepts to young minds.

What is her spirituality?
She has publicly expressed interest in various mystic and magical traditions. The series itself reveals deep familiarity with Wicca, Hermeticism, and pagan lore.

What culture did it come from?
Harry Potter is steeped in Western occultism—rooted in British and European witchcraft traditions, alchemy, and mystical Kabbalah.

What were their beliefs?
The books promote the belief that power lies within, that magic can be used for good or evil, and that spiritual forces can be manipulated by human will.

Who is their god or gods?
Wicca and related traditions revere elemental forces, gods and goddesses like Gaia, Hecate, and others. In the Harry Potter world, supernatural powers are accessed apart from God—making it witchcraft, not fantasy.

Purpose of the modality?
To subtly teach and normalize witchcraft practices in the form of "entertainment," thereby weakening biblical standards in children and adults alike.

Final Warning: Protect Your Family

It is not just fiction. It is spiritual training material disguised as a children’s book. If your children have read or watched Harry Potter, it’s time to repent, renounce, and break the power of the occult off your home.

As Acts 19 teaches us, we must burn these books—physically or spiritually. Pray over your children. Anoint your home. Cast out any spiritual residue that remains.

The blood of Jesus Christ is the only power that defeats witchcraft:

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
—Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

I am 17 years old, and have been reading the Potter series for 8 years. When I was in the 5th grade I had the reading level of a 10th grader, and I owe it to these books. They have not instucted me in any way to practice witchcraft or conjure magic. I am a strong believer in the word of God, and have never once believed these books have drawn me away from Him. People are just using the series as a scapegoat, someone to blame on the evils of the world. Do not blame Rowling or her books on these evils. And if these books are some sort of "instruction manual" on witchcraft, it is not your place to condemn them.

The series is merely meant to entertain and bring children to love reading, as it has done with me.
